I never saw flowers. I could've missed them, but I never saw any.
CREAMY ITALIAN RABBIT SOUP:
Serves: 6-8 Servings
INGREDIENTS:
• 4 Tablespoons Butter
• 2 Tbs apple cider vinegar
• 1 Rabbit parted
• Several Garlic Scapes (Original recipe called for1 Leek, Only White Portion, Sliced Thin)
• 1/2 cup sliced carrots (I used dried)
• 3-4 Garlic Cloves, Minced (I used 2 tsp minced)
• 1 Tablespoon Tomato Paste (I used a dried powdered tomato)
• 1/4 Cup White Wine (Dry Wine, i.e. Sauvignon Blanc)
• 4 Cups Chicken Chicken Broth
• 4 Teaspoon Italian Seasoning
• 1/2 Teaspoon Cayenne pepper powder
• 1 Teaspoon Onion Powder
• 4 Teaspoon smoked Salt (Maladon)
• 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper
• 1 Cup Heavy Cream
• 1/2 Cup Parmesan Cheese
• 1 cup green beans
• 1 cup frozen peas (& carrots)
• 1 can chicken broth
• fresh basil (optional)
• Beef gelatin powder (several scoops)
• Salt & Pepper, to taste
DIRECTIONS:
1.) Put rabbit & apple cider vinegar in crock pot and just cover rabbit with water. Cook over night.
2.) Remove rabbit from crockpot and separate meat from bone. Throw bone away. Shred the rabbit and return to crockpot.
3.) To start the base of the soup, add butter to a large dutch-oven or deep cast iron frying pan. Add leeks, garlic scapes (and/or leeks), & carrots to a pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir occasionally and season with salt and pepper.
4.) Add tomato paste, white wine, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, onion power, and crushed red pepper flakes to sautéed veggies. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent garlic from burning. Add rabbit and toss to coat meat with soup base.
5.) Add chicken broth, cook covered until boiling.
6.) Pour contents of skillet into crock pot, add gelatin powder, green beans, peas, and carrots and cook for 10-12 minutes, covered. Once everything is hot and tender add heavy cream, milk, fresh basil, and parmesan cheese to pot. Stir to combine and cook for 5 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
4.) Serve with extra parmesan, basil, and crushed red pepper flakes. Enjoy!
Our breeders have names. All rabbits meant for dinner are named Stuart. It doesn't matter if they are female or male. They are all named Stuart to remind us they are stew rabbits. We discuss what the "Stuart's" are doing. We only have one Stuart left and we are about to go out of town, so she will be butchered a bit old and probably only be good for the stew pot, but it is easy to "store" your meat live. No refrigeration, freezing, or processing required and your dinner makes great garden fertilizer.
I think the late snows this year killed my currant buds. I'm not getting any currants this year. The plants look great, but I never saw flowers and I don't see any fruit. :(
I made the mistake of getting Giant Chinchillas. They are super cute and super friendly which makes butchering time much more painful than with any other animal we have butchered. I should've gotten an albino New Zealand or Californian and it would be less hard to butcher. We've only butcher 2 so far.
In fact, we are having creamy italian rabbit stew for dinner tonight.
I miss my chickens. I used to have chickens for meat and for eggs (Buff Orphiingtons were the best and good in cold climates), but developed a lung sensitivity and had to chose between eggs and breathing. Good job on butchering the chickens! Butchering chickens is much easier than butchering cute bunnies like I'm having to do now for meat production.
How does the saying go?
"God help me to change the things I can change, to accept the things I can't change, and the wisdom to know the difference."
We need to not waste our time trying to change people who won't listen. There are much better uses of our time.
We had friends come from out of state and visit yesterday, so I was late going to bed. We then had the smoke detectors go off twice last nigh, once at 2:30am and then at 6:00am (when I decided to get up knowing I wouldn't be able to get to sleep before I needed to get up. ) I am dragging today and not being as productive as I would prefer to be, but I guess we all need a day of rest. I'm not good at taking my once a week day of rest. I really needed it today.
I've been using Proton Mail/Calendar/VPN for a couple of years now, and have been happy with it.
Try it out: https://pr.tn/ref/0FES9KF6HHD0
Me, too. I like it enough to get the paid version. I wanted to switch all of my email to my proton mail account, but I have so many things on my old account from the past 30 years that it is pretty much impossible. A lot of accounts I use for work are linked to my old account and won't let me change the email associated with them, so I'm stuck with 2 emails.
and I believe greater adoption will not only lead to higher value, but also lead to greater price stability (or price trend).
The chemicals absolutely interfere with health, especially male health.
I've commented that my eldest son, who is an intellectual, not an athlete, so does very limited exercise, is much stronger than me even though I exercise a lot daily. I've commented that I can't compete with youth and testosterone. When the males have reduced testosterone they are weaker physically, but also mentally. They seem to have less of the protective instinct. Those in power definitely like that trend.
God provides. Going through the loss was hard, but we got to rebuild and build our dream home, so the whole family agrees, if we could go back in time and prevent the fire, we wouldn't.
We had a string of things happen. Each one prepared us to thrive in the next hard time and we are better off mentally, spiritually, and physically than we would be had it not happened.
I tend to think the majority cause is kids who aren't successful at anything and/or aren't unconditionally loved by their families, doing what gets them attention and praise. I would also believe that chemicals could make a person more susceptible, though.
Same thing with books. Ebooks might be convenient, especially when traveling, but I want paper books that can't be deleted or changed. I could totally see an ebook on a Kindle or similar suddenly getting an "update" to keep it woke.
Will pray. We lost our home to a grass fire in 2015, so I feel for them.
That is especially true when the truth is uncomfortable and the lie is comfortable.
I haven't really used it yet, but this is a cool site for arguing a point using AI and science articles. You create a case you are trying to defend. You write a summary of your case. You attach articles (especially scientific articles). Then you can ask it questions and it will argue the point using only the attached articles (none of the normal preprogramming of the big name AIs). It seems like it could be useful, but I haven't had time to try it out yet.

Last night when my husband got home with groceries, he put a bag of groceries on top of one of my young rabbit's cage. She must have been startled from sleep and went running frantically around the cage. She seemed to settle down, but we later realized she seemed to have broken her back. When he went to feed her 2 hours later, she just lay there with only her front end moving. She was butchering age anyway, but it was unpleasant to have to butcher her unexpectedly and in a rush trying to do it before the sun went down.
