The river Sǒca today, they call it the “Emerald River”. We traveled from Prijon and ended at Boca where there is a stunning waterfall. The rapids today were immense fun and some were a bit tricky to negotiate but you commit, paddle hard and make every stroke count. There are several of us on the trip and today only one capsize and needed to do a rescue. Ivet was laughing, she enjoyed filling in the icy cold river.

That’s the thing - the temperature outside is 30+ degrees but the water is probably 8-10 degrees, so the risk of cold water shock is genuine. Hop in deliberately though it’s refreshing to say in the least. The bottom of the boat stays cold and kept my cockpit cool all the way.

We saw plenty of trout today and Slavonian Grebe, might have been black-necked Grebe? Not sure. There was a mother and her chicks. Very cute.

More Bovec! It’s very hot and looking forward to going back on the Sǒca tomorrow with the kayak and the rest of our club.

Bovec, Slovenia.

The river Sǒca in Slovenia. It’s stunning. I didn’t run any of it today in my kayak as we chose to go walking. Tomorrow we’ll go in!

German/Austrian borders near Salzburg on our way to Slovenia. Hoping to find some of the things I saw whilst driving to photograph them. Every turning is a stunning view. Especially the road across the Italian/Slovenian border, oh my word that’s incredible. Lots of gear changes!! Lots of sheer drops!!

Very!! Thankfully two of us are sharing

I’m going to save this for my journey from England to Slovenia tomorrow. Big road trip!

I’m familiar with the tech used here, though DJ Dave is on another level entirely. Check out Tidal Cycles, Supercollider and Sonic Pi - it’s incredible!!

Looks a like bit like the Nightjar, as we call them over here in the UK. Cool birds and tricky to spot - maybe not in Australia?

Vibe coding makes me chortle because this is pretty much what I did back in the 80s before entering my career in the 90s - nowadays it’s KPIs and sprints!

Every now and again I build something pointless. Should do that more often.

The study of walls

Is there a word for this? All three photos were taken of the walls at St James’s church in Bramley, Hampshire. I’ll write a full length post on the place because there is a lot to share, some very interesting history there.

Please check out my https://nick-lewis.npub.pro as I’ve recently updated it a little bit. I’m considering a custom domain for it.
