This is always the case, with all people in all places. Hamas is armed & funded by Israel. They don't even hide it. They openly talk about their strategy to use Hamas to oppress people in Gaza & justify their war.

The US did it to keep people in the region poor enough that they'd never consume all of their own oil & to keep oil exports trading exclusively for dollars. And Israel funds Hamas because they don't want peace, they want the land.
There are always violent thugs in every society, the US govt & Israel have actively armed & supported those thugs to keep the entire Mid East unstable. Prior to US intervention many of the places which are now bombed out hell holes were prosperous westernized cities.

I mean, the idea is that the pixel was that the hardware was the most open available. But the fact that one of the main devs got harassed & driven out for being too rude or something is the most concerning IMO. That seems like the sort of tactics that would likely be used to corrupt a project.
