There are many investors in the space that understand the complexity & cost of protocol development and believe in the multiplicative effect it can cause. There are investors that are also excited about the technology, the vision, the solution and they like to help good cause. They need to see some hint of path to success, but especially in the early rounds all investors understand that they most likely won't see their money back. Investors can then provide their network of people, help with hiring, help with resources, exposure and marketing, etc. (i.e. provide not just money, but other values too)

Now, you keep putting all these investors into a single bucket of evil people and attack their integrity with posts like this and that's something that investors are sensitive to. Many investors don't share publicly that they are investors and so you may see people in your comments that seem hurt & attacked without any obvious reason. This could explain some of it.

On the specifics - detailed search functionality with complete DSL is imo overrated. The world is shifting to just text and multi modal search anyway. Even if Primal can do better experience because they don't design a protocol solution, it doesn't matter much. If Damus (and nostr) gets basic search, people will be happy enough.

Further, there are examples where one app pioneers a great experience that users enjoy that is then later codified into a protocol. Sometimes the usecases and user needs need to be more fleshed out before we freeze those into a protocol.

I'm not aware of any automatic solution like zapadd.

In clients like Primal / Amethyst you can set up default Zap value and make it zap with just a single tap, then you can connect your wallet with NWC (with primal you don't have to, but you can).

You can then add a default message for the zap and then you just need to open a bunch of profiles and then tap once on each of them and they get your e.g. 1000 sats with the message.

Yeah, something like cashu could be considered, but it would be better if this is non-custodial solution. Other options are LNURL-Pay with some custodial service, or BOLT12 where it somehow gets the confirmation from my LSP (my phone doesn't need to be online). Not sure if BOLT12 allows that?

If not, one could imagine a scheme where

- I'd send some pre-signed "transactions" or "amounts" to my LSP (but don't share "secret")

- The LSP can't spend them unless it gets the secret.

- When I'm buying the item from the seller, I show the secret to the seller (e.g. they scan a QR on my phone, or NFC tap)

- Seller's phone/POC calls my LSP with the secret and pulls appropriate money.

A modification for plus points - I could also use another selfhosted server that does this revealing of secrets for me and then calls the LSP on my behalf.

Dash is one of the earlier altcoins that always made many bold claims over the years. In 2016 DASH was #4 coin. They had many zealots on twitter posting it everywhere trying to make it a thing, but as is a destiny for all altcoins, they end up irrelevant and buried under many layers of other garbage. DASH is now 204th altcoin based on market cap.

So all people that were influenced into buying it lost a lot of value. This was very predictable and hence this was a scam.

Bitcoin failure from today 😢

I stopped in Ojochal and it was cool to see that multiple spots accept bitcoin, but I couldn't pay, because there was no cell reception (not even on local Liberty simcard). These merchants/stores should really have some easy way to connect to their wifi next to the area where you pay - they could have the wifi QR code printed (see example below).

When both merchant and buyer have connection: all good.

When seller is offline: we can use their Static QR and it's ok.

Thanks to recent developments there are multiple options they can choose from:

- create shitcoins on top of the lnd Taproot assets.

- create cashu mints and rugpull people
