thankful for spooks in canada and nostr:npub1utx00neqgqln72j22kej3ux7803c2k986henvvha4thuwfkper4s7r50e8 for reminding me of the importance of non-kyc lightning apps such as #robosats. Decided to ditch shakepay today and will be focusing no-kyc exchanges only. The ux in these apps are pretty rough. Looking forward to contributing to these when I can.

I would love a native client for robosats, bonus with an order book backed by nostr. So much work to be done here.

Buying and selling P2P on Nostr seems a no brainer

Lol πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ who's sellin

Only downside to this idea is that

Miners should.

Cash at the post office via bull bitcoin is non kyc too

I wish I could do this in the states

find secret sats dealers you vibe with at yer local beetcorn meetup (feel free to ignore me here if u lib in middle of nowhere)

I’m picking up what your putting down

I honestly can’t believe that they allow that

up to 1k

Yup works well for me, cause i am dropping bands

I would every week. I get cash jobs often, I gotta that cash into coin

As much as twice a day according to the website.

oh thanks, yes shouldve added per day

didnt know 2x tho, that's more than EU allows! also up till 100k a year here + always some grade of doxxing from the way the app is developed also

Yeah, that's awesome. Not in the good ol' U S of A

I have used a bitcoin atm, a burner cell works well in the states

99% of those bishes record and store ur face ser

Yeah, i buy kyced via shakepay too though.

I know I am fucked.

fak

Canada is ass backwards to be fair.

Just a bizarre place.

You can buy a gun with less ID πŸ˜‚

SouthPark had it right. I didn’t really believe it until I spent a lot of time up there years ago.

Friendly people, nice to be honest, but something is just off.

Not off by a lot but enough that it’s noticeable.

Canadas retarted

πŸ‘Œ

Right?! Anything close to this in the states?

No. I think even the atms even ask for ID now

Yup

Welp. Time to move to Canada πŸ˜‚

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I wonder if I can send a money order or something to a Canadian post office from the US πŸ€”

Mean while i just want a digital USD card so I can buy a beer while watching hockey cause cash is no longer accepted

If only there was some kind of digital currency backed by a central bank

Actually just did that today for the first time. Went smooth, the guy at the counter even mentioned that someone else was here doing this quite a bit as well. Haha. πŸ’₯

thats kyc’d over 1000

It’s the only reason I visit the post office.

Not if you buy through the post office.

this excites me

Funny, I wrote about this just yesterday. I am all in for the idea of #Robosats, but the UX/UI is very confusing.

The fact that there are two offers one with a 1% markup and one after it with a 6% markup is very confusing.

Is the 1% one a scam? Or is the one with a 6% markup a more premium experience? Why would I pick one over the other… or are these percentages arbitrary because the market price keeps moving.

I don’t know how to make a purchase decision. 🫣

When you set an offer, you choose your % mark up. The price is determined by an API but I don't remember which company. Typically the smaller markups want USDT

So always sort by % mark up and pick the cheapest?

yeah

Sort by % markup and pick the cheapest that has your preferred method for payment. They all have the same likelyhood of scam.. which is pretty damn near 0. With their escrow, I can't figure out how someone could scam

Thanks.

Let’s gooo πŸ”₯

nostr:npub1vtlqystr2056cqvuy8uehq5g757362029krqv5axw6gdw37kunkq7ajrhd has something pretty far along for no kyc robosats over nostr

oh πŸ‘€

I need a weekly DCA cash guy, like a drug dealer. Comes over wearing a trench coat n shit.

I gotchu

jb55 - your local sats dealer, also created damus btw

The things we might all do for a sat dealer like that. #yeshomo

Builders be building, lfg.

Nostr should prioritize enabling IP privacy

use a vpn ?

Are you still considering implementing tor into Damus ? πŸ€”

yup

🫑

Yes please.

By the way, how much money per month would it take to make the Damus team solvent?

I’m thinking freedom software should have best practices enabled by default.

VPNs may hide your IP address from the nostr relay, but most don’t hide your IP address and traffic from the VPN company, who probably even has your personal payment details 🍯.

At some point, if we’re serious about defensable free speech and freedom to transact, we need to build privacy into the base layer.

If you use nostr:npub168euw93e4cam59llcmydav0akwjk2p4nfy3p85pn22xv9y2jxuzq4s9uaw you can pay with sats to protect your personal information.

https://vpn.sovereign.engineering/

That definitely helps, but they will still have your IP address, if they decide to collect it. You’re subject to their privacy policy and whether they can resist govt pressure. You’re forced to trust the VPN provider β€” which is not how privacy should be.

There are some new VPNs that claim to have no ability to log your IP, but they’re not widespread. My point is only that we can’t expect normies to understand that they need a VPN and moreover which type of VPN to use.

I’m suggesting that it’s better to just bake in privacy into the nostr protocol to benefit everyone, including non-technical folks.

Agreed. that's why I have two VPNs. At the end of the day your connection always goes through your ISP (encrypted or not) and it's relayed around the world by centralised DNS servers. There is no such thing as a private internet. Unfortunately.

