Easier said than done, what with work and family and international immigration policies and taxes and what not. But yeah, as someone who didn’t grow up in a gun-toting country, it’s wild to me the kind of shit that some people consider normal, necessary or even desirable. Reminds me of the analogy of a frog in a pot of slowly-boiling water.
As Confucius once said:
“Man who want big block
Probably have small cock”

Wow the comments on that thread are pure concentrated cancer
Didn’t say it was any different in terms of enforceability of property rights, but at least you can prove to other collectors that you bought the thing and what its provenance is, which is what matters most to those who care about the art in the first place. Like I said, it does create a cool new distribution channel, but most of the good in the space is drowned out by hot garbage.
Somewhere buried deep in the sea of scams and grift is a really neat channel for artists to distribute directly to consumers. I’ve seen some cool art concepts, like Scales by Anna Judd, create neat new ways of engaging with and collecting art pieces.
Of course, price was never a factor with this project, and that’s kind of the point. Most of the content produced in the space is a low-effort, thinly veiled pump and dump *at best*.
Take it from a guy whose PFP is a $300 jpeg of a duck wearing sunglasses and smoking a cigarette.

If only I could get mine to bloom 🤬
Talk about gilding the lily. That looks excellent.
👀 And is that fleur de sel? Clearly a person of culture.
Ah RIP 🪦
Honestly the best way to wrap your head around it is to try it.
In a minute I’ll DM you a Cashu token worth a few sats. The link will have you join my mint to accept the tokens. Then you can add some other mint (say https://8333.space:3338 ), transfer the tokens to that mint, then withdraw them to your LN wallet.
In that sequence of events, my mint won’t know who you are, nor will the other mint you transfer to.
In this setup you can use these LN-integrated mints to transact with other parties with exceptional privacy.
The difference with cashu is that the tokens are just an abstraction of satoshis that were deposited on whatever mint issued them. They’re redeemable for LN satoshis on the mint that created them or you can transfer them from mint to mint via LN. You don’t mint Cashu tokens for hodling; you mint them to transact with better privacy than on-chain or even Lightning.
The key with Cashu is that you need to trust the mint(s) you use, and/or create your own mint, the easiest way being to install the Cashu extension on LNBits.

I used to subscribe to a portfolio tracker app and at the end of 2022 I reset my messy cost basis by selling all my various crypto assets back to fiat, then DCA’d back into bitcoin only. Just realized I can cancel that portfolio subscription… if bitcoin is up then so am I. PV.
