A Columbia University graduate student and greencard holder faces deportation simply for organizing a protest against Israel's Gaza campaign. ICE is aggressively moving to revoke his permanent residency based solely on his peaceful protest. Even more disturbing, Trump has threatened to strip citizenship from others. This outrageous assault on fundamental rights should terrify anyone who values free speech in America!
Discussion
I think he's disgusting for his support of Hamas animals, but I don't think Trump's approach is sound. He should have been arrested for a specific crime if he'd committed one. This seems underhanded and murky, which is never good when politics and law are concerned.
Can't criticize Israel. That's the rule. Everybody knows that.
When I'm in Russia, Uzbekistan, The Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, or The Dominican Republic. I keep my opinions to myself. I certainly don't advertise them. I definitely don't hate on the country I'm visiting.
No sympathy.
He’s not a tourist or visiting the US, he’s a greencard holding permanent resident. He’s married to an american citizen, his child is an american citizen.
He can pray to God. If he's a target then there is a reason.
Every time I was arrested I was innocent, too. 😂
No sympathy.
He's pissed off someone. I've been anti-government for a very long time and I have always spoke my mind. I've even served in the military. So what.
He will be charged and have to go to court. If someone wanted him dead he'd be dead. If he's right then the process will prevail in truth.
He's not innocent. They don't randomly choose people. He has stepped on the wrong toes. So be it.
Don't feel sorry for him.
If he's innocent then he'll be fine. If not, then he made a mistake moving here.
I have no sympathy.
This is the most cucked, boot licking thing I've read in a while.
Actually your response is,
Guy got deported for trespassing, and blackmail.
🥱.
"He's not innocent. They don't randomly choose people."
Both factually wrong.
He's not innocent.
He literally led an extortion campaign meanwhile trespassing.
Does he have a conviction?
It's in court right now to see if he'll be deported, you don't need to be convicted of a crime or put on criminal trial to be deported as a green card holder.
He's not a citizen. Period.
He's getting due process - which where he comes from, doesn't exist.
You said he's not innocent, which is false unless he has a conviction.
Now who's the boot licking cuck?
He tried to extort his university for his aims.
Self admitted by the way...
And he's getting due process, I think you need a refresh on what other countries do.
If he tried some shit like that in his country he is get deported to Allah.
Innocent until proven guilty and pretending like the state doesn't harass people randomly is boot licking
Bruh he led "negotiations" with the university.
There is no mystery here.
He hasn't gotten deported yet, the judge is giving him due process.
What about due process don't you understand?
The original post said "he's not innocent", in America everyone is innocent until proven guilty. So unless he was convicted of the crimes you're saying he is, then he is, by definition innocent.
He is guilty of attempt to extort a university.
Wether he gets deported for that is up to the judge.
But he's is 100% guilty of "leading negotiation". By self admission. By his wife's admission.
Looks like you're the bootlicking cuck in this thread
I'm for factual description of what actually happens.
Conflating freedom of speech with freedom to extort/blackmail is the exact mind virus that plagues the masses you're pretending to be distancing yourself from.
I'm pro property rights & anti Communist tendencies which was what was put on display in Columbia University & led by the guy in question in this thread.
I don't believe someone with a Palestinian flag virtue signal in his handle to have an objective view of what's happening with this case.
Rabble is also aligned with the leftist view 100% of the time - is what it is when you've premade your mind on each topic through that lens.
& Btw I wouldn't deport this guy, but I'm not going to pretend he's innocent and some martyr bc he's not & that's just the truth.
Property rights are for bootlicking cucks
I didn't read rabble's post, never seen him post anything of value
Didn't read half of whatever you just posted either
Good luck with the consequences of your choices, you were born a little late to get away with ignoring climate change 🤙
Oh, this was a rabble post I reposted 9 days ago
But other than that
What's the point of interacting with me if you do so in such bad faith?
I won't respond genuinely to you anymore, it's a waste.
I'm prepared for a changing climate, just as I am prepared for a changing in economics or ability to maintain property rights.
For now, America is the best place to be.
You've never responded genuinely to anything in front of me, let alone to me
I will keep calling out your bullshit and if you'll escalate your level of bullshit in response you'll continue to need luck with the consequences
It's not an attack on free speech. Trump is protecting the Jewish agenda.
It's an attack on this text "...the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
I understand the principle you're applying. My point is that Trump is not attacking the princple. He's not trying to do away with it. He's helping out Israel with a specific problem they have.
I don't know much about Isreal, but the bill of rights gets demolished more and more each decade.
Just watch. Does he use this on any other issue or does it always seem to involve Israel?
I don't know. I don't follow the news much. I've only been payimg attention these days because of the SBR.
I guess what I'm saying is don't worry too much about constitutional violations. Worry about who we're being sold to.
Blackmail and extortion is not free speech or a right protected by the bill or constitution.
Guy can't expect to attempt to strongarm a university using blackmail and keep his green card.
🥱.
didn't Trump's ice/dhs lackeys literally just deport a soccer player from venezuela to that extrajudicial prison in el salvador over a tatoo and a hand sign on Instagram?
Here's a dhs puff piece from the nypost: https://nypost.com/2025/03/20/us-news/dhs-hits-back-at-viral-claims-about-venezuelan-soccer-player-who-was-deported-to-el-salvador/
It's laughable.
The guy is claiming he's a soccer player. But I don't know any more about it than that.
This is the right answer.
All normal people can see is "antisemitism on college campuses"
This isn't a freedom of speech issue. Go figure.
He was a Graduate Student until December. It's March when he was arrested.
Clearly it says he's a Palestinian Activist and not an American!
He's stupid. He should finish he's education. Get a job and take care of his family. He's not helping anyone.

