Have you ever wondered why the other platforms have so much “content”?
Hint: The product on those other platforms isn’t the polished videos and oh-so-palatable, algorithm-driven nonsense. The product on those other platforms is YOU. YOU are being sold.
Your attention, your clicks, your eye movements, etc. The “content” you’ve been conditioned to expect is just advertisement, carefully packaged and curated for us to poison ourselves on.
#Nostr doesn’t need this. Here, the content is ideas and controversial opinions that you have to seek out for yourself. You have to develop an appetite for getting offended and listening to others who disagree with you.
Otherwise, you’re just a product my friend. Dare to break the mold.

I wonder if people realize just how much freedom they lose when they agree to measure value in Fiat terms.
It’s like saying “Help me big daddy government! I’m too stupid to figure this out for myself!”…
Keep running head first into those chains humans…

#Nostr is a great place for controversial opinions. In fact, it may be the only place where genuine discussion of complex topics can still be undertaken without censorship.
If you’re not getting offended by some posts on here, you’re not doing it right.
Similarly, if all you’re doing is posting circle jerk content and memes that appeal to #Nostr’s known user base, you are also not doing it right.
Just my unpopular opinion.

This is a much better version than the typical “I saw a liberal” or whatever since it acknowledges that they are all criminals. The liberal/conservative or democrat/republican bullshit is just misdirection and placates the masses through the illusion of choice.
I appreciate your optimism. I hope it works out as you describe. That would be a nice change.
I really appreciate it when folks can express themselves and the rationale behind their beliefs. Thank you for that. :)
Don’t give yourself afib Maria. :)
Although I agree coffee is delicious.
But muh precious illusion of choice!
How dare you. :)
The gym is one of the very few places where I find being around other people tolerable.
Especially when I see really unfit people making an effort, however tentative or small. Sure they have made bad choices in the past and likely will again, but at least for the time they are working out, I can appreciate the obstacles and inevitable insecurities that they had to overcome to be there.
Even the most vain wannabe influencer working out in full makeup and a g-string (or the roided-out grunting douche bag) is being tricked by their vanity into doing something at least somewhat good for themselves.
That said, anyone who records video (other than for the purposes of discrete form assessment) can fuck right off and die in a fire for all I care.
While I do have a lower time preference, I have no desire to leave any trace of myself whatsoever, let alone a legacy.
Also, I will produce precisely zero children, very much by choice.
I also happen to be very pro-Bitcoin which seems completely at odds with your assertions.
Of course, you are as entitled to your opinion as anyone else, but be careful about thinking every bitcoiner fits into the same box as you.
In fact, you may benefit from considering one of the main strengths of this technology is that we can all disagree and the protocol doesn’t care or discriminate at all.
For what it’s worth, I hope you’re right and I’m wrong. :)
I understand the frustration you are referring to. Sadly, I really don’t think the majority of people want to think for themselves. We (humans) seem instead to have such anxiety at the mere thought of actual freedom that we hastily give it away to the first charlatan who promises to know and share with us the “truth”. Whether we practice our cultural programming, religion, politics, brand loyalty, etc, examples of such behavior are everywhere.
Ouch!
That nerve seems a bit frayed no?
So easy to trigger a breeder. Such hollow logic coupled with the permanence of really poor decision making.
Rather than trying harder to reason with a simple silly human, I’ll go back to enjoying those extra 20+ years of usable life expectancy I have.
I’ll start with a nice cross country ski adventure this afternoon.
Cheers, you silly sad little creature.
16 billion acres of habitable land. 8 billion people. 2 acres per person.
Have you tried living off 2 acres of land?
Current estimates for the average American are about 24 acres per person.
Also, have you been outside lately? If you haven’t, that’s ok, it’s getting really fucking hard and expensive to do because there are so damn many of us. But if you have, then there is no doubt in your mind that there are too many of us.
Anyway, you are entitled to a different point of view. It’ll be your kids who suffer. Not mine. :)
How so? Genuinely curious since I’ve reached a different conclusion so far. Would love to hear an alternate point of view.
Reproduction in an already overpopulated world.
It is nice to see a technology that isn’t trying to peddle influence but rather the sharing of ideas and need for conversations and debate about complex topics.
An influence culture generally relies upon having people agree with something, usually some single false “truth”, when the reality of life is often far more nuanced and individualized.
Neither the influencer nor the influenced win in these paradigms btw, because there is no real growth happening, just an inevitable and endless cycle of confirmation bias and progressively narrowed thinking.
#Nostr is likely not immune from this type of thing, but it is nice to experience something different for a change.

Family is a cultural norm.
It’s a nice concept, but not all family are people you should necessarily maintain relationships with.
In fact, it may be best for you to eliminate such people from your life. They are just people after all, and you owe them nothing more than anyone else.
So again, here’s to living a life on your terms, and not cursing others with the same inheritance of a broken world.
Make the most of what little time you have left to live free and with maximal awareness. When the time comes, rejoice in the fact that your portion of the meaningless cycle of human nonsense ends with you.
Being honest with yourself is harder and a constant struggle, but infinitely better than the other fake and pre-packaged recipes for happiness that are out there.
Just some thoughts for myself on this Christmas Eve.
