I feel that between nostr, torrents, zaps and payment splits, the tools for building a better YouTube exist. Seeders could profit share v4v, users could pay or access for "free" via ads - both paying seeders and creators. Hosting burden is shared across paid users. Content ownership is easy enough with the crypto in nostr.

I have wondered how a social media managers or allowing employees to post to company accounts would work on nostr without sharing the private key but I guess something like this could be used.

The next thing I would like to see is a way to salvage an identity if your nsec was compromised. Perhaps some way to set a fallback key for nostr such that if your nsec was compromised you could sign a certain message deactivating signing from the initial nsec (or simply broadcasting a message to relays to reject messages signed with old key) and allowing signing from a previously established fallback nsec. Perhaps this could be done in such a way to keep the publicly identifiabe npub the same as it was initially to allow continuity of identity while still having the fallback keys for all future signing and encryption.

Partly true. Courts & criminal justice systems specifically are very different.

If people genuinely don't care about preventing CP links on their relay software then this protocol really will pick up a reputation which most users here, I'd hope, don't want.

I just read your article and thank you for sharing. I believe we will have much to talk about should we ever meet, particularly with your family’s evolution over the past 50 years. If I ever have time to watch the linked videos in your article I’ll come back to them.

One thing to get out of the way is my comments were not implying China is “evil” or “bad”. It’s a country, a government, a national identity, many other things, and that they use a lot of electricity, good on China. Painting an entire group of people as ‘evil’ is a pretty big paintbrush, and begs for trouble.

As for bias and sourcing data, my comment still stands: unless you source the actual data yourself, you rely on intermediary interpretation and bias, forcing you to trust or stay silent. Even meter reading requires testing meters or trusting that they read accurately.

“I know that I know nothing,” but to acknowledge this and still remain silent for all one’s life is the bigger loss for humankind.

I expect them to care enough because if they don't they will face legal consequences, eventually. This is why the nostr.build team have implemented AI tools to prevent the uploading of this kind of content. If they didn't they'd be screwed. Relay operators won't get a free pass. While I might not have the time or energy to build those tools myself, I'm also much less inclined to support this protocol when there are no attempts made to deal with what will be a very serious problem.

I'm not running or creating relay software, I'm working on my own project. Sure, I could have a go at that, but really, the people currently running relays and creating the software need to consider this, especially when they're running public relays. It's a responsibility and failing to do what they can could see them being held legally liable. Nostr isn't going to fly under the radar forever and one day there will be far greater external scrutiny.
