I've configured a WireGuard VPN on my router (workstation connected via LAN cable or Wifi, makes no difference), and nostr:npub1yzvxlwp7wawed5vgefwfmugvumtp8c8t0etk3g8sky4n0ndvyxesnxrf8q (web version) is very slow over it. It also takes forever to load all events in it.

All other websites and Nostr clients are lightning-fast over this router.

Yakihonne (mobile) over this router is also fast.

If I disable the VPN on the router and use the same VPN provider as a desktop client on my workstation, it's faster.

Does anyone have an idea what the issue could be? #asknostr

In some cases I'm actually glad that AI replaces humans, like in this case of cheap Fiat music produced for quick wear and tear. This industry can already expect a rough time and we should all start composing our own music. Sure, it's still extremely low level and a long way to go before it can imitate Vivaldi, Mozart and Bach, but I'm already looking forward to my own ambient tracks that I can play in the background while working.

From a grassroots democratic tool for discourse participation to commercial exploitation and now a war propaganda weapon in just 20 years. We messed it up.

... and a developer team consisting of the same 10 short sighted junior developers 😃 nostr:note1yflshwypz0vus8u89k4vcgxz3ksej6tvtumrq7y930rvq2vrptnqg30qrm

It was only logical that they would soon replace the products (us) with AI. That's the plan.

First, we were there to create content, then AI sifted through the 'right' content for viewers, then we were there to train the AI, and then they don't need us anymore. At most, we're just cash cows.

The 'social' in social media will soon be dropped. They want to become real media platforms.

nostr:nevent1qvzqqqqqqypzpcyjr4ssaej489k043kfjpak45gl8gwau4msq20p9p8xets0u774qythwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnwdaehgu3wvfskuep0qqsyfc6arpfs729thnyfv7wm2lght9gl6gdghmcr5c2mgleu3k3fdwqeahcgd

Its optimism is unshakeable. Even after 30 consecutive debugging failures, it still expects success the next time around.

As long as they train on our data, we could make AI completely useless, right? By writing posts that are never posted, inputting content that's nonsense, by asking questions we don't actually care about the answers to, etc. Just for fun. Feeding them a bunch of crap.

Yea nice video. But please explain to me how Bitcoin and self-custody help if you all just hodl and don't care about building a real circular economy on a broad basis.

Just recently listened to this podcast:

I couldn’t help but notice how much of the vision still feels biomass coded. You have big ummatic slogans, collectivist optimism, and vague faith in “unity” rather than hard analysis of what actually creates durable power. I mean it sounds attractive on the surface but it risks repeating the same patterns of fiat thinking that got us here in the first place.

Like the “subscription model” idea (100 million Muslims paying $1 a month) is essentially fiat logic. It presumes centralized fees, fiat rails, trust in bureaucratic management. It's not really a meaningful parallel system. If anything, it reinforces dependency on fiat jurisdictions, regulators, banking systems, etc that can, and will, shut us down the moment they feel threatened.

And there’s also the predictable dismissal of “crypto” as if Bitcoin were just another speculative casino coin. No need to comment on this as we've already done that hundreds of times.

But even more concerning is the call for Muslims to avoid wealth accumulation, as if piety means rejecting material leverage. But history shows that every functioning civilization had elites who accumulated and deployed capital strategically. Without Muslim elites building deep reserves of hard money, and creating independent financial infrastructure, any talk of digital nation-states is just hand-waving. Power requires concentrated capital! Not just collective sentiment.

What we actually need is not another ummah themed subscription NGO, but a hard pivot toward unapologetic/toxic Bitcoin adoption, elite wealth formation, and (actual) parallel institutions. Sacrifice has its place yes, but sacrifice without strategy just leaves us weaker.

If Gaza taught us anything, it’s that fiat boycotts are fragile victories (if we can even call them that). If we are serious about sovereignty, then the real “digital caliphate” begins with doing the hard work of lowering time preference and sacrificing consumption today in order to accumulate the capital needed for a future of genuine empowerment.

Cool, thanks. Now I really don't even want to look at it anymore. I'm getting more and more annoyed with how our people blindly follow the system. They don't question anything about the status quo anymore, don't even think about challenging the foundations of this order. But Allah, azza wa jall, says very clearly, very clearly, right from the beginning in the Meccan period of the Quran: Stay away from Riba. Why haven't we learned that lesson yet?

That’s complete bullshit, what this guy is saying. “Self custody Bitcoin and you won’t have any problems with digital ID.”

And this is right after he said that the face scan won’t just be needed for a bank account, but also for jobs, housing, healthcare and so on. How are you supposed to fix that with Bitcoin? Offer every landlord Bitcoin? Will the average NPC even accept that? And does everyone have enough saved up in Bitcoin anyway? How does new fiat come in if not through the fiat onramps that about 99 percent of Bitcoiners use before converting to BTC? How many Bitcoiners actually get paid in Bitcoin for their jobs? Is your health insurance suddenly going to accept Bitcoin payments for premiums?

Grabbing a coffee for a few Sats every now and then on some sunny island or in some trendy city was never going to cut it. You wannabe influencers can keep cranking out proof of concept videos for your clueless followers all you want.

Like I said, total bullshit, totally out of touch with reality. It’s not enough to just post nice slogans for years. That doesn’t cover up the failure of the Bitcoin community to actually use it for liberation instead of just treating it like some crappy investment asset.

Time to admit it: the Bitcoin community has failed. Owning BTC doesn’t even protect you from digital IDs and face scans. That’s what happens when you don’t live up to Mr. Nakamoto’s philosophy. Head off into the valleys, forests, and mountains, far from civilization, with a small flock of sheep or goats and live in wooden houses you built yourself. That’s the only alternative to digital ID. If even that.

