CREATOR OF LEGENDARY MEMES, SHITPOSTS, & WISDOM.

I still have my old files in a preserved VM. But the app crashes immediately on startup as I previously stated. There are no errors when I open it through the terminal to indicate what is wrong.

If you have encrypted backups of my channels, great, but as of right now this meme pretty much sums up how I feel about Alby Hub.

Before I was upset, but now I am livid.

I invite you to change that, but holy fuck!!!

I am going off of memory as this was several weeks ago. If i remember correctly this was the sequence of events.

First it was installed in a VM. Worked just fine for awhile. Found out that not keeping it on 24/7/365 could cause my channel partner to close my channel. Rushed online to check what was going on after migrating the vm to a new computer. Tried to open up alby hub then every time it would successfully authenticate the password. Then the app would immediately would crash.

Installed alby hub desktop onto a other computer natively this time. Reconnected the wallet to alby via the extention. This time the app did not crash. Instead i got a full transaction history, but a 0 account balance. No confirmations that there was ever a forced channel closure, but that is what everyone told me what happened.

Tried to get support. It was not only from a very rude person, but basically was told I was too advanced of a user to support and that they can't be expected to support everything. Then was to try restoring the wallet again.

Mentioned the story on Nostr in a post. Then alby responded after i called it alpha quality software. Then the rude customer support rep reached back out to me on Nostr, then emailed me, and had the audacity to say I didn't have to be rude. I could only assume that he got in trouble or something and was sour about it.

I did not respond back to the second email. I have not checked on anything since then. Quite frankly I was furious at the balls of that person to respond the way he did.

So I felt it was more mature of me to just let it go. Accept that this is what happens when you go against your gut instincts to not use a piece of software. I want my sats back obviously, but I am up shits creek without a paddle.

I stopped using Alby Hub.

Why would I use a lightning wallet that already lost my funds?

Right now I am forced into a custodial option that makes my stomach churn, but at least it hasn't been down, or lost my money yet.

Now I am hoping and motivating developers on Nostr gather together. To code their Nostr clients to also accept on-chain bitcoin for people on their posts. Until lightning becomes a mature enough technology where shit like this does not happen to us on a regular basis.

Tell that to my alby hub wallet with a 0 balance and a forced closed channel without warning. It has been over 2 weeks and voila jack shit has appeared in my on chain wallet.

All I hear from any lightning wallet provider is excuses for lost funds, or payment systems being down. On chain bitcoin does not have this problem.

As much as I appreciate the lightning technology and innovations in open source. No one should use a lightning wallet for holding their Bitcoin in the long term.

This is a wild west frontier technology that in my eyes is very beta quality and not ready for the average user. Maybe my mind will change in 5-10 years or so.

There are 3 of you out there who are very close to winning a Legendary Nostr Award.

I am monitoring your progress closely now.

Waiting for you to create that 1 new Legendary post to unlock your new Legendary status on Nostr.

I realized the very same thing yesterday after receiving feedback. Switched to a more authentic freeform posting style. Updated my about section in my profile to reflect what I am all about too.

The more and more I have to work with lightning. The less I want to have it as my only payment option on Nostr. On-chain bitcoin is far superior and Nostr developers need to recognize that this technology is neither stable, or desirable for any serious content creators on this platform.

You are not the only one that has lost all of their funds to Alby Hub. Only to have their customer support be rude, gaslighting, and inconsiderate.

Lost somewhere between 15,000-18,000 sats. 2 months worth of Nostr posts. I will probably never see it ever again.

If there is ever a class action lawsuit in the distant future. Count me in.

From what I understand and remember it is very similar. I would use the calc tutorials. For if you master calc you can export it into Microsoft formats. Then impress the hiring manager by saying that while yes, you can use excel, but did you know you could save your company a lot of money by switching to LibreOffice instead?

It is used by many governments, hospitals, non profits, and savings savy companies around the world.
