There are many good books on this. But the bottom line is a 51% attack would be known to be coming LONG before it happened. And probably action would be taken to prevent it (1000's of us turn on old mining equipment and many other things).
But even if there was an attack - it's not a death blow - it's a minor ripple in the block that could be righted in the next block once the attacker and situation was known.
It's obviously more complicated than this - but the only thing the banks can do is block the on/off ramps. And if they do that they will just drive innovation on the currency side of #Bitcoin.
Nothing banks can do OTHER than get their own house in order and compete in a FREE market.
For some perspective. In the 60's the big scare was we would run out of farmland. It was predicted that by 2000 we would have to eat each other to stay alive because there would not be enough farmland to grow the food needed to feed the population.
That was a few Billion people ago. Not only did we figure out how to feed twice the people but we have overabundance of food. There are dozens, if not hundreds of examples of experts predicting "peak [pick your favorite resource].
Why is this? Technology. Human ingenuity. Matter of fact, the last 50 years NONE of the 'end of time' predictions ever materialized. And actually everything has gotten better - except maybe Government! https://cei.org/blog/wrong-again-50-years-of-failed-eco-pocalyptic-predictions/
nostr:npub1cn4t4cd78nm900qc2hhqte5aa8c9njm6qkfzw95tszufwcwtcnsq7g3vle what happens to bitcoin in a peak oil reality where energy costs spike?
Maybe this is a dumb question but I’m still getting a play of The land here.
Bitcoin hydro eplodes? Also Nuclear mining farms take off.
But that's going to happen anyway. Peak oil is a myth. We are not running out of oil. Every decade since the 1960's we move out peak oil - technology fixes the supply.
And electric will be felt in early 2030's and oil will be left in the ground.

Energy costs will spike in US$ terms, but not likely in terms of #Bitcoin.
We all should do this. Find people trying to escape the fiat slavery in other countries. Don't name them here, YOU do your own research and seek out people. Distributed network.
Your 100K SATS up to 1M SATS can make a HUGE difference.
Take your time - there are a lot of scammers. You can find them - even if it's only 10K sats that could be huge to someone where their Government steals most of their fiat.
BRILLIANTLY PUT.

Research architecture of past human civilization.
Visit some of the monuments around JUST the USA. They will move you - send chills up your spin. Why did your ansestors build these things? How? Why would they risk their lives to carve Presidents into the side of a mountain?
Answer these questions - and you will get a new lease on why you are alive.
Tucker is so right!
So true. Many people on social media are there to be brainwashed (I mean entertained). They want mind numbing cllips of stupid people doing stupid things. Or clips of sports. Laughs back and forth to numb themselves from a dismal life created by fiat.
So they ain't coming to Nostr any time soon - but I bet Nostr someday has all that TikTok has so those people end up here where large corporate interest are not rotting their brains!

