One thing that is glaringly obvious after spending a short period of time off twitter/on Nostr:
The twitter algos are hyperspecialized in inciting and amplifying highly charged emotional interactions.
This becomes more and more evident the longer you spend away from the platform.
The interactions feel much more natural, positive, and communal on Nostr. Good vibes all around.
That’s why I stopped twitter more than a year ago but only just now starting here.

The engagement farming algos are built to keep you in a trance.
The human instinct to rubberneck at a car crash.
A very sick method to boost analytics.
The further you distance yourself the worse it appears in all honesty. An amazing cleansing.
I agree, but if you can hijack that Algo feeding to instead promote some sort of positive emotion it produces a different, equally dramatic "high"
You will get less engagement here for sure, but it will be real 🫂

Yup. The algorithms are definitely designed to incite emotional responses and are like an addiction in my opinion.

Absolutely. I never really used social media before nostr. It was always shallow interactions until now.

Why did you deactivate your Twitter
Often, I see posts that infuriate me. Even when curating my feed tightly. Fortunately, it doesn't happen here. Or less often.

Twitter would be multiple times per hour sometimes
Nostr is a lot less addictive
Also try switching between different clients. Each one treats content a bit differently and provides unique UX.
Don't forget about securing your keys! Use browser extensions or something like nsec.app to keep your private key safe.
This will change once the „Bitcoin-only“ vanishes 🤷🏻♂️
Regarding Twitter, I think that was the case before Elon arrived, no?

"The first clips will create a dopamine loops based on created emotions, it can be whatever, even a disgust. Then the loops will get connected to the physical movement, the swipe. It can be a sound (pornhub, netflix, phone vibration).
Then slowly the loop will move before the swipe, so the expectation of the swipe and the potential emotion will be enough to release the dopamine.
But over time the amount of dopamine decrease and you’ll have to swipe more and more often to squeeze something.
And the algo just makes sure to keep you in doing that based on their retention metrics."

Legacy tech monetizes through ads and does everything it can to glue your eyes to the screen.
