Only needed for push notifications, but definitely not required. I use it on GrapheneOS myself, did you see an error?
Not exactly sure how the environment configuration works on Start9, probably they would need to allow you to change it in the Start9 configuration UI.
We currently don't have plans to allow configuration in the UI (we don't yet support connecting to multiple relays, so that would render all existing connections unusable, etc).
Okay, got it. You can configure Alby Hub to use any relay you like:
https://github.com/getAlby/hub?tab=readme-ov-file#optional-configuration-parameters
Linking your Alby account (which gives you an LN address & other features) is also completely optional.
I don't think we'll ship a relay as part of Alby Hub any time soon though.
While you host it on your personal computer at home?
We've seen quite some frustration from users with similar processes (static IP or dynamic DNS configuration, open ports in firewall, router configuration, etc).
Why would you want to host the relay locally?

No plans for that, how would this relay be reachable to the outside world though?
Alby Hub doesn't support Core Lightning yet:

About LND + BOLT12:
I guess I will just deal with getting booted out randomly once in a while until Alby gets better lol
The only reason that comes to mind is that the node (or the service) has been restarted and you need to re-enter your unlock password.
That being said, we now also integrated an option to auto-unlock your node. Upgrade to the latest version and go to settings -> auto-unlock.
We built a Coinflip PoC using multiparty contracts on Ark!
Bonus points: it uses Nostr on the backend.
Ark's client-server architecture, built around presigned transactions, provides an interesting framework for coordinating complex multi-party interactions.
A key insight from our Coinflip implementation: Ark operators validate spending conditions off-chain, such that in the optimistic case, complex validation logic doesn't hit the blockchain at all.
Once the game concludes, players settle their balance without intermediary trust.
It's available here: Coinflip is available here: http://coinflip.casino
Check it out! πΎ
Awesome! Why is there a minimum amount of 333 sats though?
Interested to learn more: What made you move?
The main problem I see is that these sub-accounts don't have access to manage these connections in any way. I think to get started and make your first steps this is a great way, but if you really need separate apps & budgets, manage permissions, etc you should consider running a Hub yourself.
Awesome revamp! π₯
I'd be super interested to learn more about which DVMs are being paid for and how the paid DVM landscape evolves over time (total / average sats being spent overall, per kind, etc). Any plans to add such stats as well?

Alby Go works just fine for sub accounts, you just need to keep the wallet connection string handy somewhere safe so you can add it again when needed. Alby Hub won't show the connection string for the sub account after you set it up.
Speaking of which... nostr:nprofile1qyt8wumn8ghj7etyv4hzumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgtcppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qyw8wumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytf39ehxymewv9hxwctwdyhxxme0qy08wumn8ghj7mn0wd68yttsw43zuam9d3kx7unyv4ezumn9wshszymhwden5te0wp6hyurvv4cxzeewv4ej7qg4waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxgctdw4eju6t09uq3wamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwdehhxarj9e3xzmny9uq3wamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwwpexjmtpdshxuet59uq3jamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwwdhx7un59eek7cmfv9kz7qpqgetal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqygds4v this would be one of the biggest things on my wishlist for Alby Hub. Instead of having one wallet connection string for Friends & Family sub accounts/hosted wallets, it would be really nice to be able to generate separate connection strings for each service you want to connect to for a particular Friends & Family wallet.
For instance, when my daughter wants to connect her wallet that I am hosting to her Amethyst app, there should be a way to set up a new connection string for that wallet specific to Amethyst, so she can have a separate budget just for Amethyst.
Now watch Alby tell me this is already possible and I just completely missed how to do it somewhere.
Not possible and also not planned, sorry. If you need connections for sub-accounts maybe consider running a separate hub.
I wanted to check some metrics.
I can't remember exactly what you had on there, but I would be super interested to see the number of paid DVM requests over time (potentially by DVM type) to get a rough idea of which DVM types are being paid for.

That would be better than the random nsec you generate when installing the extension.
I don't think there is a way to pass a param to the webstore that is then passed on to the extension during the first run.
One workaround I've seen other extensions do is to set a cookie, then do a request to a server from the extension. I don't think that's a good solution for this use case as it requires a webserver and hardcoded URL in the extension.
Would it be feasible to offer a NIP-07 way to add a key to extension signers? We have some similar method available to add lightning credentials: (e.g. `nostr.addSecretKey`)
https://guides.getalby.com/developer-guide/alby-browser-extension-apis/window.alby/adding-accounts
Okay, then it's an issue on our side. Thanks for testing & reporting. Working on a fix!
