Woke or woke adjacent. I can't have that entering my brain for personal reasons.

Good night ✌️🧑

Start with the most offensive ones to get them off your chest.

Too much thinking for me today. Good night ✌️🧑

No thinking tomorrow!

I'm a Bitcoin-only people. So there's at least one.

ODELL having beef with Swan and Saylor. Has got me thinking a lot.

Bitcoin-only fighting another Bitcoin-only.

Waste of time? I think so. It's friendly fire.

Can a Bitcoin-only be a danger to Bitcoin?

I keep flip flopping on the subject of Swan honestly. I don't use their service anymore nor am I on Twitter to listen to their daily show. So I really have no grounds to have beef with them.

They're a Bitcoin only company supporting Bitcoin only creators, and I think that should be enough. They get embroiled in a lot of drama on purpose because that's how Cory runs his ship. People see the drama and get a negative vibe about Swan, but that's like believing Bitcoin FUD. The fundamentals don't change.

Bitcoin-only is the signal. Plus Guy has the best ad reads for them in the whole space.

I once worked with gas turbines that needed to run at half power at night to remain profitable, but doing so raised their emissions beyond what was allowable.

I casually thought back then that I wouldn't even have to be there tuning this emission problem if they just ran Bitcoin miners at night and kept the turbines at 100%.

If they're looking for irreparable brain damage, they're looking for the BSV/BCH communities.

A counterpoint to my earlier point is that Swan and Saylor are playing a game that doesn't benefit from involving existing bitcoiners, so it isn't vital to their strategy to spend any energy maintaining a presence here.

Swan's goal is to onboard new bitcoiners. New bitcoiners are arguably not on Nostr, so why put in the effort?

Saylor's goal is to accumulate as much Bitcoin as possible and store in a way that persists for thousands of years. Once again, that doesn't have much to do with hanging out with plebs on Nostr.

Even though they'll probably come here eventually, expecting them now is high time preference behavior.

Yes, I think so. You produce a good that is valuable to others, and you wield your Bitcoin node to project power on your clients, saying, "I will send you this valuable good if you send me Bitcoin that my node recognizes as valid.

By doing that, you incentivize your clients to use nodes that agree on the same rules as your node. You're projecting power over the version of Bitcoin OTHER nodes in the system are running. Your power over consensus does in fact increase as your clientele increases, because you influence more nodes in the network to be in consensus with yours.

There are three components to Bitcoin: the developers, the nodes, and the miners. All of them play a part in maintaining the security and decentralization properties that make Bitcoin valuable.

Developers are a source of change. In Bitcoin, you can only add features, and therefore make the system more complex. So changes must be hyper-conservative or else they can destroy the system.

Nodes are a source of sustainance. They enforce the current rules of the system against each block of transactions that is mined. And they are slow to upgrade if changes are made to the code.

Miners are a source of creation. They choose transactions and spend physical watts to produce a record of transactions that every node can agree on. Physical power is necessary to make the record of transactions trustless.

I highly recommend reading The Blocksize War to understand the power dynamic among these three participants. It is the key to understanding what consensus means in Bitcoin and how power can be projected within it.
