I just learn about it, one starting in eluc is easy, took me 1min in the browser app but I don't want to change my npub now.
It's fake the glas of wine is deformed at its based.
And it's not chocolate from Migros.
I can't imagine daily driving any other OS.
#QubesOS is God tier. It's that good.
Maybe that will change if Johanna develops something cooler, but it's going to be hard to one-up herself after creating QubesOS.

The learning curve for it is quite steep, I'm still not comfortable to use it daily but I understand why it's much better for privacy and security.
Same for me, I love the comfort of desktop for typing and searching content but I didn't found any decent web or desktop client to feel the same nostr experience I love on mobile.
On one side it looks super creepy how it move and all, on the other side I'm almost like: no way it's not a guy in costume.
Even if we most Bitcoiners won't like it, myself included, I would still prefer that people use good custodial service than not using Bitcoin at all. Most of Bitcoiner didn't jump to non-custodial wallet and running a node in the first year if not several years of using/experimenting with Bitcoin.
Most user need to easily buy some sats from their Revolut, trading app or whatever, see the price moving up and down, get used to the terms and how to send and receive, buy some stuff, then maybe they will buy more, start to thing about security, independance, ... and will decide for a better solution, test it, get confortable, move a bit of sats, then more, evetually almost all beside daily spending sats stack.
I think it's fine and even if some will always stick with custodial, as long as we all have the possibilty to do self-custodial without any restriction, interact with any custodial service without whitlisting address and shit, I'm fine with it.
I agree, we should allow to do thing with as few information as strictly needed. Download content? Just pay the invoice, get the link. Physical item, just give the delivery address or pickup locker location.
You are talking exclusively about online shops right?
I use the "order as guest" option whenever there is one, except for a few shops that I regularly order from and want to have order history for warranty and so on, accessible on an account.
But yes most occasional or digital only purchase require nothing more than a Lightning invoice to pay.
Amazing how far we have been so far, Bitcoin is in the top 10 valuable assets in the world and it's judt the beggining.
When Bitcoin pass 100k it will be top 5.
Wheb Bitcoin pass 200k it will be 2 with just gold to best.
Tick tock gold, Bitcoin is coming to make you obsolete.

I took your advice and built a gif nostr companion app:
You can download the PWA to your home screen, search for your gif, copy the address and paste it into your client
On the back end, for every gif that gets copied/clicked, an API request is made to upload to nostr:npub1nxy4qpqnld6kmpphjykvx2lqwvxmuxluddwjamm4nc29ds3elyzsm5avr7 by nostr:npub137c5pd8gmhhe0njtsgwjgunc5xjr2vmzvglkgqs5sjeh972gqqxqjak37w
From there a nip94 request is done so that the content can be accessed by any client in the future
Now, anyone who searches for gifs using this tool is also helping to build the gif repository for nip94 and adding fallback urls to nostr.build
And all they did was click to copy #gifs

Nice code

Nobody: Keep thinking "should I switch to iPhone"
Once you enjoyed the freedom of GrapheneOS or other free Android rom, there is no turning back.
This is probably the most important and I would add:
fast finality. You must be sure within a few seconds (30s max) that the payment is either confirm or cancelled.
It happened to me twice that my boltcard didn't confirm the payment on the PoS until the 60s time out (way too long), then a new invoice was generated and paid with another waller (Phoenix, Breez, WoS...) then 10min later the inital invoice was paid.
This should never happen or at least there should be automatic refund.
I'm only one third into it, I'm a slow ready with fee free time, but it's excellent so far, I find myself re-reading some paragraph to be sure I understand everything properly, so it's really bringing me a lot.
Thanks for writting it.
Security Alert: Keylogging Plugin Discovered in #Pidgin Messaging App ⚠️

Surprised that this app still exist.
Nostr needs more #miniscript discussions.
Have you tried Liana?
==> https://wizardsardine.com/liana
If you did but you still don't use it: why not?
I tried it on testnet, love the concept but I'm not using it because of the risk that I will be forced to do a costly on-chain transaction during a period of high fee and I would like miniscript to allow longer than ~1 year period.
The nostr:npub1y2qcaseaspuwvjtyk4suswdhgselydc42ttlt0t2kzhnykne7s5swvaffq - for kids who Stack Sats! #Bitcoin #Lightning #LNBits

Amazing idea. As understand it displays a wallet from LNbits and can generate invoice on request.
Would be awesome to have another version that act as an ATM, kids put dirty fiat coins and it add the sats on their account. Parents can empty them to buy back the sats.
Running your second Lightning node is more like this: try to understand how everything how it works, checking all dev signature, backuing and restoring your wallet 5 times, inspecting every parameter, fine tuning every option, hiding your IP, open a github issue to ask for a change, waiting for the new REST to be implemented by your apps, and after 6 months you still didn't sent any sats on it to open a channel.

So if you have 100'000$ of bitcoin one year, next year it worth 200'000$ you must pay 25'000$?! If you don't have cash to pay you sre forced to sell these 25k but then you pay 44% on your gain, so you need to sell 38k worth of bitcoin to get 25k to pay your taxes. Next year it retract by 60%, your 162k worth 65k, do you get something back for the unrealized loss? i guess not.
Then another year it's worth 165k, you pay 25k again, so you must sell 38k to pay, ending with 127k instead of 200k if you had not sold anything?
Am I understanding it right? In my country, Switzerland, there is no capital gain tax and my bones are chilling just to think about it. We have a wealth tax however, that start around 100k of fortune with 0.1% then can rise to 1-2% for some millions. You pay on the total of all assets, including unrealized value, real eastate, gold, valuable art piece, cars, boat... Not great but much more fair in my opinion.
Income tax are also much lower than all Europe and many other countries. But it's always too high.
