Tonight's Christmas dinner's main Items were the scrumptious sirloin and t-bone #steaks marinated in a maple bourbon concoction. I grilled them in the fire pit grill with natural wood for the honest grilled flavor and smoke. #Homegrown baked potatoes and acorn squash rounded out a delicious meal.

Yesterday I headed south to Steptoe Butte to try and #paraglide but the winds were just too damned strong. I managed to get some kiting in but gave up and headed home around noon. Once it was dark we went out for our yearly #Christmas lights drive around the neighborhoods between us and Spokane. This house had a couple of inflatables that were taller than their roof and the bright moon overhead made it look pretty cool. Other houses looked like Christmas had sprayed the property with lights.

Yesterday I spent a bunch of time building out the data for a #greenhouse building business. With the interest shown already from the small groups we have asked I think I have a viable idea. After the success of building my greenhouse and determining that it is a job that I can do by myself I've gotten rather excited at the prospects. I figure that I could build a 12x8 greenhouse in about 5 hours with little to no site prep and up to 13 hours for a 12x40. I'd be happy to build one per week, which is fully possible. My big concern next is to do some digging for supply lines and find wholesale pricing.
Today I'm going #paragliding at Steptoe Butte before the weather sets in again this week.

I've been growing food for our co-op which is "giving a person a fish" but this will allow me to "teach them to fish" which is going to be far better for them over their lives. And even more fulfilling for me.
Ya'll are building businesses online but I am building my business plan and options available for a #greenhouse construction business. There is a lot of interest in the small local groups we have asked so far and my spreadsheet is showing me that I could actually make an actual income. (Especially compared to growing food!) That would equate to working 3 days a week, doing something I love and helping people to have a place to grow food for much longer each year. I'm getting a bit excited for this potential as I have been trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I'm gladly going to accept crypto as payment for a greenhouse install and will be giving a discount for those who do. Initially I am going to offer 12ft wide by 8ft to 40ft long varying in price from ~$900 to ~$2600.
I'm getting more and more excited for this now and have a bit of work to do to refine everything and ensure that the supply line is strong enough. One of the people interested wants to expand the one she has so it could be a good way to dip my toes into the waters again and start working off the farm for the first time in over a decade.

These warmer storms that keep coming through are dropping lots of rain but little snow on the farm. As the back side of the storm passed after dark yesterday the rain turned to snow and the snow became HUGE. It wasn't single massive flakes but it was clumps of snow falling in big bunches. I've not seen snow like this before, not this size, even during other el nino years. It only lasted a little while until the storm had passed and not much of it stuck thanks to the rains during the day.

Yesterday I planted a bunch of seeds on Winter Solstice. With this winter being warmer I'm hoping that the temperatures will allow for the germination to happen. I have 2 layers of frost guard row cover over the rows so it will be interesting to see what happens. This is my first time with a real #greenhouse in winter so pretty much all experimental.

This sign made us really laugh when we found it in the middle of the Canada forest on an old logging road. It was there for a reason as the really old "bridge" was covered in a flowing stream and had partially washed away the supports.

Rather pleased to have the #greenhouse finished. I got the east end all done and found that the temp inside began to rise pretty quickly. I found that I still had some carrots in the ground which have been through 15F temps. After picking them and pulling tomato and cucumber roots it took 5 passes with the tiller to get the center tilled nicely. I laid down a piece of frost guard row cover to help the heat retention. With this more mild winter so far I am going to give some seeds a try and I might just be able to get a small harvest of greens during the cold months.

How many $ Billions were wasted? Seriously insane the vast amount of #corruption and #waste that IS the #government. Bureaucrats only know how to make more #bureaucracy which is 99/100 useless and costly. Yesterday was not a day for outside work as it rained the whole time. Given the opportunity I would rather not work in it and since the greenhouse could wait a day I will finish it today. I was pleasantly surprised to find I remembered how to use my Nikon after not for over a year and got to try out my new macro rail. I'm looking forward to the flowers in Spring/Summer to do some good stacked images. Since I finished off the tortillas I made a new batch in the evening as they tend to go rather quickly around here.
