#31days

lots of walking and bucket-carrying, plus:

20 minutes with my kettlebells (lower body), including 100 swings (thanks to nostr:npub1q6ya7kz84rfnw6yjmg5kyttuplwpauv43a9ug3cajztx4g0v48eqhtt3sh). I'm now adding in 100 swings per day and am aiming to be able to do 50 at a time by the end of Sept. Today was 41, 41, 18

26!

actually 27 because yesterday you did all that walking plus the 100 swings

(BTW I've heard that zero-carb = no soreness, which is interesting.)

At the local level, with everyone having full access to the decision making (and ability to adjust course as needed), that sounds lovely.

How do you define safety, education and healthcare?

Those in particular have changed meaning substantially over the last 100 years, so you'd need to get very clear on them if a community is going to agree to support them. E.g. for me access to healthcare means good food, water, and sunshine with a nearby emergency room in case of an accident, but in this age of corporate control over what is generally called public health, "healthcare" usually means access to pharmaceuticals.

wait - what?!

So social media needs to be centralized (and huge) so that it can have a very powerful founder who pushes back on the inevitable censorship. Is that the argument?

I think I remember Tim Ferriss once saying that if he could only do one exercise, and with the idea of minimum effective dose, it was kettlebell swings. 75 of them. I assume in a row

So, yeah, makes sense that you're feeling it all over!

Ha! I would have done sets of 12 or 20. Well, turns out I can do 40 swings in a row. Now I know

Uuuuuuuuuugh...

Given a tangential bit if inspiration from nostr:nprofile1qqst8tznun44qc4h7d68ucl7w0n8z96d4urxvrhhrhrj5uwfw8ka3ycpr9mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wdmksetjv5hxxmmd9udryvjr and Beth (whom I can't tag right now because of that annoying bitcoin symbol in her nym), I decided to be a complete idiot and do 100 kettlebell swings with the one kettlebell I currently have: a 40 pounder. (~18kg for the godless Heathens.)

Have I ever done this before?

No.

Isn't that a bit batty?

Yes.

Was it hard?

Very.

But did you die?

Not yet.

I'm gonna feel this tomorrow, for sure. Ugh.

Oh. Yeah. This was after my 2.75mi walk.

Ok, so thanks to your post, I put 100 swings into my workout. It was otherwise focused on upper body (pushups, tricep thingies with the kettlebell, windmill with kb, some ab work, etc). I don't know how you managed 100 swings in a row 😬. I did 40, 30, 30.

But you've inspired me: I'll add 100 swings to all of my workouts for the rest of #31days and I'll work up to 2 sets of 50.

Let us know how you feel tomorrow!

I love sharing! I just don't like being forced to do it in accordance with the choices of a few well-armed people.

One of the things that we tend to miss in these conversations is scale: in a tribe of people, you have enough close relationships - and enough accountability of the leaders - that taxation as sharing for the public good makes a lot of sense.

In a system with millions of people and no accountability for those forcing the "sharing," it's theft. To make it worse, those same thieves can also print the money that you're forced (again, under threat of violence) to use, and your assets go up in price because they're debasing the money.

We can discuss all those things you mentioned, and do that within a small enough community that we actually have a say in how the money is being spent and what taxation should look like.

whoa! good for you! I'm just about to do my workout and I might tweak it to keep you (belated) company on the swings. With my 35lb bell

will report back in a bit

Ha! I think I just zapped you twice instead of posting this note.

He looks so ready for something

(and those little feet!!! πŸ₯°)

I'm in a beautiful place but rarely see the ocean! thanks for this photo πŸ’œ

For swings, make sure you look at several tutorials first. Many people hyperextend their lower backs when they swing (at the top of the swing you need a bit of a hip thrust but it can end with a nice firm glute/neutral pelvis rather than with the pelvis way forward, which can put strain on the lower back).

In any case, kettlebells are awesome! so much you can do with them. I didn't add to the early list Bulgarian split squats πŸ™‚

Keep us posted!