Separation of state and money, my ass. It's too late.

People always saying you can’t even search your own feed on Nostr. Well, I threw this together in under 30 minutes:

SearchInNpub: https://mslmdvlpmnt.com/SearchInNpub/

Only web. Should be built in in every Nostr client.

nostr:naddr1qq2k642sveax7uzf0far2k2kg3uh5urdgvu5xq3qgzuushllat7pet0ccv9yuhygvc8ldeyhrgxuwg744dn5khnpk3gsxpqqqp65w3vgu9p

Use 2 paid relays as Read/Write relays, like https://azzamo.net/, https://jellyfish.land/ or https://nostr.wine/

Use 1 popular and free relay as Read/Write relay

Use a few free popular Relays in only-read mode, like relay.damus.io, relay.primal.net or nos.lol etc.

Use 1 inbox relay for DMs

Extra Points for a local relay for backups.

They declared Nostr dead again. nostr:naddr1qqcxzjzjxp35snfkf3unj6tptpfx5c3jd36ky46xdev4sursvfk42a2exguhgnr689m4q4z3xdx5gemeqgsv4cpufp925svhy23depvl96qrudpu8xu6px4k46kg4ck39f7kvugrqsqqqa28qlleu4

Awesome move. Ninety-nine percent of customers probably have no idea what it is or what to do with it, but it just happens to be pretty much the best cold storage you can get in a regular retail store.

If one day in the future self-custody ever gets banned and made impossible, we’ll be telling our grandkids, “Back then you could even buy those things at REWE for 150 euros, right next to the meat counter,” and they’ll just think, “Yeah right, the old man’s lost it.” 😄

Finally, they're officially admitting it. By the way, this goes for the whole West.

Wait a little, wait... I'm cooking up something big here. Otherwise, I have a small app linked in my profile (ZapStar).

This product description is so AI generated 😄

My book is finished! The German version is done, the English version (translated with AI) is ready, all the images are included, and the cover is designed. It's almost ready to go to print.

I've already found two people to review the German version. One is even an editor-in-chief and incredibly intellectual. I'm a bit nervous about his opinion. For the English version, I definitely need reviewers too, especially since I'm not a native speaker.

But once that's done and I've incorporated their feedback, it's off to the printers, inshallah.

Reminder:

You can just find out who zaps you the most

https://mslmdvlpmnt.com/zapstar/

To be honest, there are half-truths and half-lies on both sides. I've been following the debate too and it's too much to pick apart everything right now. But some critics are right about certain things, and wrong about others.

Similarly, among the SAIF people there are also many charlatans and wannabes who don't really belong there. I'm guessing this will consolidate itself over time.

I haven't used Google Search in years. I don't even remember what a Google search results page looks like anymore.

Brave search is much better anyway.

https://reclaimthenet.org/google-age-verification-ai-expands-to-search

Haha, I wrote the same thing once. Because both lead back to the same principles. If you're just a fiat Bitcoiner and only see it as an investment, you're just waiting for 'price go up'. But if you see Bitcoin for what it was actually invented for (freedom from banks and their self-inflicted crises, medium of exchange, self-sovereignty, etc.) then those same values should also lead you to Nostr.

nostr:nevent1qvzqqqqqqypzqv2qwtqkl22r8cfhfa3wtvpvs93egmkjnz5umca32s238s5ar8llqy88wumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmv9uqzpqx7ayxdz9jtyjy9k6urahsf782vd794llytus8xvgkyxya8q3udw3m3nu

But my stack can be buried with me too. If don't tell my seed anyone or don't write it down anywhere 😏

To be honest, I kinda thought you were Muslim even before today. I already had you on my Muslim Nostr list. Eh, you probably counted as one before anyway. But now you've made it official. Anyway, mabrouk on entering Islam!

Ironically, Grok has been getting pretty funny lately. Upholding unbiased justice no matter what. And not just in this matter. What are they going to do now? Corrupt the AI to benefit political profiteers? Or continue to focus on logic and truth?

nostr:nevent1qvzqqqqqqypzq0mhp4ja8fmy48zuk5p6uy37vtk8tx9dqdwcxm32sy8nsaa8gkeyqyg8wumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnddakj7qgwwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkctcqyp9f38zlpwsksqjd59uws28ha70zd3w6vjjfynxmpuj4dfe55fp4zdl7jfx

I said something pretty similar about a year ago or so, and the reactions ranged from just shrugging it off to straight-up laughing at me. All that "We're so different, we're free spirits" attitude. But he's right. Someday everyone's gonna get caught totally off guard. We're still flying under the radar for now, but for how much longer?

nostr:nevent1qvzqqqqqqypzqqm9x092su3hd9rdfe8aafxp5pzpak3cegkem9qhhvmqqm96406cqy88wumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmv9uq3qamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wd4hk6tcqypdwjvzrw6frrynsrx6k52pf3pftwl9wkxtune4tldt2fpxcdjzukzrf03z

I updated ZapStar so it shows the relays that got queried now. Man, that was a tough nut to crack.

https://mslmdvlpmnt.com/zapstar/

That might be true. It's also true that the training data currently isn't great, and AI assistants are more at a junior level. But they'll probably eventually reach a level where they can implement the experience of seasoned developers, which is also based on rational, statistical information. For example, how to best structure architecture, how to write and prepare tests, how to utilize "real life" knowledge, how and which tech stacks to use for specific tasks... all experiences that AI doesn't have yet. But more advanced versions could incorporate that.

But I use them too. You know, gotta put food on the table.