She may regret this interview during the deflationary bust - then after we see what inflation really is - since the Fed will print $20+ trillion to save the system. Either way, she’s so bad.
I think 'authorities' understand this, but the more Central Government tries to attack or slow #Bitcoin, the faster it will be adopted.
Some say Bitcoin can still be stopped. I don't think so.
Your post is exactly what would happen - and mining would be more diversified than ever. BUT - I don't see it happening - this is targeting an industry. Politicians are stupid and make some very stupid decisions, but going after industry that can EASILY move to other nations (or go underground) would be the ultimate stupidity.
Saylor can't use private keys for his publicly traded company.
It would have to be in a custodian account, with multiple keys, verifications, to serve the corporate interests. But does that really matter?
Also, Microstratagies is just starting to develop around Bitcoin. We are so early yet on corporate adoption it's insane.
It depends on where you live and the fiat currency you use. In the US and most of the West, we all 'believe' our money is fine (or those that have not read 10 books on Economics and #Bitcoin anyway).
So Bitcoin is a store of value first and we will use the LESS valuable money (US$ or other fiat) for things.
BUT, if you live in Africa where the Government steals your money, or you family steals your money from you - Bitcoin is a currency life line too! Below video is a year old and has exploded since - it's a sight to watch/see all this unfold!
I 100% agree. But much of politics is NOT fixing the problem. Take poverty for example. The government has been talking about fixing poverty for 60 years. We spent over $22 trillion dollars to fix it.
We all still keep BELIEVING more money will fix it. They have lied for decades. It's definitely not fixed. Matter of fact we have transfered $50 trillion to the top 0.5% through Government spending (inflation/printing) creating MORE poverty!
So understanding the problem is very hard. And many poeple get VERY RICH selling the masses endless solutions to problems they have no idea how to fix. #Bitcoin fixes this.
After following politics for 40 years, you are 100% correct. No politics from within the system will fix it. But take away the purse strings from the Politicians, and they lose the power they have - and they lose the power to become worth 100's of millions 'serving' the people.
check out Nancy Pelosi, worth over $300 million and NEVER did anything in her life (she was born into a crime family on East coast and went to west cost decades ago to set up shop).
Pure evil. No way to fix without disrupting the money system. #Bitcoin does this.
I totally agree with what you are saying. The 'good guys' have not won so far - because the people in charge now are the bad guys!
What I'm saying is they will eventually lose.
to your point, it may be too late.
Right now, it's too late for the bad guys to win. We have breached the event horizon on Government borrowing money - $1 trillion the last 100 days. It's over - people just can't see it or feel it.
The ONLY way for them to lose is to have more people EXIT the US$ system (the base layer of the Elites control world wide).
Go to #Bitcoin sooner to fix the problem. We can NOT win inside the current financial system. Read TONS of books on Bitcoin so you know it's the solution - it won't jump out at someone at first.
This is popular view among some, but it’s not true - as is clearly the case by the most wealthy nations.
But - u have a point - democracy has failed many times after it is changed by corrupt people using corrupt (fiat) money. Is the problem the democracy or the control of the printing press for money?
Anyone put in the current system we call democracy today will be corrupted - however so slightly. Those not corrupted leave the system eventually knowing they can’t change it. Ron Paul may be the oldest in this camp.
He started a school, but any private enterprise competing with Government education has to fight unlimited money printing. If people understood who the real bad guys were they would push back.
The latter - how do they get the money and develop the systems to do this? Politicians have power because we provide them money to control us. That can be taken away - the good guys have always eventually won!
What makes u think that will change?
What if politicians in the near future (less than a generation) can’t print their own wealth anymore?
That’s one of our favs too - we grill it all, use a steak seasoning on the Salmon and no lemon, we even slice the potatoes like that and put on grill - great spin!. Many ways to love this dinner!
Small #Bitcoin holders are small for a reason, they have not read many books or done much research - or they would not be small!
This is ALWAYS how it works. Bitcoin is a new monetary system that is impossible to understand without a LOT of reading/learning/research.
The best thing you can do for someone is NOT get them to buy Bitcoin but to read a book on Bitcoin. If they go down the rabbit hole they will never unsee it again. That's REAL orange pilling!
And helping people learn to read again is the most important part!
Any thoughts on #Bitcoin just trading like any other tech stock? This is the opinion of Alasdair Macleod - he's a Gold bug forever. My personal view is he's missing about 90% of the advantages of Bitcoin over Gold, but always worth a little discussion. The Chart below is from his site (link below to the article).

On a serious note - you can make $100-$300/weekend night at a nice restaurant serving right now - it's insane. So you need NO SKILLS and if you are really nice to people can make $50K/year working 3-4/days a week.
I REQUIRED all 5 of our kids to work in a restaurant. It's tough. But it helps build the character (no one wants to do it) that you need to move on. And you get instant feedback if you are a nice person - people tip if you are overly nice (but not fake).
Take the money and buy #Bitcoin and you can retire on just that effort!
Read the book, "Hidden Repression" by Alex Gladstein. This is going to happen everywhere. The US$ will be the last to fall.
Why will it happen? Because history shows with 100% accuracy that all fiat eventually fails. Humans always go back to the hardest money - and that is now #Bitcoin.
