There are very few consistent people, and I've been disappointed that even in Bitcoin that number is so low. This admin is EXACTLY the same as the last. While the Biden Admin was stifling free speech by preventing any criticism of minorities, this admin is doing exactly that with Israel. While the previous admin let in countless immigrants with complete disregard of its impact on society, this admin is killing due process, rejecting court decisions and destroying families. This is not a left vs right thing, the right was never going to fix anything. We just needed them to stay OUT and let people and the market function. They're doing the exact opposite. Call out bullshit when you see it and stop assigning yourself to a tribe.

I'm livid. I'm also stunned that Americans are supporting this. What happened to us? We have become callous, cold, vengeful. We forgot there was a reason we had due process. The Bitcoiners supporting this are the worst people and LARPers. This is not why we wanted a change in the govt.
X is now filled with people who want Elon's cock, people who want Trump and Elon's cock together, and people who pretend they are bastions of free speech until it's speech they disagree with. What ya fucking world
Couldn't agree more. The Right are equally bad and the same LARPers as the left. They want to clamp down on free speech using "Terrorism" and "National Security" as threats while the Left wants it cause it's "Hurtful" to others.
This election cycle should remind us again that there is no particular party "pro speech". There were numerous Bitcoiners who became obsessed with Trump and actually started believing their own BS that the man would be a savior. In the first 3 months, Trump has definitely done some good, rolled back the harsh restrictions on Bitcoin that the Dems favored, laid out an economic blueprint, which is leaps and bounds more than what the Dems were doing, and generally acted on what they campaigned on.
What's extremely chilling though is their allegiance to Isreal and labeling any anti - Israel criticism as a "antisemitism", using the state apparatus to cut funding when speech doesn't align with Israel interests.
This is dangerous. I know everyone will suddenly become 1A lawyers, defending those actions citing laws that it doesn't violate, but this is something bigger- it's ushering a narrative, a fear that funding will be rolled back if you hold an opinion that departs from theirs. It's bringing back the cycle of self censorship.
There are Bitcoiners who've been in the space since 2014 and get a lot of Podcasts and have a say, who were all in on Trump but have been extremely quiet about where all this is headed.
I hope they find the balls to call BS, otherwise like many other after and before then they would be the same hypocrites who don't really have a strong constitution.
It's fucking disgusting. I'm embarrassed that they would go this far to protect the Israeli lobby. What the fuck is happening here and does it mean the tide has to go to the other extreme before pulling back? We saw what happened with Wokeness, this is now Wokeness from the Right
Two main reasons imo:
1. Nostr is new so hasn't been corrupted by idiots yet. A lot more nuanced people
2. No character limit
I think you'll find lot of the responses to be similar. There are two ways to look at this: Putin was wrong, Ukraine has a right to defend itself, and the whole world is responsible for funding that, even if it comes at the expense of WW2 or at minimum a bloody kinetic war. In all of this, Ukraine continues to lose young men, knowing very well that they will never win.
The other way to look at it is we have to do something about this- let's negotiate peace with the aggressor, even if that means ceding ground. Yes the terms are not great but they never are for the losing side. It's not ideal but it's the only way you get to peace.
The US cannot embroil itself in another forever war especially with debt and deficits this high. Another war impacts it's already fragile debt levels and ruins a lot of lives though inflation.
so yeah, it's a difficult position but there isn't a straight easy answer
I am conflicted here. I sort of agree with the screenshot. Not having high signal Bitcoiners on X reduces the chances of new entrants to understand Bitcoin, Privacy, Security. Yes, eventually everyone will own BTC and Nostr might become a thing, it's not right now. You don't want to only spend time in a. echo chamber talking to the people on your side.
Twitter was a MASSIVE influence on my BTC journey. If I hadn't followed Saif, Gigi, Odell, Adam Back, etc, I'm not sure I would have understood the depth of Bitcoin. Twitter led me to Podcasts, then books, then conversations, then realizing that a lot of people I initially followed in 2015-2016 were idiots and not really Bitcoiners and ultimately led me to Nostr.
You have to meet people where they are and they are not on Nostr. Let's try and help each class of Bitcoin to get their bearings right. You only need to convince a few people from each class and the network organically grows.
Man its so crazy seeing Nostr develop in front of my eyes. Last 3 years have been so incredible. New signups, new content. You can see it go places! Future is hopeful
