Also, briefly looking at coracle source I see there is a setting to whether reply to AUTH automatically or not but it seems I’m missing it in settings

nostr:npub1jlrs53pkdfjnts29kveljul2sm0actt6n8dxrrzqcersttvcuv3qdjynqn does Coracle automatically respond to all AUTH requests sent by all relays?

Asking because of a recent discussion with nostr:npub13f5edp5przy3sm0nnrrj205vgstuuul7s98datn7ekqahh54x6kqufgvmt today.

I tested it today, added my relay and connection was not successful. My relay always sends AUTH on connection. I haven’t debugged it yet though.

You would get ~$23,000 assuming:

1) you are 30 yo

2) avg advertisement is 30 seconds

3) you spent 10% of your life watching ads

Again, hope it just me over pessimistic.

But I’m looking at my personal experience at nostr and its not comparable to what was on twitter at all, not by quantity but by quality, I have to watch tiktok after deleting twitter :)

I look at nostr global stats and they are very disappointing

I look at your profile and see you are ex relay operator :(

I still don’t see even a hint to people working on incentives to run a relay - I don’t ask for incentives already, I don’t even see people who think its important :)

So yeah, there are some vibe happening at making twitter clones and rewriting internet to work on a single mobile device, but in general it seems to me there is rather nothing to be happy about long term

I don’t watch his presentations, its enough to see such a clickbait text.

Nostr protocol is as permissionless as websockets protocol or http protocol or tcp/ip protocol — it just passes data around in a specific format

Notably, http and websocket protocols host facebook and jp morgan which most of the people consider centralized.

The way that nostr introduced specific API format to build apps is not an innovation. The fact that people decided to attach lnurl to each post conveniently and branded it under cool name - is awesome but also doesn’t bring anything new

Only if developers AND users who use bitcoin untie around this idea and this protocol could make it censorship resistant, permissionless and help bitcoin adoption

Simple test, if ā€œthe nostr protocolā€ would be not websocket but http would it change things dramatically? If today FB added possibility to zap for citizens of Vatican would it dramatically improve the way bitcoin transfers are working today?

Bitcoin is great. Nostr is awesome. None of the is mainstream. Both have huge potential. No need to clickbait and manipulate people in order to… idk what? Attract newbies? Improve own followers base?

I wouldn’t say you CAN’T solve social problem without ability to communicate online

Don’t you find it interesting so called ā€œsocial problemsā€ were solved much better and much more times before internet invention?

And this is cool! But it has nothing to do with ā€œnostr is the future of bitcoin paymentsā€.

I just hate when people who promote bitcoin, where often times values are ā€œstay humbleā€, ā€œDYORā€, ā€œlow time preferenceā€ — use the dirtiest click bait tricks from regular social media just to sound more cool. Its wrong. Its lies

Nostr didn’t change anything in terms of bitcoin payments not it could change anything with those payments in foreseeable future

Nostr is great and disruptive but we should not spread straight lies in favor of some hype.

Nostr is payments agnostic. It doesn’t have any connections to bitcoin except for the fact that many early nostr devs happen to be also bitcoin enthusiasts

So you seriously consider about some rebel internet system. And you start with examples of Iran, China and Korea. Given that it seems in Korean democracy won free internet a decade ago — don’t you think you are trying to solve social problem with technical solutions?

P.S Or am I wrong about Korean example? Is there something special regarding theie internet except for one of the best cyber sportsmen?

Yes, I agree, I’m just trying to be realistic - nostr today doesn’t have a lot of problems not because nostr solved them - but mostly because there are no interest to abuse nostr right now because of the tiny userbase

However, constant messages about how great nostr today makes a lot of unaware people to believe that will always stay the same. And others as a consequence believe nothing should be done with nostr cause nostr already won

Instead it would be great to focus on future and understand what should be improved :)

Brief speech of condemnations, on or about 11 November 2023

Prince Turki Al-Faisal

Saudi Arabia's former intelligence chief and former envoy to US, UK

All military occupied people have a right to resist their occupation, even militarily.

I do not support the military option in Palestine.

I prefer the other option: civil insurrection and disobedience.

It brought down the British Empire in India and the Soviet Empire in Eastern Europe.

Israel has overwhelming military superiority and we see in front of our eyes, the devastation and oblivion it is brining to the people of Gaza.

I categorically condemn Hamas' targeting of civilian targets of any age or gender, as it is accused of.

Such targeting belies Hamas' claims to an Islamic identity.

There is an Islamic injunction against the killing of innocent children, women and elders.

The injunction is also against the desecration of places of worship.

I also condemn Hamas' gifting the higher moral ground to an Israeli government that is universally shunned, even by half of the Israeli public as fascist, miscreant and abhorrent.

I condemn Hamas for giving this awful government the excuse to ethnically cleanse Gaza of its citizens and bombing them to oblivion.

I condemn Hamas to further undermining the Palestinian Authority as Israel has been doing.

I condemn Hamas for sabotaging the attempt of Saudi Arabia to reach a peaceful resolution to the plight of the Palestinian people.

But equally, I condemn Israel's indiscriminate bombing of Palestinian innocent civilians in Gaza and the attempt to forcibly drive them into Sinai.

I condemn Israeli targeted killing and the indiscriminate arrest of Palestinian children, women and men in the West Bank.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

I've been hearing a repeated phrase in American media: unprovoked attack.

What more provocation is required to make it provoked than what Israel has done to the Palestinian people for three quarters of a century?

I refer you to the article in the Middle East Monitor of February 17, 2014 under the title: Israeli army veterans admit role in massacre of Palestinians in 1948.

Read it and weep as I did.

Just this year, from May to July, over 450 Palestinians were killed, including 67 children.

This bloodletting must stop.

I condemn Israel's stealing of Palestinian lands.

I condemn Israeli colonists for rampaging through houses of worship in Al-Asqa Mosque in Jerusalem.

I condemn Israel for destroying Palestinian homes and olive orchards.

I condemn Israel for incarcerating Palestinian women, children and men in concentration camps without recourse to due process.

I condemn Israel's targeted killings and assassinations of Palestinians.

I condemn Israel for funneling Qatari money to Hamas, the terrorist group as defined by Israel.

I condemn Western politicians for shedding tears when Israelis are killed by Palestinians, but refuse to even express sorrow when Israelis kill Palestinians.

There are no heroes in this conflict. Only victims.

People who just condemn any violence are just tyrants/aggressors supporters. Unfortunately, this is how the world works

Mike has a real vision here. Whenever I need to remind myself how gossip works I read this again. Especially the section on personal relays.

I think personal relays can easily expand into smaller shared relays too.. keep in mind that the two most popular clients have yet to implement gossip, but when they do, it's on like donkey Kong!

The most flawed approach for a regular client that normies would use. Its interesting though for crawlers and similar of course

Well, first, while you can’t use twitter without being logged in, there is still no KYC. You can easily use it with proton main or similar or even with your self hosted email service with some efforts and virtual/prepaid phone numbers, no KYC at all

But if spreading links (lnurl) is ā€œsending bitcoin paymentsā€ then the future is already here — just print lnurl qr code and put it in real world on walls and trees, no KYC and sign up

I just don’t understand why ppl need to attach some magic to nostr that has no relation to it.

Do we really want to manipulate people to join nostr because of the things nostr doesn’t completely relate to?
