So Sore!

I got potato 1000 for the year planted yesterday morning, then dug more in the afternoon. I have one more row left to dig of the early spuds which will be right on half the total. I should end up with about 680 pounds so far, all of which are piled in the living room still. Not looking forward to the coming heat wave but it looks to be a shorter one this time.

Found that is the condenser timer control circuit board (P/N EAC-428/3-0B-300) but not seeing schematics.

You can test the cap with a VOM.

Test the Motor Capacitor: attach the ohmmeter's leads to the capacitor's terminals, one pair at a time and check the reading on the ohmmeter.

Ohm reading drops to zero then slowly rises: the capacitor is probably serviceable

Infinite resistance: If the ohms reading stays at a very high value or at infinity then the capacitor has an open circuit internally and is probably shot. Replace the capacitor.

Low or zero resistance: If there is zero resistance (zero ohms) the capacitor is shorted internally. You are seeing low or no resistance, or very low ohms reading. This capacitor is no good. Replace this capacitor.

If you reverse the + and - leads of the DC ohmmeter it will repeat. If you do not see any resistance in the capacitor then it has an internal short and it's shot - you need a new one.

If it is a full size a/c sometimes the thermal cutoff switch goes bad on the motor, or if it has a starting capacitor those can pop.

♫I was digging in the rains♫

Well it took much of the day yesterday for them to actually arrive and it wasn't until late afternoon when the first drops began to fall but I made sure to take advantage of the coolness. I came out with 25 more pounds from the row and mid day I had planted 100 more red potatoes back into the pole garden. Today I will plant the last row to get me past 1000 spuds planted this year.

I separated the garlics out so I have my seed stock in the cooler beginning the stratification process so they will be ready to plant in mid October. My 41F setting in the cooler is exactly what I need to hold the garlic at.

Hallo #nostr

Got all 3 types of #garlic trimmed, cleaned, and in the house. For my first year growing them I got over 10 pounds from 2.5 pounds planted. I'm saving a pound of each to plant and have 4 more types coming in October so this time next year I could have 650 heads of garlic. This year I have 200. I am all in on the root type crops now, the stuff I am NOT having to harvest daily.

Morning #Nostr

After the small grain run in the morning yesterday I ended up planting more potatoes in the main garden. I'm aiming for a total of 1000+ spots planted for the year and am nearing it now. Likely won't dig them until mid October.

We went to the lake to kayak and fish. The damned crappie were airborne all around me but none would hit anything I threw out. The best hits were on the frog but none would set. I got to get my fly rod setup and figured out how to cast seated in my kayak. I can see where my longer rod will come in handy on the lakes.

Today I plant more potatoes in hopes of a late harvest.

I've been thinking it would be good to put my frost gaurd over the rows but it is the heavy and has minimal light transmission. The lightest might be better. I do know my Dynatrap has been catching a lot of the cabbage moths by the house so probably I should get one to mount in the garden for the summer.

SMH #nostr

They are called bird brains for a reason and some of the turkeys exemplify that term while others seem to have a spark of brains. I would have thought they would have the habit of going in after the past months of it.

I got a nice harvest of cabbage, though I have to go pretty deep to get past the bugs it does give me REALLY nice heads. One of my potato areas was a strike out, but I guess I can't win them all. If I can get the rows I have dug already raked out and covered again we could get another couple hundred spots planted for October harvest.

I'm still sore this morning #nostr.

The digging continues and yesterday was my biggest single day haul of potatoes ever. The 40 spots put out 182 pounds of the Red Nordland potatoes which mostly all look really nice. 315 spots dug out of the 507 I planted in April and I have 602 pounds so far. That has me at 1.91lbs/spot but the next 3 rows of yellow likely won't help my average much.

William L. Silber - The Story of Silver How the White Metal Shaped America and the Modern World

This blew my mind at the blatant manipulation over the ages and how much impact silver has had on the world. The sheer quantities that Hunts and others were dealing with is insane.

All I'm doing right now is digging spuds. 6 rows down and many more to go. It was an 87.5 pound day yesterday and brought me over 400 lbs so far though the next 4 rows are not likely to be as good of production.

Something is getting the birds so tinight I set the traps and hopefully it comes back for seconds so I can catch whatever it is and dispatch it.

Oh boy, here comes the MSM spin. #election

Just straight. The boys rinsed them then popped the ends and strings off. I may cut them in half next time to make the peas inside dry faster.

The freeze dryer finally finished the batch of peas yesterday morning which turned out awesome. I really need to get the next batch going which should be more peas before they go bad. The potatoes store longer so can get run this fall. Speaking of potatoes I got another 62 pounds dug over the day and have a ton more to go. Hopefully the cooler temps will stay so it will be a bit easier to work outside.
