Shipped a relatively bug free Nos to the App Store. Facilitated the pivot to Communities.

I wonder, nostr:npub1j60x528w2g2vkq5kae5uhh8y7sezjyj20zcsg0v9muc72cmdpu0s0md7ua is there a recording of the journalism event from this summer? You did an amazing job of presenting nostr with no dependence at all on bitcoin. I don’t even recall it being mentioned, and I your client Nos.social basically doesn’t incorporate Bitcoin into the UI at all, if I’m not mistaken?

Thanks for the shoutout! I haven’t posted the video anywhere yet - needs a bit of editing.

I did write this for the nos website which talks about Nostr and makes no mention of Bitcoin.

Curious if you think it has the same impact?

Contact list wipes is not an uncommon nostrability issue.

My list seems ok

No idea. One thing to note we are not losing our entire lists only parts of them. In my case I lost most people in two separate instances

I lost my follows list. It wasn’t personal! Sorry!

I’m not sure the message going out is Nostr is more than X alternative. The message is Nostr is censorship resistant. And that message only resonates with a small set of people. It’s an important feature to have if you need it but it’s not a daily requirement for most people.

Nostr enables a social app ecosystem that puts people in charge of their feed including how they want to experience content moderation, their social graph, and their app experience.

Don’t like the toxic conversation on X, try Nostr.

Don’t like algorithmic ad driven feeds, build your own on Nostr.

Don’t want to recreate your social graph/ friend community every time you want to try a new app, check out Nostr.

Sick of 4-factor authentication and lost passwords, check out Nostr’s dead simple key pair for account access.

Speak to the pain points people have with existing platforms.

Wow Israelis are calling for a general strike to force Netanyahu into a ceasefire. I hope it works for the sake of everyone. His actions are out of control.

I used to think these were fairy tale only, but they do in fact exist in the wild.

And no I did not pick them or even touch them.

Yes you need to enter your nsec to get full features of the clients. Many of the mobile app and desktop clients use the on device keychain to store your nsec. This means when you enter it into the app it goes into your private on device keychain rather into the app. Nos.social does this and I’m pretty sure the other major apps do this as well.

Presently zaps are a way to show loyalty to the most popular people on Nostr. They reinforce existing hierarchies and social norms in the space. Zaps are not working for Creators or Journalists unless those creators and journalists talk about Nostr or Bitcoin.

Exhibit A: this quote post which is opaque but said by someone with clout receives more zaps than over half of the creators combined in the Nos Creator residency.

Why are we zapping a billionaire more $$ but not zapping people who are making original content on Nostr?

If we train an LLM on Nostr today - 100 people would get all the zaps and everyone else would get pennies which is what the current fiat system has evolved into.

If the goal instead is to use AI behind the scenes to improve the ledger / accounting then we need to ask how the llm was trained and by who and have transparency about the connections to it etc.

Lots of people have experimented w/ micropayments for journalism and they have all been unsuccessful for various reasons. When it comes to social media and journalism, the payment experience is in the wrong place - meaning it’s before the link is clicked, rather than onsite after the article / media has been consumed. Nostr potentially solves this bc it supports long form content within the ecosystem but first journalists/ news orgs need to migrate to Nostr.

And they will not do that if we keep zapping hot takes about how cool Nostr is instead of original, thought provoking content.

Instead of zapping this reply find a journalist or news outlet and zap their content!
