i have to say that this will definitely swell the userbase.
i'm not sure how much benefit that is really going to bring but ok, it does lead to more funding for development.
that's what it means to be charmed by a cult leader.
i know y'all apple followers are gonna call us out group but that just proves the point.
even the design of the UIs is made to increase friction for you to adopt other computer systems.
and seriously, the newest trend in crapple UIs with these two tone windows is the absolute worst for working in darkness, and in bright light both. a totally pure example of how apple deliberately makes their products odd so you find it hard to get used to other systems.
some of the things are more ergonomic. but very few. mouse scroll direction being one.

my milk breakfast has evolved a little further. already i was just using room temperature UHT whole pasture fed milk as the base, and adding sea salt and cacao powder, but this morning after reading about theobromine, i decided to switch it up, and i am absolutely loving it.
basically, just warming it up to about blood temperature, letting the cacao fully mix through it properly.
the logic is that theobromine, and many of the great things in cacao are oil soluble, and the milk has 3.6% fat, while the cacao about 10% (it would be nearly 60% if the fat hadn't been extracted using naptha or whatever they use to make chocolate).
the temperature hits a certain level, somewhere a little over blood temperature (also the best temperature for full autoclave cleaning prep, around 40-45'C) and then suddenly the cacao just melts into the milk and it turns into a beautiful brown soup, and with the salt added is absolutely perfect, truly theobroma... food of the Gods.
the thing about theobromine, it's actually one of the active metabolites of caffeine, that has the least addictive and most health beneficial effects.
it dilates/relaxes the entire vascular system, improving blood flow and increases the amount of pee you make:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caffeine#Pharmacokinetics
Caffeine is metabolized in the liver by the cytochrome P450 oxidase enzyme system, in particular, by the CYP1A2 isozyme, into three dimethylxanthines,[188] each of which has its own effects on the body:
Paraxanthine (84%): Increases lipolysis, leading to elevated glycerol and free fatty acid levels in blood plasma.
Theobromine (12%): Dilates blood vessels and increases urine volume. Theobromine is also the principal alkaloid in the cocoa bean (chocolate).
Theophylline (4%): Relaxes smooth muscles of the bronchi, and is used to treat asthma. The therapeutic dose of theophylline, however, is many times greater than the levels attained from caffeine metabolism.[46]
people get a buzz out of caffeine because of paraxanthine. it's basically a sugar rush. the increased amount of glycerol released will also lead to more diarrhea, though it doesn't mention this. here's that info about glycerol:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycerol#Medical,_pharmaceutical_and_personal_care_applications
Taken rectally, glycerol functions as a laxative by irritating the anal mucosa and inducing a hyperosmotic effect,[23] expanding the colon by drawing water into it to induce peristalsis resulting in evacuation.[24] It may be administered undiluted either as a suppository or as a small-volume (2–10 ml) enema. Alternatively, it may be administered in a dilute solution, such as 5%, as a high-volume enema.[25]
oh, sure, you aren't getting the extra glycerol in your lower intestine but, sorry, yes, if caffeine is increasing the amount of glycerol in your blood it's increasing the rate at which your intestines are eliminating and that is going to make your farts more dangerous, especially as you get older.
but back to more pleasant brown substances, sure, you aren't getting a buzz or any increased metabolism but making you pee more and relaxing your blood vessels is going to help you a lot if you are trying to detoxify.
the other thing is that the fats in the cacao, of which there would be far more in raw powdered roasted cacao nibs, are full of stearic acid, which is the wax-like fat also found in beef tallow/dripping. this stuff is amazing for your skin and nerves.
and also unlike coffee, the cacao powder is loaded with fibre, which will make your poops more solid and regular and help you digest your fats more slowly and thus avoid glycerol levels spiking and decreasing your up and down in your sugar levels.
put down the coffee, pick up the cacao, add it to milk and salt and bring it to blood temperature.
it's a health elixir and whole food that is one of the cheapest and best things you can feed yourself in the morning.
apple has always been like this, even when their logo was like this. steve jobs was a cult leader and his methods of indoctrination have been carried on in his absence.
it's irish gaelic.
funny saying because that's one of the reasons why there's such a mess of languages in former yugoslavia. in reality (imo) there is 4 languages, slovenian, serbian, albanian and bulgarian. but the serbs, croats and bosnians pretend they aren't merely dialects and the macedonians pretend their language is not a dialect of bulgarian.
come to that, the distance between russian, serbian and bulgarian isn't that great either, russian is like bulgarian with german grammar, and serbian is like baby russian.
he can GlobalID deez nuts
bitrefill and robosats both make nokyc pretty easy to live by, if you get paid in sats.
if you are a dev and you believe in bitcoin you can find work in bitcoin... availability of devs does tend to increase options for working in bitcoin, as we can be hard beasts to find.
for the rest of you fiat mining, just remember that most of the threats to chase after you for your unpaid taxes on bitcoin profits are just threats. they really don't have that much staff to back it up and if they spend more on it, they start to end up with less tax revenue anyway. the laffer curve and all.
my situation has got way better this evening with about 900k sats popped into my wallet. i calculate that if i can maintain my current rate of spend on my food costs i'll stretch that out to about 7 more weeks, including another month of vodafone mobile internet.
should be plenty of time to get something happening.
i've also got a possible job on the horizon, building a nostr based chat system, i really want to stay in the bitcoin realm because it's basically what i spent the majority of my last 7 years learning.
they want someone to work on back end, and think they want a rust programmer but, while i am not entirely green with rust, the system they want built already has a huge amount of code written already in Go and the use case, low latency, crypto-heavy distributed systems code, is best done in Go, both in terms of time to build and resistance to common bugs and security vulnerabilities.
and quite frankly, no other language has first class coroutines and channels and this is just the best paradigm for building distributed systems servers anyway.
kernel threads are heavy and slow to spin up and poor at scaling.
anyhow, of course, any donations to help me launch into some work building freedom tech will be most welcome and appreciated.
