Why buy food if it’s going to be cheaper next year?

Think of all the people who are going to starve under a bitcoin standard if food keeps getting cheaper.

Just so long as it’s clear to people that nostr isn’t anonymous and that govts could track us whenever they want. I suspect that, because all messages are broadcast without encryption (like emails), they are being logged for future analysis (like Snowden revealed).

IMHO, this is nostr’s biggest flaw. We can’t have censorship resistance without privacy. I expect people will start censoring themselves as soon as someone is punished for posting something.

We shouldn’t tell people that it’s anonymous.

Your IP address is associated to your posts. If I were the govt, I would be running nostr relays collecting all the good stuff: eg. Who DMs whom, what you post and your IP address, etc.

I read it the year after it came out. I remember wondering how accurate it would be. It’s weird now to look back on it from the future. What an incredible book. One of my all time favorites.

Part of me thinks that the fourth turning will need to run its course and the best option is to just get out of the way. Move to a peaceful beach and grow cherry tomatoes. Build communities in person and online.

We’re dealing with a civilizational cycle, on a generational timescale. We need to be patient. It will take time to improve.

My strategy has been to keep my head down, with multiple passport and residency options. Move to the freest places and work quietly on tech solutions.

Like you, I’m also optimistic about the future. The next generation will be building into a brighter future. Our job is to protect and prepare them.
