welcome to nostr.
I talking to anybody who has been lead to believe that robust, long term health can be achieved by simply taking a pill or injecting the right elixir.
Such thinking ignores the giant elephant in the room, which is the extent to which the bodies have been poisoned and thrown out of balance.
When the body is nourished deeply, and the tissue mineral levels are in balance, most disease processes are kept in check without the need of any remedies, be they herbal, allopathic, or otherwise.
If these simple facts were widely known, and tended to, the market place for remedies and potions would evaporate, almost overnight. Along with most symptoms & side-effects.
These facts were well understood amongst the medical community, circa 1970. An excellent representation of the thinking at the time can be found in the text-book: 'The Clinical Significance of the Essential Biological Metals'.
Sadly, this work was shelved by the mainstream, largely in favour of the much more lucrative approach, of producing drugs to treat the symptoms of a population who remain, for the most part, perpetually ill.
I haven't tried out all the available apps, but so far Primal has been my best Nostr experience. Some of us like to run older hardware, and so a universal web based experience that doesn't insist on the latest mobile OS is essential to fully support the eco system.
If they've managed to make it work, well and good.
Lightning was just one example of a limitation pruned nodes may face. Another would be trying to build something like a block explorer.. or any other application that relies on querying transaction history.
In most cases I understand that the primary bottleneck to bootstrapping a node is the TX verification.
IBD would happen much quicker if validation could be skipped, in favour of instantiating a specified UTXO set.
If we skip downloading the blockchain data altogether, we would only be able to operate as a pruned node. Pruned nodes lack a lot of functionality, like the ability to robustly support a Lightning node, running on top.
If assumeUTXO lets you get a functional node up and running, while the IBD takes place in the background, that's a good step in the right direction.
If the provision of a UTXO set could in some way negate the necessity for validation, as part of the IBD, that would be even better....
Will AssumeUTXO allow a user to bootstrap a full archival node?
ie the node will still download all of the blockchain data, but skip the validation, in favour of accepting a specified UTXO set?
All we are saying is that Bitcoin very definitely embodies a strict subset of values. (e.g. property rights).
These values are not held universally by everybody.
If they were, we wouldn't need Bitcoin....
Have a good day.
Many socialist types value the ability to take from one subset of the population, forcefully, and give to another subset.
Bitcoin's fundamental raison d'etre is to strictly prohibit the possibility of such behaviour.
It is the digital manifestation of property rights.
Property rights are not held as a universal value. There are plenty of individuals & groups who would see an end to them by tomorrow. Think 'own nothing & be happy' ...
I have never felt the claim that 'Bitcoin is not political' to be appropriate.
Bitcoin is fiercely political. At the most fundamental level.
Any suggestions for a portable NVME hard drive?
Looking at Crucial X8/X9 currently..
Is the hardware level disk encryption trustworthy?
How about lifespan and device reliability, in general?

It's common to experience flu like symptoms when you first start drinking raw milk. The beneficial yeast and bacteria go to war with pathogenic microorganisms that are already inhabiting your gut. The key is to introduce it slowly to minimise symptoms.
If your raw milk is coming from a reputable source, and all of the other people who are drinking it aren't getting ill, i'd wager the milk is fine...
Have you been consuming it from the same source for some time? Is the source reputable ?
Which client would you suggest? We used nostr:npub1wnwwcv0a8wx0m9stck34ajlwhzuua68ts8mw3kjvspn42dcfyjxs4n95l8 since the beginning but unfortunately lately we started having problems mentioned above.
Using primal, here. No problems & excellent experience..
