I only recently found out of + being positive and - being negative recently by manually looking up how satellite.earth tagged up/downvotes in it's events. I knew about holding the zap button in amethyst to get to zap settings so out of curiosity, gave holding the react button a try. Lo and behold I can change the reaction options! And + was a heart/- was a thumbs down.
Back in the day reddit was my fav so hope such compatibility for voting can be somewhat unified in a few nostr clients.
Though till learning of the - reaction, I considered ALL reactions to be positive. After all some dvms will no doubt provided content based on all activity a post gets and you wouldn't help someone providing bad content get more views.
Let my friends daughter helm /steer the #sailboat this summer. It was wild for the first 15 minutes we came about every few seconds minutes until she eventually got the
feel of things and helmed all the way back. She was scared to sail at first but now can't wait to be back on the boat! #sailing
I assume the attack may be someone trying to make a point. Probably with bad intensions but possibly to forcibly up the client devs priority on handling spam before another "twitter migration" type event happens.
A bot that replied from each relay when requested could make sense but this replying to every note.
I can't help but to think calling it speech is like calling a ddos attack legitimate use of a service.
It will be lynched and that is the expected outcome. I'd be surprised to hear many relay operators find it helpful.
It's interesting how when they do mention it in a positive light it's historically the end of up season.
People will be able to send money with a bank account! We've come so far.
Overpopulation is a Lie https://video.nostr.build/33e2c2a084d58b06a1fdbc26e64c0b0e4ab02cdb421dc4c4f1bf7c19221bbad9.mp4
Not a lie just different desires, like the ability to find a good camp spot and get away from people every once in a while, or eat quality real food. We can SURVIVE with a lot more people. Doesn't mean that's desirable.
Everyone in this thread clearly wants the betterment of those in Venezuela. It can be hard when dots being connected before ones eyes conflict with ones feelings.
It's sad situation but it's revealing truths to the world.
Wow and that's with an Alby custodial account? I get that with Mutiny too but figured it was the price for self custody.
Interesting. Hours of troubleshooting in my experience with Nvidia on Linux though so I moved to AMD. Glad it's moving along though.
Unfortunately VR still
I feel best the closest to the three B's I get. Don't think I have electrolyte issues but I did notice Dr Berry now shills an electrolyte drink 😏 I think "natural" may generally be good but one hears of a discovery of cavemen eating some plant then it's loaded in the cart every stop at the grocer.
Next thing you know fiends like me won't stop eating and then symptoms return. I'm just glad I found my way to a new life by giving it a hard try.
They've been lying to us for well over a century. https://nostpic.com/media/a3ce3b178db030c5bdcddd1aa7c9a9127ecb17f16f7daaf5d8216860b7588d3c/1451e9f3ae192fc6a6b120a50151dd1ded39bb27f56b886eadbdf7b776b285d1.webp
There i was thinking we just happened to eat more meat back then because it took time for farming to grow, but then I read some of Dr Salisbury's book https://archive.org/details/b2150796x/page/n7. We've known what food heals us for a long time.
As you suggested I watch a video by Dr. Ken Berry: I Was WRONG About Veggies (Plant Problems) 2024.
Here are some of my thoughts:
Too many carbs and fibers
He thinks that for some of us vegetables contain too many carbohydrates and fiber. He doesn't explains who the "some of us" are, why thy are a problem, what digestive problems they encounter, and why those people might want to consider his challenge.
He is addressing a small group of people who have digestive problems and "weird inflammation* that they can't get a handle on. Those people should not do a challenge online, they should visit a doctor. They need personalised care from a healthcare professional.
Antinutrients
He says that vegetables are full of vitamins and minerals, but the problem is that they are not bioavailable. The reason is that plants contain antinutrients (phytates, lectines, oxalates, ...).
