Plus, what are the chances they’ll keep the promise of tax free gains? Or that they’ll let you access the money at the same age? The federal govt is going to get extremely desperate for tax revenue in the coming years to pay off all this debt
Thanks public school system…
I pull my hair out every day wondering if I’m in a bubble with some the crazy shit going on. So, at least we’re not alone 😅
What do you think of his recent pivot to Bitcoin? I wonder if he’s woken up to this strategy
Ya absolutely. A good framing I heard on this recently - tool tech vs drool tech. Drool tech just tries to get you hooked and not thinking, where tools make our lives better. I refuse to contribute to drool tech in any way now.
It’s very likely that they set Trump up to be the fall man, especially if they know they can’t win. It’s like leaving a bomb on his desk.
Ohhh very interesting 🤔 I definitely think you could argue it’s a symbiotic relationship at this point. Whether or not that’s a good thing is another question 😅
I really don’t think it’ll be another life form, as Rogan constantly touts. It’s definitely evolving in a decentralized way, but I don’t think it’s inevitable that we’ll build something more intelligent. We can’t even come to an agreement on what we believe intelligence or consciousness is, so the idea that we’ll accidentally stumble on it is silly to me. Maybe I’m wrong, but I just don’t see it.
This was an insanely fascinating read. Really opened my eyes to how much sci-fi has influenced culture and just how easily we can fool ourselves into believing something is inevitable.

This is exactly why I believe it’s a huge positive that Trump is suddenly “pro Bitcoin”. It doesn’t so much matter if he actually delivers, but it’s proof of the game theory of Bitcoin. It’s now important enough in an election that politicians feel it’s beneficial to take a position on it.
Bitcoin has only been around for 4 elections now! Imagine what might happen over the next 4 (assuming we have them 😅)

Yes! The days I feel the worst are the days I did the least
I think people who want to use AI or robots to automate away every “undesirable” task to focus on “what truly matters” are a bit delusional. Work and responsibility are fundamental parts of life and existence. We can be upset about that, resent it, push back against it, but reality doesn’t care. If you automate away everything, you might suddenly find your life means nothing.
Of course, this doesn’t mean a robot that can do laundry or dishes would be bad, but where is the final line? When do we hit the threshold of the machines are doing too much?
I’d argue that part of why modern life is so lacking purpose is because of how much we’ve used tech to replace “undesirable” things. Sometimes, the most mundane things provide the most benefit.
Pretty arrogant thing to say…. 🤭
I agree with this completely. I’ll be a Luddite. Most of the “productivity enhancements” I see being touted are to save time on activities that shouldn’t be done anyway. Why the fuck would I want a summary to an email I wasn’t going to read anyway?
And then add in the insane privacy risks 😭
We only have 3 years left until AI destroys or severely harms humanity, according to a former OpenAI employee. https://futurism.com/the-byte/openai-insider-70-percent-doom
This is marketing for OpenAI. It sets the frame that their AI is powerful enough to do this in the first place, when the reality is, it’s not even close. But if you buy this theory, you subconsciously admit that what they’re building is more than just advanced auto complete.
I read an article on this earlier that makes a really good case that tech companies have run out of ways to generate hyper growth, so they’re grasping at straws and hyping this up beyond belief to try to get it again - https://www.wheresyoured.at/rotcombubble/?ref=ed-zitrons-wheres-your-ed-at-newsletter
I went to a sushi restaurant recently that has a similar gimmick. The experience was absolutely awful, I hated it.
"Another way to think about this: when you ask GPT a question, the answer is effectively what you’d get if you asked every person on the internet that question, and then averaged out their answers."
Good read on the limits of AI.

I read this one today and it completely blew my mind. Big tech companies are running out of levers to pull to generate hyper growth, so they have to resort to massively over exaggerating its capabilities.

Really good. I think with the house, you also can’t discount where your house is and what neighborhood. That can make a massive difference in quality of life. Big house in a shit neighborhood is a no go.
I’ve been really digging Tucker’s podcast lately. So good.
