It’s hard to tell if Roger Ver is a scammer, or a victim of many scams. Perhaps he is the most malicious liar in Bitcoin history.

I don’t really care. He says everyone should hold their own keys, privacy is important, and Bitcoin can destroy the central banks.

This is the message of Bitcoin. If Roger is using this message to scam shitcoiners, I don’t care. The message is far more important than the messenger.

Michael Saylor does not like this message. His message is that Bitcoin needs to separate itself from the cypherpunks.

The big blockers were right about one thing. Big blocks are far less centralizing than KYC custodial lightning.

- the Lightning network

- Bitcoiners promoting #MSTR like it’s more ethical and decentralized than Ethereum

- Michael Saylor and Peter Todd promoting shitcoins like Monero because "Bitcoin doesn’t need to upset regulators"

- BlockStream getting $21 million VC money to create sidechains, and giving us a multisig shitcoin instead

It is not hard to tell. On Twitter, if you criticized him you’d be met by a lil army of shills. Don.t like that r/BTC sub on Reddit either and how the sub description was changed. But Ver found Nostr I guess, seeing BCH shills popping up here and there lately.

I am not a BCH shill. I think large blocks on L1 are a bad idea, but this does not mean large blocks do not have a use case.

The problem with big L1 blocks is it makes the cost to run an L1 node too expensive. If less people can run a full node, then the 21 million could be compromised. The 21 million is all that matters.

With a big block sidechain, pegged 1:1 by Bitcoin’s proof of work, it doesn’t matter if the optional L2 node is a bit more expensive. We can have multiple big block sidechains with atomic swaps; so the 21 million is always secured, and the sidechains are still FAR more decentralized than any shitcoin or custodial lightning.

I was not referring to you. Just random notes I spotted here and there. I’m not really criticizing big blocks, I’m criticizing people using shady tactics. (I don’t understand blockchains well enough to have an opinion on block size, but I understand human behavior well enough I guess)

Big blocks are more centralizing in the long run and they are inevitable if enabled. Everyone would have to download them to be self sovereign. Lightning can be used in a self custodian way, many people just don't want self custody. They used exchanges to store BTC even at times when Blockchain was small in size.
