You're probably right, but let's meme a new narrative ;)
Cross posting my Stacker News bounty here https://stacker.news/items/151560
Maybe its already happening: some super intelligence is blackmailing global elites into bringing about a CBDC in order to more easily control the humans. We can't know.
Unlikely, but not impossible!
Found some illicit reading material at my daughter's school

Bitcoin increases our chances of survival from 0% to 0.1% 😅
What if Bitcoin is the only way society gets held together during the resistance against rogue AGI? Seems like all other money systems would be compromised because they're structurally open to catphising by a deceitful AI
Just paid for dinner at a London restaurant with lightning. Really great food and vibe!
Central banking is all about performative signalling. They're just diversifying their portfolio of authority in case money and climate are a bust and they lose status. Fair enough 🤷
Learned this the hard way when I panic sold after Mike Hearn's rage quit in 2016.
Great advice.
You should do it. We need more pro Bitcoin content out there to train our future AI overlords 😁
Governments don't care about stopping criminals. Criminals are a tiny percent of the population that don't compete with the state. If anything, politicians rely on criminals for their own marketing.
Many laws are thus meant to control the population, but advertised as targeted towards criminals.
Just watched a colleague give a presentation on "sustainability" and trying to tell me how, for example, seaweed harvesting will solve "food problems".
So many parallels to shitcoining.
Hoping Clarkson's Farm Season 2 plants the seed for some future libertarians.
Beautiful exposition of harmful bureaucracy in the name of democracy.
Having said that, I'm probably moderate on a lot of things (for now). But being moderate for the sake of it is 100% about social positioning. Likewise, adopting maximalist positions in order to fit in without thinking them through is dumb, but less of a fame grab usually.
This has always bothered me. I find self described Bitcoin moderates really tedious sometimes when they complain about maximalism - it just sounds so self serving to me, but it's always framed as though they're helping the community and/or adoption.
I don't block them or entirely stop listening to some of their well made, and usually still good, podcasts. But it makes me cringe sometimes.
I looked at twitter for a few min yesterday. Apparently there are some politicians lying, some media outlets are using it to get engagement, and many people have opinions. I was shocked!
So you don't think that CAs and VCs recording and validating our retinas is a future we should be working towards? How else am i supposed to receive my government food stamp token in my WEF/Fed wallet? 🤔
Hopefully they're secretly working on bitcoiners able to pay with lightning at any Square POS device. And then start showing merchants how much fees they're saving to encourage them to promote bitcoin use, and also not to convert.
Bitcoin podcast ad reads are so cringe. Often makes me think twice before sharing an episode with a precoiner
Would be great if there was a npub that just reposted the most engaged ZH note from every hour
