Let's see how nostr answers this... it's a test.
Hypothetical scenario: you have to write a paper on some subject. Do you use GPT or tough it out and write it all by yourself?

Id use it as rough idea a stepping stone if you will, than do some fact checking and add to it.
So yeah id whould use it but not blindly
use it to write an outline only so I can just flow state to structure
If it is a subject I know, I see no reason to use GPT
I think you should use all help you can get. But I do think you should be in control. So probably could use it as help.
Ofc the best is to write yourself. But we sometimes are bad at expressing ourselves. And we have blind spots and so on.
Of course the best quality would be you only but spending a lot of time & energy.
I'm not a writer, I generally search for information and use AI to better structure and write the message based on the information I searched
Use GPT for research, create outline, use GPT for each section, subsection.
Lo escribo yo mismo
I'd write it but I like to write.
Depends. The more you know about a topic, the less gpt can help you write about it. Feel like it never uses the exact keyword that is need and it’s analogies are just unheard of.
LLMs are great as a tool, not the solution
I’d have it generate a summary of points it thinks are important — then argue with it for a bit to see how it defends those points. Then I’d write the paper myself.
I write the core ideas after doing research and pulling in citations. Using the freedom of writing thoughts and ideas is unmatched. Once the structure is built I would use unleashed.chat to fill in the spaces connecting ideas and making sure examples are provided for those ideas. I am really bad at that part of writing.
GPT has been dumbed down tremendously over the last 6 months. You’re going to get trash content if it writes for you (my experience). However, still good for flushing out ideas and developing a proper outline to write to. Also still good for simpler things like punctuation and grammar corrections.
My experience is that it has been good about things that have an easy definition, and making basic connections between concepts, but misses the big picture. In many ways it feels like someone who knows a decent amount about the subject, but is not a subject expert.
Yes! Have experienced this.
Totally agree
Depends on why I have to write the paper.
Also, I sometimes find GPT useful for cleaning out my English.
Might use GPT to help with wording of specific sentences, but otherwise toughing it out.
I have not played around with GPT. For this I think it would be useful for the initial research phase if you don't know much on the subject. I may also use it for coming up with an outline but not for the actual writing. Writing that I have seen from LLMs has been terrible, it should get better though.
Years ago in school, I would use Wikipedia for initial research. I would quickly scan the page, then go to the resources links. I imagine GPT would be a better way to go
write it by myself, and enjoy it bc i’m not a beta pussy
I'd use GPT only for grammar and spelling mistakes. The biggest part of content would be notes of research taken elsewhere.
I've never used GPT, so I would write it myself.
I think we need a more critical approach towards the so called "Artificial Intelligence" (I prefer the term #ApparentIntelligence ). Promising efforts are being done in the Feminist AI:
https://feministai.pubpub.org/
We try looking at AI in dialogue with such approaches, with my undergrad and post grad students.
Depends how much you care about the subject and the readers.
Remember back in Aug - Sept #BTC at $25ks how it felt like it couldn’t go up but down only right?
Now it also feels like #Bitcoin can’t breakdown but up only right? Yes, The market is simply following it’s usual pattern
If you haven’t join the RCL Vip newsletter group already, I would highly recommend you start now https://t.me/rebelcapitalistshow RCL is doing a great job in demystifying biases in #Bitcoin and bringing clarity to controversies.
I break down the process into research, outline, drafting, editing, and publishing. I then use the tools in different ways to help with each step.
These tools are a bit left brain and need prompting and directing. There's no magic formula. It's more like instructing and mentoring an intern.
I'd ask GPT to make a template and with an index, then do it myself.
All by my self... I find annoying that you need to double check and often correct GPT output.
