Saw this post, checked the fiat price and it's another ATH. 🤣
On the flip side, if a move like that were to happen, it'd probably increase the decentralization of mining as mining efforts go underground.
Putting aside the fact the decision of whether that's a good idea or not for just a moment, and the issue of enforcement too, it seems like that'd be a really difficult thing to defend legally.
The argument in the 90s was that because the federal government had the authority to control the exportation of munitions, that they could restrict the export of PGP sorftware, in both source and binary form.
That was struck down under the 1st amendment. And because the bill of rights is defined as forbidding the federal government from violating rights such as free speech, that prohibition also applies to violating the free speech of non-citizens. Ergo, they shouldn't be aable to ban the import of books, even if those books had the source code to TikTok.
So it seems like you'd have to do some serious mental gymnastics to figure out some way to justify that they have the authority to ban an app or service. It's not even a philosophical difference, it's a matter of well established case law.
Also, it'd be unenforcable and unamerican to do so. So yeah, there's that too.
This video is for the people who already know how fucked humanity is in terms of climate change. Maybe you know the stats on methane, maybe you just know it's real bad.
This video talks about things that are happening to improve the situation TODAY, not promises "net zero by 2050". It is one of those glimmer of hope, that maybe incentives can be aligned where it makes more sense to completely burn methane instead of flaring it off, or worse, just allowing it to leak into the atmosphere without even partially burning it.

Share this with fellow activists who are willing to listen. It's reasonable to be skeptical of any good news related to the climate these days, so feel free to your own research and share that as well, whatever you find.
Biden is literally running part of his campaign on TikTok. He must mean he'd ban it AFTER he gets reelected.
If you want KYC free sats, there are people who live near you who would be willing to make a trade for some Benjamins. Just sayin'
That's a pretty good comparison. If I saw a sticker that said "vote green" I would have a pretty good idea of what it meant.
It's still the traditional kind of voting, not direct action, but I think the wording can work here.
If you want to learn about eCash (cashu, fedimint, and others) without having a reply-guy insult you for not already knowing about eCash, this is a good video.
Yes, I know, they're reply-people, but in practice it's pretty much all people who self-identify as men.
I like the colors and the easier to read font. I feel like it needs a "for", "with", "using" or something in there.
We don't need the extra word, but we are not the target audience.
I feel like the extra word hints that we're not suggesting that you vote for some politician who is going to fix the money, but rather something else. Hopefully it will evoke "What is this? Direct action? Maybe I should click the link and see what this is all about..."
Just my 2 sats. 🙃
The last couple days were stressful, but here's where I landed:
- New motherboard and case in place
- Qubes 4.2 installed
- Data restored with minimal data loss
- Still having that same issue with hidraw devices!
Next steps:
1. Backup (properly this time!)
- fresh backup (in progress)
- verify integrity of backup
- copy backup to another physical drive
- verify integrity of the copy
- Repeat as needed until I am convinced I have two good copies of all my data
2. Boot Tails and verify this problem exists there too
3. Make a Qubes 4.1 installer
4. Install Qubes 4.1 and restore data
5. Re-test for hidraw filtering
...and after trying another make and model of motherboard with Qubes 4.2, I still am having problems with hidraw devices (in my case, #Signet).
So next I'll try tails and see how that goes. If it goes like last time, it'll fail in exactly the same way as in Qubes.
At that point, I plan on doing another pair of backups, verifying them, and then reinstall with Qubes 4.1, which worked with my original motherboard.
The road is long, and costly.
Yes, a screen that goes black and never comes back is just what I needed today. I'm signing off for the night. I don't want to keep bringing this level of negativity to #nostr.
GN all
I had a conversation with since company (I forget which one) go something like this:
Agent: We're going to add you to our system so it can recognize your voice next time you call in, ok?
Me: No thanks.
A: You don't want that?
Me: No..
A: Okay, I'll just put down here that you're opting out.
Me: Thank you.
Do you already have videos about such systems? I know about first flush systems, and they are super clever, but I'm keen to know more about filtering out things from the roof itself.
And as I was attempting to restore from backups, I found the backup drive has read errors which causes restoration to fail.
I was in a rush again, and this is the price I pay, again.
I just feel like I am so slow at things already that I can't afford to back my data up in duplicate or triplicate. Or to do a fake restore to verify the integrety of backups each time.
Apparently, I should just go slower, because now I am spending a bunch of time restoring things one VM at a time and keeping notes on which ones already failed, which ones build upon those ones that can't be restored and so forth.
I am just so exhaused by these setbacks all the time...
500 gallons of emergency water. This tank was set up for a client to capture roof water and have a passive water tap by running a PEX line and hose bib into the basement.

Metal roof?
It's been several hours, but I have a new case (and a now-caseless older computer) and I was able to boot into the Qubes installer.
I have no fucking idea why Qubes on a M.2 drive can't be just plopped into a new computer and be seen as a bootabke device. It works fine with Qubes on a USB device...
Backing up and restoring is very easy with Qubes, so as long as you back up before migrating, it's not that big of a deal, but I'm still annoyed. Given how my day has been going so far, it doesn't take much.
Today is #Signet Saturday and it's not off to a good start. 🫤
My new motherboard arrived and after moving the CPU, RAM and storage over, I found out that my case is too small. It can't fit both the motherboad and the power supply into it at the same time.
The board is just too tall. So now I'm trying to figure out if I have a case that is big enough and not in use (or can be taken out of use).
If I'm lucky, I'll find something, get to swap even more things around, and have a working desktop by the end of the day.
I am going to be SO GLAD when this is done. I'm still recovering from a motherboard failure from about two months ago, and I'm fed up!

We'll have to wait for the true leaves to form to find out.