Also most "free" VPN providers are just copies of other VPN services or even just tunnel through poor security of other providers. Naomi Brockwell made a video about this a few months ago. You'll find it on Odysee. Basically 90% on the app stores is just garbage and/or data collecting machines. Selling your information to their partners.

I second your notion of baking (more) privacy into nostr though not sure how to go about that and if that would be something the average person would grasp or endorse.

You’re in Canada? What about Bull Bitcoin through Canada post.

πŸ‘† withdrawal via lightning works πŸ‘Œ

I'll throw a Bisq recommendation in the mix for noKYC btc, but beware the UX (and mining fees ATM) is also rough. Good to have more options than less though.

You sir are the man.

I still like what Shakepay and company are doing. I still use em, but it's good to keep a freedom stash.

As an old wise man said:

Yes please πŸ™

This would be πŸ”₯

Yes please and thank you! πŸ™πŸ’œ

Attacks make us stronger

Did anyone say Peach Bitcoin yet? πŸ‘

Wise choices

Been loving using Robosats for stacking since June 2022 because I'm stopped from making purchases on exchanges in my country - no fiat rails. Grateful for this option as Bisq and Hodl Hodl don't have lightning yet.

Hope you're already connected but if not please contact team at

Matrix: https://matrix.to/#/#robosats:matrix.org

I tried to use robosats a few times but have given up for the moment.

This is the way

hard to say goodbye to shakepay

but I’ll give it some thought

I believe they have a native client, but it’s android only.

I think android is the only reasonable thing. Theres no way apple would allow that app.

The android one is just a packaged version of their web app.

"I think android is the only reasonable thing. Theres no way apple would allow that app"

As usual πŸ™‚

I think we can count on side-loading on Apple device as pretty imminent at this point.

I wonder if they allow notifications in side loaded apps? Thats the biggest thing I would want for a mobile robosats app

Robosats allow you to optionally setup notifications via Telegram, with SimpleX on the roadmap.

Native notifications would be better, just saying there are plenty of ways to fight back.

A bit of hopium but.. Damus on Android?πŸ™

I love Robosats, the UX is pretty nice compared to e.g. Bisq v1 IMO. The only thing that sucks is that most offers require payments using KYC services such as Sepa, Revolut or Paypal. Hope to see more non-kyc offers such as various giftcards and even in-person/cash payment options. Maybe this comes natually with more adoption?

Will mail cash for sats

lol. I'd easily do that if I knew I could trust the other party though, but then I wouldn't really need Robosats anymore. I'd even consider it if someone I trust vouched for an online trader that would accept mailed cash.

I'd even do it with complete strangers in small amounts. Bitcoin seems pretty high-trust right now. Ultimately that would break down though.

You send first 😏

You should check out the P2P marketplace project on LN about NOSTR 🟣. Called MOSTROP2P made by nostr:npub1qqqqqqqx2tj99mng5qgc07cgezv5jm95dj636x4qsq7svwkwmwnse3rfkq

The telegram bot version called LNP2PBOT has been working very well without KYC

there is a new call https://vexl.it/ but i think is just for Europe

We are global!

This is the way. πŸ–•KYCπŸ–•

BullBitcoin.com Post office method is πŸ”₯ and can withdrawal right on lightning. Good rates, In total about 2.4% including the initial post office fee.

I'm glad robosats is growing on you. All other options have major drawbacks.

* Bisq: terrible legacy UX that uses bloated desktop java client with a slow SPV bitcoin node. Also on-chain only, so it costs a lot in tx fees which prices out lower amount trades and causes trades escrow period to linger when waiting for block confirmations.

* Peach: unlike robosats (which uses trust minimized hodl invoices) the escrow is custodial. Also compliant with Swiss regulators so it enforces payout address verification. Not only opens the door to more regulation, it also incentivizes address reuse, which is terrible privacy wise. Also on-chain only so it suffers from mempool volatility.

* HodlHodl: centralized custodial escrow, on-chain. Verification requirements depend on chose trade peer.

* Azteco and Bullbitcoin: awesome idea but limited geographic availability, so not for everyone unfortunately.

Not sure why β€žonly on-chainβ€œ is a downside?

Buying sats for hodling on lightning makes only sense when you don’t open up channels every time you buy. (Which is mostly the case)

This means you have to open up a channel every time you stack sats, which is more expensive than a normal transaction.

Phoenix?

I spat out my water when I read this....

I'm sure your referring to a protocol but you may wanna rename that πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

more government propaganda

Yes.

yes.

Shakepay makes it so hard to leave with their free withdrawals in these high fee environments. Gotta weigh these costs against the price of freedom I suppose.

Their recent focus on becoming user’s β€œbanks” is off-putting and their refusal to remove ETH is frustrating.

I appreciate you, nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s and nostr:npub1utx00neqgqln72j22kej3ux7803c2k986henvvha4thuwfkper4s7r50e8

All non-KYC fiat-for-sats platforms have a limited lifespan given it won't be many years before any fiat transaction is strictly KYC except for cash if it still exists and if you don't have bitcoin by then the only way to get it is to earn it.
