Linux is the only way to have any control or security on a PC (Macs included) then and now
I have a window$ gaming PC, it has no personal information on it and hasn't for a long time. M$ aren't a software company any more, they are data sellers flogging the same flawed software with a dumpster fire security system as they have for years.
back in the 1990s, they had a buffer overflow in the TCP/IP stack where you could ping any windows box anywhere with too much data in a single ping and blue screen it. later, after a long time, they offered a fix but only to corporate clients who paid. true story.

I have my own website for these reasons (OP) in part. if you set the robots.txt file up correctly then the aibots will not scrape you. most of what I see in logs is fake bots or people trying to brute force, I report every one. there are plugins to help protect graphics and text. it's doable with know how and a little help.
ultimately I want to create quality art and I want quality readers. I'm not looking to please a massive number of people. quality, yes! quantity as a measure, no!
imo, massive sites like meta makes funnel art and writing into generic please the masses genres, dilute art and are just sales driven.
