Rare headache yesterday morning kept me from doing anything until it had subsided well after noon. It was very little surprise when Littler won the PDC UK Open and zero surprise when Man Utd lost once again. I had forgotten during the day so it was after dark when I went got the trailer hooked up for the grain run I have done this morning.

It helps to dry the dirt on the roots out before hanging.
Garlic is super easy. Just pull when ready and let dry in the sun for a day or two then bunch and hang in an out of the sun warm area until the leaves are dried. Cut the tops off and they are good to go. I save and store what I plan on planting in my cooler for about 3 months before planting in October as it needs a stratification period.
As I see the rows of garlic growing so well it's really given me the itch to plant TONS more for next year. I'm looking to turn the farm into a serious spud and garlic producer. 1000 garlic this year should more than quadruple for next year. At that rate it will be about 3 years before the farm is stuffed with garlic rows.

The sheep and birds are extra happy with the piles of warm grain yesterday morning. Still warm after the brewing process I was able to finish coating the main garden with grain and had the extra for the animals. Once the ground has thawed enough I will till it all in and be ready to setup the irrigation and plastic cover.
Hit Mistequa casino in the evening for date night and had a great meal and we walked out up a few dollars from gambling. We rarely go to casinos but we have a bunch of them in the region that have good specials running all the time.

Well, the true sign Spring is here.... MY #GARLIC HAS POPPED! As I was putting the snowblower away and pulling the tiller out I found the tips of the garlic were poking through the pine needles I used for the winter cover. The needles were still frozen beneath but I still removed most of them. The 50f+ temps during the days will have them thawed quickly. Over 1000 will hopefully all pop, so far about half seem to be up.

A lifelong dream came true yesterday with my oldest and best friend. For over 30 years we have wanted to climb ice and we finally made it happen. I lead my first water ice climb which is my first ice climb and possibly a first ascent of the falls. It's for sure a solid WI3 route and would be about 60 meters for what we climbed. I am so sore but my head is glowing still and I'm beyond stoked.

Grain run yesterday morning and it all got spread in the garden where the birds attacked it all day. I still need a few barrels more to finish coating the main garden for the year.
The creek has already peaked with the prior days rains and the tunnel is running much lower. There is still a heathy snow pack to come down but with the 50F temps the next week it will be a gradual melt. Now off to ice climb before it melts away.

The creek is blowing and going with all the snow melt and the tunnel is a good 2ft deep. It's been worse in prior years so this is not too abnormal, it's just this year winter was condensed into 2 weeks instead of 3 months and followed directly by the spring warmup.
I'm hoping the mason bee house I printed out will actiually atract some this year. I just need to figure out the best place to put it so they will find it but the frames will be protected from the weather.

The PNW is living up to its overly moist nature. The rains and temps made for some persistent fog all around the farm all day yesterday. The creek was the main producer of the mist and there were times during the day it vanished for a bit before flooding back in.
GR8 is jsut 13 goals from beating Gretzky's record and likely there will never be a player that will top the new record. Incredible to get to see this a second time in my life. First Gretzky when I was a kid and now OV all these years later.

Why I always prefer paper over digital. BUT torrents will be much more popular thanks to this. There is the entire Kindle collection available at 50+gb numerous places.
We start sucking face like teenagers and the boys turn and run from the room. Works every time.
As a kid my mom would make peppermint patties out of powdered sugar and peppermint oil and food coloring. Super basic.
The rain is here and the snow will soon be gone. Hopefully that means I will be able to go paragliding again soon. Thankfully it won't be too warm and wet to melt off the waterfall before we head back Wednesday.
Sadly one of our local bars is closing as her 5 year lease is up. I don't blame her, keeping a business going in this state is not easy. 5 years was a good run.
