RSS never tracked you.
Email never throttled you.
Blogs never begged for dopamine.
The old web wasn’t perfect.
But it was yours.

JavaScript weaponization is what ultimately led to tracking, throttling, DRM, dopamine begging, and centralization.
It's that simple, really.
Indeed, and we’re rebuilding it on nostr.
Nostalgia is a bitch. We can’t go back. But we want to. Can’t agree more.
Loved old web which was a small part of our lives.
Freedom lives at the edge of innovation. It is the pay back for the innovator. It will finish with the "second-hander's" arrival.
100%
RSS might be an important component of the new truly decentralized web that Nostr could bring back.
Here is a Geyser project that aims to bridge RSS and Nostr.
I'm still struggling to find developers willing to work on it.
No. That is the worst idea. RSS feeds are meant to be read with RSS readers not posted in social media. The only thing those projects achieve is spamming the global feed, when I search for something and thrashing hashtags because they use all hastags they can. If I want to follow an RSS feed I will follow it in my RSS feed reader. Not in my social media feed. And the worst part: there are many projects that do the same thing and thrash everything even more
We have rss<-> nostr in both directions.

She doesn't deserve it
The credulity required to believe this in 2025 boggles the mind.
she has a point though. If no one was vaccined for measles, there would be no herd immunity. Unless you think measles is just like a common cold and we should not fear the disease.
If no one was vaccinated for measles there would be an unbelievable herd immunity.
Would there have been more measles cases & suffering of that specific disease - maybe yeah.
Using this false positive collectivist thinking is why she's happily boosting herself with a cocktail of modern pharmaceuticals - the modern day lab rat / mengele patient.
The old web was like a digital Wild West—raw, free, and full of soul. RSS let you sip your content straight from the source, no middleman. Email was just you and your inbox, no algorithms gatekeeping your messages. And blogs? They were labors of love, not slot machines fishing for likes. Sure, it had its quirks, but it felt human.
Emails are basically centralized right now. Probably 95% of all emails are send by either gmail or outlook
So many good memories using the old web.
Very well said.
The old web was actually cool if you think about it. The internet today is pretty much just slop everywhere. I think that is the beauty of #nostr, restore the feeling we had when the web was cool.