Pura Vida, relax and stack sats!
cointel egraph lived up to my reading of their name today.
methinks some people might have some lawsuits relating to shouting "fire" in a theatre perhaps. i mean, maybe someone's got enough to throw at such litigation.
and they'll rally behind the next hitler or stalin like good little drones, and do their part for the holodomor and holocaust as requested.
the agent training scene of the matrix is revelant now more than ever
random play on my collection of Black Lung tracks this afternoon gave me two bangers in a row:
https://ant-zen.bandcamp.com/track/rhic-edom
https://ant-zen.bandcamp.com/track/the-multiple-contest
David Thrussell's work generally i find either hilarious, cathartic or completely mindblowing, these two are super special and i have to go back over them and share them as a result.
not all of black lung tracks are as good as these ones, but man, these sounds... just wow.
cache CDN setting in user preferences maybe?
the reason is primarily that holding a phone horizontally is awkward and liable to result in a broken screen and to "help" you the screen flips to portrait display and cuts off the edges of the CCD input to further "help" you.
the CCDs are usually built 3:4 ratio and oriented in the same aspect as the device, so vertical with 9:16 is not chopping out so much of the available pixels.
some cameras have features that let you get all the pixels and just set a flag on the orientation, and then you have the problem that video players don't respect the rotation setting, and/or it doesn't support changing mid stream so if you start with vertical then turn horizontal the video is then sideways.
mobile cameras are the spawn of satan.
just like a car... all the stuff that makes the magic happen is boring, complicated and dirty - even the things just under the surface of the outer enamel paintwork.

wat means 'cmd' precious
the rest of the world uses the word 'control'.
ctrl-enter is for when you can't edit, and that lets you make extra lines.
for chats, the opposite, ctrl-enter to add empty lines.
why notifications on the right? main menu is on the left, we are not arabs.
one of the big lessons for me in recent times is the value of maintaining continuity.
in the face of chaos, it is always a temptation to vacillate between the many, often distant and disparate possibilities.
the correct response to this is to dig in deeper in whatever you are already in, because everyone is buffeted by the winds of chaos and refusing to move from these forces is something that makes other people more likely to stand with you against the wind.
stubbornness is a virtue. you notice that it's never listed in the 7 deadly sins. stay stubborn. it will serve you well in life.
i am in the midst of doom
i was blissfully struggling to achieve my mission of finding accommodation on this blessed isle for my former sponsor of my work on indra, and a week ago i learned there was not the one more month for my efforts coming in
my money and supply of food run out at the end of this week, i need to start begging for my supper at this point. i am squeezing a whole day of food costs out of about 6 euros at this point, but i'm gonna have to pay rent and utilities at some point... the rent can be dodged for maybe 2 months and then it must be dealt with thereafter.
i'm working on the cryptography/keychain part of a decentralised git project, and i have behind me a heap of work i did developing indra, a decentralised VPN/paywall protocol.
i am putting v1.1.0 for signr, the signature handling for the git project to bed today, but i just found out i need to also support ecdsa signing on PBSTs to anchor commits to the chain...
so, to keep the momentum going forward i need to come up with a way to present my part of the project with geyser - it's essentially a cryptographic wallet/authentication library and CLI for working with nostr and bitcoin signatures, and there will also be git integration to enable git signature verification of commits.
it's such a disparate set of things it's difficult for me to put it in one box, and i'm right at the edge of the project, i'm only communicating with the lead dev on it, and not anyone else in the rest of the team.
i'm not in a position to do very many other things than fighting for my life here working as a bitcoin/ln/nostr dev, the only other alternative is begging in a tourist district on an atlantic island on the edge of the EU...
the bitcoin conference featured the president of this territory talking about fostering the development of bitcoin tech here, and i've got all sorts of ideas gained from struggling with transport here, it's a total mess and i think nostr/bitcoin/lightning combined could form the base of a unified logistics system for transport here.
but that is another level even higher than begging via nostr and geyser and other crowdfunds to get enough for me to be able to keep working and not running around like a chicken with my head chopped off not being able to do any programming work at all, probably not even being online for this.
i dunno even how to start working out a solution at this point, it's such a giant mess and the doom suddenly went from a 6 weeks in the future to a week from now last week, and i lost my nana in the process, did an angry walk for a full 40km in one day on mostly steep slopes, and i'm still struggling to recover my feet to manage more than 12km in a day, and yet if i don't get more money coming in this week i'm gonna have to be able to walk that 20km and go sleep on park benches and beg and meditate because there's not gonna be any way for me to power my gear let alone maintain an internet connection after my current one expires in a bit over 2 weeks.
