ive been rolling out new server capacity and a new higher availability architecture (while remaining free of big cloud tech).
one of the new(er) servers, something went (got a huge traffic spike?) wrong and it had to be rebooted. it should not have had as much of an impact on the cluster either, but it did.
still root causing and etc, such is the server life 😎

I just tagged 2 strfry releases: 0.9.7 and 1.0.0-beta1
1.0.0-beta1 is a candidate release of strfry 1.0.0 -- help is needed testing!
The internal strfry DB version has been increased to 3, which means that you will need to rebuild your DBs to use this new version.
0.9.7 has some bugfixes and changes that accumulated in master, and has a "strfry export --fried" feature that can be used to create DB exports that can be rapidly imported by 1.0.0 series releases.

Tap hosted services and copy new onion url
Open #Amethyst and go to relays
Add ws://yournewonionaddress. onion:4869 to outbox relay
Remove any other outbox relay
Hit save

I am my own customer on this particular relay. I like having it, it gives me a good feeling when i post my huge follow list it does not reject it, it doesn't flake out, and it's nice people can join it by solving the lightning captcha or etc. The lightning captcha + frends list works well for this kind of thing.
I have lots of ideas on how to monetize relays while providing value to the network. For this type of relay, it's value is not making money off subscriptions, that is simply for spam control on the wild nostr net.

i agree, thats why i keep beating the drum of paid relays.. use em, join em, create em. it takes some influencing to get people on there tho. https://nostr21.com is only 21 sats. https://galaxy13.nostr1.com is only 13 sats.
we are quickly approaching free relay apocalypse, where they are un-usable so best to try to spread out a bit if you can before they're gone.