Ah ok, I suppose we’ll be deporting all the supporters of Israel’s genocide now too? Says right there in the post “slaughtering innocent men women and children…”
He's getting deported for blackmail not for speech
No
Yes.
Squatting on private property and then leading negotiations by demanding things is straight up blackmail
there is a rich history of campus protests in this country. but if you think people should be kicked out of a place for squatting on property and demanding things I suggest you check out No Other Land
Green card holders aren't citizens who can make demands.
There's a difference in rights when you're a citizen, full stop.
I don't believe people should be able to come as guests and then try to extort universities.
But that's just me.
It is just you. You can read about this story online. No blackmail, no extortion or whatever you’re making up. Meanwhile the rest of us will be continuing to oppose the genocide.
At least we can agree that people shouldn’t come to a place as guests and then proceed to steal land or bomb universities or hospitals or bulldoze homes or destroy the entire country and then make demands for everyone who lives there to leave.
What do you describe squatting on private property & then making demands or else?
How is that not blackmail?
Protesting is fine, blackmail isn't.
Further, i don't know what the war has to do with this topic or my original point.
No one is talking about the war here, as this man chose to move to the USA with full knowledge that the USA is a supporter of Israel as its the only place in the middle east where people can coexist regardless of faith.
Hence the 2M Palestinians living with Israeli passports in Israel.
This man also CHOSE to go to Columbia University with full knowledge that they are supporters of Israel.
What a joke.
Didn't ask
nostr:npub1ugnq57hn8va6xqr5zywy2eunem6c624583vkt0dmv40ep7tnnxkqrr898l so you’re saying he shouldn’t have first amendment rights to protest the policies of the university he attended? And despite not being convicted of a crime he should lose residency in the country and the right to live with his wife and child because he lead a protest?!
If it were up to me I wouldn't deport him.
I wouldn't want him to be the rallying cry for the leftists & I wouldn't want to make him famous.
But to be honest, if you're gonna be a green card holder you should be smarter if you actually didn't want this to be a potential outcome.
This makes me think that he wanted this to happen because he seems like a smart fellow.
He didn't simply protest though,
His wife's words:
"When things started at Columbia, his main role was the lead negotiator [between student protesters and Columbia administrators.]"
& to reiterate my only point on this matter;
This is not a freedom of speech issue, it's a non-citizen blackmail issue.
To say that this deportation attempt threatens free speech laws is insane.
I think Twitter banning Trump was a freedom of speech issue.
What was your stance on that at the time?
Just wondering because most leftists who claim freedom of speech is important were quiet or vocally stating that Twitter has a right to ban him.
Protests without leverage achieve nothing. Occupying property is a fundamental tool of non-violent civil resistance as developed by MLK and others. If you ask politely, nobody gives up power or agrees to changes.
I never said you can't protest your beliefs and make a rukus,
Just don't cry foul when the consequences are achieved.
Considering the words his wife spoke, he knew damn well this was a possibility & in my opinion he wanted this to happen.
He's famous now. Their peoples love them a martyr.
In most countries a permanent resident has almost all the rights of a citizen. In the US they’re allowed to donate to political campaigns and hold local elected office. They part of the system not visitors.
As a permanent resident in Aotearoa New Zealand I can vote just like citizens.
Free speech rights extend to everyone regardless of immigration status.
I understand this PoV, but blackmail isn't covered under freedom of speech & this isnt New Zealand.
Green card holders do not carry the same rights.
I understand wanting the laws changed to this effect, but it still wouldn't apply to freedom of speech.
why are you redefining the concept of a protest as blackmail lmao
Sounds like we're deporting netanyahu too when he comes back
It's fucking disgusting. I'm embarrassed that they would go this far to protect the Israeli lobby. What the fuck is happening here and does it mean the tide has to go to the other extreme before pulling back? We saw what happened with Wokeness, this is now Wokeness from the Right
Maybe all these comments are and can be correct in a timeline view.
Was the person trying to share the truth about what’s going on in Gaza and the involvement of different parties including Russia and so on? As well as information about the bans against the Jewish occupation and settlers?
Under U.S. immigration law, a green card can be revoked if the holder is found to have engaged in activities that threaten national security, support terrorism, or violate the terms of their residency. Similarly, a student visa can be canceled for criminal behavior or overstaying its purpose. The government’s case likely hinges on Section 212(a)(3) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which bars individuals who have engaged in terrorist activities or are affiliated with terrorist organizations, broadly defined to include ideological support or incitement.
Oh it’s entirely legal, just not moral or right. Slavery was legal. The holocaust was legal. Marital rape was legal.
You can designate just about any organization to “terrorist” and then broaden the concept of material support, and boom you’ve got the ability to strip rights from anyone you want.
is there any form of protest that you believe *would* justify the revocation of a green card or student visa? There must be some line, right? Honest question.
It's legal to blackmail universities on their own private property?
Do you think that should be legal?
Occupy someone else's property & then blackmail them.
Seems like a no go for property rights.
Don't like their policies go to a different university/country.
I usually stay out of the political fray, but I'm curious, how is it immoral to invite an unwelcome guest to kindly leave? I don't see how it's comparable to slavery, genocide or rape.
He literally led an extortion campaign against the University.
Look it up & start being honest.
They phrase it as "led negotiations" but in reality they were trespassing on private property and then blackmailing / extorting the school to do their bidding.
nostr:npub1ugnq57hn8va6xqr5zywy2eunem6c624583vkt0dmv40ep7tnnxkqrr898l you know what: Free speech means people say stuff you find horrific. It’s not free speech if you agree with what everyone says.
Freedom of speech on public property is a right.
On private property, if you establish an encampment & then start negotiating for things you want or else....that's blackmail / extortion.
