Good call on growing turmeric! I had success with sprouting (unintentionally) and planting store bought ginger last year but also picked up some stock (shell ginger) from a local grower this year. You can steep the leaves to make ginger tea with a milder ginger flavor.
Yes ma’am! Take the photo and markup with the identification. Working on one for my orchard next. Would be cool to do with an aerial photo!
Very nice. Extra juicy! I had one of those when I lived in Hawaii. Now that I’m in Florida it felt right to go with the key lime.
Second round of seedlings are planted after my chickens devastated my first round of starters. 😅 Hopefully these come up fast so I can get them in the ground before it gets really hot.
I learned a trick to keep track of what I planted without using labels that get knocked out or sun faded. What do you think?

That is the signature sign of raccoons. They got our last flock as well.
It’s so good. My kiddos loved the ladyfinger popcorn when they were younger. Such tiny kernels for tiny hands.
I got me some trees!
Two American hazelnut and a lime tree. They are tiny saplings but I have time for them to grow.

Proof of work at its finest. What kind of lime?
Good call. I was trying to construct everything myself but I might have to call it quits on that aspect. I have a version mostly put together that I’m going to try out and if it doesn’t work properly, will take your suggestion. Thanks!!
They roam free during the day and get put in a smaller pre-fab coop at night. We lost our first flock to raccoons so working on getting them a little more room to roam while still being protected.
Been working on building this custom chicken coop for months now. Still working out some details on how to build the nesting box so that the eggs roll out into a collection bin. 🤔 Hoping to finish up in the next couple weeks so the ladies can move in before it gets to hot in their currently over-cramped coop.

I know! I’m taking full advantage of finally being in a warm climate. Tropical fruits for the win!!
Every day is an awesome day to have an Easter egg hunt! Thank you ladies!!

This mango tree has been in the ground for over a year. Poor thing has been neglected since we have had other priorities. This year I’ve been watering and fertilizing and FINALLY it has some new growth!! Yay!!! Hopefully next year we will get some mangos from it. #growster #homestead #zone9b #growfood
My son has been wanting a snake so I caught him one. Found this little guy while I was weeding my garden beds. We believe it to be an eastern rat snake. Thoughts?
I’ve always thought I knew how to bake because I learned to make cakes, cookies, and other sweet treats when I was young. Now that I am trying my hand at making bread, I realize that I barely know anything about baking. It’s a hard realization that I have every so often in life. Very humbling. Please enjoy this picture of my very sad attempt at not so delicious baguettes. 😅
Some mornings are for coffee and others deserve a London fog with lavender syrup 🥰
My sister in Germany puts little toys and keepsakes in each one of the doors/stockings for advent. It’s not necessary to use chocolates or candies as tiny gifts can be just as exciting but with better health results. 30 days can form a habit.
Weekends are for baking. Ugly but delicious buttermilk biscuits on the menu. So flaky!!
