Has anyone tried the bitcion company prepaid visa card?
I have bought one and it appears to have no cvv number.
I'm not sure where I can use it without that?
good question.
If no-one ever believed in it, then it could never take off.
If everyone in the world believed in it without even understanding it, then it would take off.
Understanding is better than believing though.
Can you think of someone that talks a lot about Bitcion, but doesn't really believe in it?

If posted the source code of my web site as a nostr event, then a desktop installed client that recognised that event could show the website when a user types in my npub.
Over time, that desktop client could replace a web browser and we would have an whole new internet that is uncensorable.
GM Nostr.
Notes and zaps will happen today!
The Ordinals have left the room.
Bitcoin base layer transaction fees seem to be even cheaper than lightning for anything under $1000 (approximately).
this is why they like the world to use insecure payment systems. It gives them an excuse to surveil people.
The credit card number with the expiry date and 3 digit code is a private key.
People put it in websites all the time.
They could have moved to public/ private key encryption years ago, but then there would be not need to monitor and id everyone.
Financial catastrophe will feed into bitcoin adoption, just as censoring media platforms is promoting a platformless media protocol
Three lessons on how homicides relate to Bitcoin adoption:
1️⃣ Countries need to be at breaking point for Bitcoin to be considered as legal tender. Going off USD and pissing off the North American giant was only an option when things couldn't have got worse for El Salvador.
2️⃣ Venezuela and Colombia have been at a similar breaking point, and even though their governments aren't embracing Bitcoin as fully, there has been growing adoption at a grassroots level to counter the instability.
3️⃣ Although things are getting worse in western nations, most are a long way away from this level of breakdown in society.

This is true, catastrophe will feed into bitcoin adoption, just as censoring media platforms is promoting platformless media protocol
Lol, wealthy men don't have to buy the hard money, they can just offer to put it into storage. In the case of gold, they do that for people that don't have a safe to put it in.
In the case of bitcoin, they offer to store it for people that don't do the work and figure out how to store it for themselves.
Once they have it in their custody, they do issue receipts for it and those receipts are treated as real money by those that don't understand.
Bitcoin is a step in the right direction, because people don't need to own a safe anymore, they just need to use free resources on the internet to learn how to self custody.
Lightning is a step in the right direction, because it is programatically secured against real bitcoin on the base layer on a one for one basis.
Some people will still use custodial lightning, but now that the ordinals have died, fees are low again and phoenix is less expensive.
Great article.
Sovereignty is what bitcoin is really all about.
If you don't hold your keys, then it is not your bitcoin!
You have given it to whomever you have entrusted it to.
They might give it back, or they might not!
As long as people are willing to accept custodial currency that is unverified, we we are going to have the problem of power being vested in the custodians.
The real key is understand. At the moment, even most people don't understand that the real value of Bitcoin is in the fact that you are able to securely self custody.
We have a long way to go.
A key part on the journey is to create tools that make decentralised solutions easy for everyone to use.
This is where woke came from.
They have been infiltrating the universities for years.
Now that destructive ideology has permeated western society.
Graduates took all the top jobs in the police, the judiciary, government, the civil service and corporate HR departments

I kind of agree with this
Weak men create fiat money
Fiat money creates bad times
Bad times create strong men
Strong men create hard money
Hard money creates good times
Hard money lasts forever
Enlightenment is realising that the only thing you really own is your self custody bitcion

Trying to do a hard fork of Bitcoin is conceptually like copying all the data from Wikipedia (it's not that much) and hosting it on your own website, but then getting very little web traffic because you don't have the millions of backlinks that point to the real Wikipedia or the volunteer army of people that a constantly update the real Wikipedia. Your split version of Wikipedia would be inherently worse than the real one from the moment you copy it.

It's a beautiful day to be on Nostr!
good point, thanks.
The first thing it asks me to do is to create an account!
GM. The greatest strength in Bitcoin is community of people that understand it as currency and use it as a currency.
BOUNTY of 2,500,000 sats + tips available for Nostr DEV
I want to build an open source LLM (Large Language Model) service on Nostr. Questions can be answered on a lightning gated pay-as-you-go basis. I need a developer to help me.
As simple way to get something up and running, the objective is to have a nostr account that anyone can send DMs to as an LLM query and receive back an answer from the LLM once they have zapped the required amount of sats.
I have installed llama on a VPS and got it working. The next stage is to write something that will pipe DMs from a nostr account into the LLM and pipe the response back out the same person.
Once that is up and running, the objective is to have the Nostr account request a zap of a specified amount before the LLM automatically processes and delivers the answer.
The Nostr integration is beyond my technical abilities, so I am willing to pay a Nostr enthusiast with the right skills 2,500,000 sats to help me build this.
The motivation for the project is create an LLM service that is undoxed and unbiased as an alternative to the big subscription based services. They are proven to have political agendas built into their filters and we never know if they are spying on us and storing all of our questions. Even though they charge a subscription fee, it is still possible that they are marketing our data to advertising agencies that are using it to manipulate us. Worse still, they may be directly uploading everything to a government server.
Currently the only way to get usefulness of an LLM without submitting to the surveillance/control system, is to install an open source LLM yourself. I am currently paying 65 euros a month in bitcoin for the anonymous VPS service that has enough enough disk space an CPU power. This level of cost is prohibitive for most people who might only use the service a few times a month.
The plan is to charge 1500 sats per question, which amount so about 10 cents at current prices. The project should be able to break even on a margin basis if we can get 650 or more enquires a month.
Please feel free to zap the hell out of this note as any donations will be added to the bounty paid for this development.
Also, please repost in order that we have the best chance of getting this service built.
Ah yes I watched that last night. I thought that there might be a podcast also.
If they shut down the entire web, then we would have much bigger problems than there being no Nostr!
GM layer 3!
