Suppose a zap wallet provider gives you the option for all zaps to be private (they don't publish receipt events) - would you feel cheated as the zapper that nobody can see that you zapped someone?

No
Yes, very much.
No, stay humble and stack zaps ⚡️
No
Thanks for reminding me. I've reset the anonymous option by accident a while back and forgot to turn it back on. Amethyst has a few options regarding this matter.

yes.
I would like to send some private zaps... but in general the act of zapping, like the act of liking, is part of the social interaction... and thus should be public by default. (private by exception)
No. My zaps buy attention of the individual I zap. I don't care if anyone else? Sees it.
Nope.
I still got the bitcoin to them didn't I?
Privacy and security for the zapper and the zapped. Nothing wrong with that
Nope. Especially as an option. There's a time and place for everything.
no because if I choose for my zaps to be anonymous then it would be my own choice.
we can argue a couple ways, namely that wanting a zap to show is or is not slightly self promoting/narcissistic and not wanting it to show is or is not altruistic/humble — however we want to put it. Or that it is none of that. But, wanting your zaps to show or not is not necessarily any of those because it depends on the zapper's heart/intent.
so in the end individual choice is best.
No, just use a Lightning wallet
I like the idea, and in general think it should be an option. The only circumstance where I think I would feel “cheated” as the zapper would be if I was zapping for the purpose of zapvertising, because in that case I am zapping with the expectation that others will be able to see that zap on that post. I believe clients would need to indicate somehow that the recipient only receives private zaps. Perhaps the the zap icon on their notes could have a different look than normal zap buttons.
We talk about this a long time ago. I still think people might see an increase in their zaps if they weren't shown to everyone.
Talked*
I’m certain of it. Anecdotally I’ve experienced that myself. And I have been outright told by a few people that they sometimes choose not to zap a post they liked if they see it already has been zapped a lot by others, because they feel it has already been zapped “enough.”
Yep. I get that. Pretty sure I was one of those people . The perception of value isn't built off of just what is gained/spent but also what each has in possession at the time.
To help solve the "making reception status known" issue, I think that could be reflected in the name of the wallet when displayed on profile. Dawn @ shadowwallet .cash or whatever clever name conveys that the wallet is a privacy respecting one.
Absolutely not.
I don’t feel cheated if the receiver would know
More options > less options
No
An option to add a note would be nice, otherwise, no, not really.
I never think about who can see my zaps 🤷♂️
I’d just like a little check box for private or not.
There are times where I’d like to signal how much I liked their content to everyone (a review by someone you know is better than a random one). But I’d also love to contribute privately, or even do business with someone and pay via zap, when I wouldn’t want anyone to know.
