When someone wears a bowtie in 2023 outside of a wedding I am not sure what to make of it.

Only acceptable if it spins around in a comical manner

I used to wear bowties every day about a decade ago. There’s just no reason to try that hard.

DOWN BAD šŸ˜‚ Man I gotta write about my old normie days ā€œConfessions of a Standardized Personā€ incoming

LMAO oh no bro. Did you have a Livestrong bracelet too?

I can’t remember, but almost certainly. That’s said, I WAS the lead consultant manager on a accounting and profitability strategy project for the China arm of one of the world’s largest seed oil purveyors…

Sure sign of an economist?

It’s probably Bill Nye

Guaranteed they are very worried about the climate

Just remember this guy!

Funny story. Years ago when my son was younger he was acting particularly wild around the house and I said ā€œwhat do you think this is peewee’s playhouseā€.

He looked at me oddly, so I said ā€œthere was an old tv show called peewee’s playhouse and the host’s name was peewee Hermanā€

And he said ā€œbut was there really a playhouseā€

So I replied ā€œYes, and trust me you don’t want to go there, peewee was a weirdoā€

Well, are they wearing it ironically? Because there’s a distinction there as well. There are factions.

There’s a set in old school finance/academia/barbershop-quartet that seem to straight rock it.

Might be a new funky style trend thing?

Academic.

Some folks are not taking themselves that seriously, maybe just kidding.

CIA or spec ops assassin.

They prob don’t know either but do it for the inevitable free psychoanalysis

I think classical educator or Austrian economist...

they are likely seeking attention

I find bowties unappealing even at weddings. Always go with the tie.

Retired CIA spook.

Most likely a Rothbard groupie

They might be trying to use it as an ice breaker and open new conversations

Ha ha. I never put on a bow tie except in my daughter’s wedding. But this character looks like a negative ET.

We should all learn to let people be. To each their own.

Jeffrey Tucker?

Ken Rosenthal (fox on-field baseball reporter) wears a different bow tie every game and then he auctions them off for charity afterwards. So that’s one good use case for bow ties.

Hey Lyn

Agreed in the traditional sense, it’s like Hi šŸ‘‹ I’m an utter wanker badge.

Also

Depends where they are wearing it , it’s colour etc no? Bow ties in the military can look pretty nifty.

Jeffrey Tucker. Murray Rothbard.

Not Pee Wee Hermann.

1 bow tie = 1 bow tie

As someone who wears a suit/tie five days a week, a bowtie is a good way to get some variety in your daily look. My only rule on bowties is that they should be paired with a three-piece. As another poster noted, bowties are definitely far more prevalent in the US South.

Reason?

šŸ˜‚ Agreed

That’s someone’s personal preference… no need to make anything out of it!!!

Don't go watch barbieheimer. Youre killing grandma.

I've never seen anyone wearing one as casual wear, but if they did I'd think it would be kinda cool and unique. (This coming from a guy with orange mohawk)

Maybe is a fan of a newsletter of internet cartoons

Most likely they are a neurologist, lol. It’s a trademark

Doesn’t Peter Hotez wear a bow tie right below his shit-eating grin?

The bowtie is the direct descendant of the original mercenary cravat that started the tie era.

I think the modern long tie that gets in the way is the stupid, useless one.

I threw all long ties away years ago, when i realised how pointless and wasteful a nuisance they are, and replaced all with highest quality silk bowties that have to be tied each time worn.

I get compliments on them all the time, and they never get in the way!

The cheap, pretied ones are the only bowties i would never wear. They are for children.

I shall never wear a long tie voluntarily again.

It is a common misconception that by dressing up one is "showing off." On the contrary, it means that one has enough respect for the people around one.

When a man shows up in flip-flops and shorts, he is not seen positively as being "free from restrictions" by the cultured. He is just being disrespectful to his fellow men and nothing else.

T-shirt wearing and swearing (using words like "fu**" all the time) so-called "low-time-preference" Bitcoiners, whose content I otherwise like, unfortunately do not tend to understand this.

One would think that "low-time-preference" Bitcoiners, who wax lyrical about beautiful buildings, would jump at the opportunity to bring back beautiful clothes. Unfortunately, this is turning out not to be the case.

#Bitcoin #Clothing #Fashion #Civilization

I find the bowtie goofy, I am a classical tie person myself

some artists do - my admired idol photographer Greg Heisler

Ancaps... ancaps everywhere...

They are most certainly hiding an old garotting scar. More common than you might think.

Since when did I start taking marching orders from a bowtie -stolenšŸ˜‚

I come in peace, I mean you no harm. Probably have a hat on with matching suspenders

Bow ties are cool

Probably a clown, a psychopath or a central banker which in the latter case means both

That means the bow tie bottom is in and the really cool guys start wearingbtzem again. ;)

Seems a little creepy if I’m honest šŸ˜‚
