Hillbilly engineer and plant nerd going feral

Depends on what you put in there. You can just peel hard boiled eggs and put them in the juice from anything pickled. Or you can make your own brine. I have used hot sauce as well. I like to let them sit for 3-4 weeks in the refrigerator to absorb more flavor

I love autumn olive. I prefer to use opportunistic, invasive gives a negative connotation. I am noticing more insect damage to the leaves here, suggesting it is naturalizing. The only place I see it as a big 'problem' here is abandoned farmland.

I also like to plant trees and shrubs around autumn olives for shelter. You can prune them heavily to release nitrogen and allow more sun in.

Also habitat destruction. Many of the ag fields where I grew up had fence rows. This gives insect predators a place to live. These are mostly gone, I imagine more pesticides are required now

Nice. I have never used oranges in my fire cider

No πŸ˜‚. I must have been running errands or something

That means the hen is getting enough calcium to make strong shells. When I dump out a bucket of restaurant scraps, my hens go for the crushed up egg shells first before moving on to prime rib fat ect...

Good night and good luck. I have to read fiction some days to 'shut my brain off'

I burned a bunch of scrap wood today that had been piling up. I used the drum from a dryer. I think this will be good for making #biochar

Ash should rinse out the holes in the bottom when I put it out. Might try to find something for a lid

Ramps are coming up. #spring is here

Got a very big egg today. πŸ”πŸ“

What type of plants you interested in growing? Shrubs or garden veggies?

I don't think the cloth pots are too much money. Don't know how long they last either.