He doesn't mentioned that those compounds are present in such small quantities that they're unlikely to harm our health when eaten as part of the whole food — compared with eating them as a single compound. Or that cooking significantly reduces the levels of those compounds. Or that they there are research being conducted on their possible health benefits including slowing the progression of cancers, reducing inflammation and protecting against infections.
Inflammation
Polyphenols are a group of compounds found in plants. They boast a wide range of health benefits, thanks to their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Having a reaction to one plant doesn't mean all plants consumption should be stopped. Is the reaction due to a allergy or intolerance? If it's an intolerance, find out how much you can eat without triggering a reaction. Slowly increase quantity overtime. Again work with a professional healthcare provider, don't do an online challenge.
Because some people have a reaction to a specific food doesn't mean we all have to stop eating plants. And saying that plants is the reason for the symptoms with medical investigation is pointless and dangerous.
With a carnivore diet you are missing out on health benefits of plants.
The gut microbiome is important for human health: digestion, metabolism, hormones, mood, brain health, immune system, energy levels.
The gut is home to 70% of our immune system.
Fiber is the preferred food of microbes in our gut. They break down the fiber and produce short-chain fatty acids, which are potent anti-inflammatory compounds that have healing effects on the body.
Plants contain a wide variety of healthy compounds like polyphenols. These act as antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory powers.
Animal products don’t contain fiber or polyphenols.
Here are a couple of podcasts you might want to listen to/watch if you are interested in learning why plants should be part of your diet.
I agree, see a doctor. Don't gett off their medication until your nutrition has got your tests back in order and they advise you can get off. However surprised they may be it was due to cutting out plants. They're learning too. The truths been slow to grow but getting there. I saw doctors but glad I came acrossed the nutrition that works without endless doctor bills going nowhere. I've heard of these things about fiber and other "truths" backed by big food.
I was skeptical at first. After all the Internet is a cesspool of lies and small corners of truth. I was experienced with dietary discipline as I'd already cut out processed foods but I had to go further.
For anyone not experiencing medical issues, or those who fixed them by a doctors visit without being roped into lifelong bills, this may not be needed. However for you recommend against my cure and recommend what I now know would be poisonous for me... Discerning, which was my point in the beginning. People need the information that works. Not what makes companies money.
I did have allergies... Now I don't. You don't believe me, I get it. Maybe I wouldn't have either. It took a family member a while to convince me to try.
Hey nostr, I like a good story of liberty tech doing good in the real world so I'll share... I found this #sailboat (though I did find on Facebook lol) I am buying with #Bitcoin! I saw the boat name and assumed they must not mind accepting it! https://nostrcheck.me/media/ff2bfabafea9d5c3b00fe6a285139239012680f3cbf43ac5532a8736a95f8070/2d3259d956439d25fd4ebc7baac8a7fd359720061a73bb204b41f348aa55ba5d.webp https://nostrcheck.me/media/ff2bfabafea9d5c3b00fe6a285139239012680f3cbf43ac5532a8736a95f8070/eeee61ed0f24cb1f28b4802182f7557e62d2461903ca871e7cfd5f221901a262.webp
Could you explain why 50 buck node cost increase could be more worrying than transaction cost? Who in said countries would run a node on a chain they can't afford to use?
I get the importance but the balance of priorities don't make sense to me. I'd think if poorer people were running nodes more than rich we might already have bigger blocks.
15 years storage has gotten cheaper, but Bitcoin holds more transactions and the blocks still the same.
If they can afford these transaction fees wouldn't they be able to afford storage?
Everytime I think about this my mind always ends up at they just don't see base layer being usable by everyone as a priority. But then I'm confused because they say all other blockchains people could use are shit.
LN still requires base layer transactions and always will especially when your balance is lower and self custody on a phone.
I agree but I think their issue is with node operating costs. There may be an incentive issue? Those that care about transaction fees just don't use Bitcoin and of course won't or can't afford to run a node anyways so nothing changes.
I've always had it in my mind this would naturally even out...
