What is the libertarian solution to people stealing my Amazon package, because I just lost an expensive one

Handguns are illegal in Canada.

Yet another reason to GTFO...

Maybe head to the US. I hear the boarder is wide open over there.

"An armed society is a polite society."

what does amazon do if you report you had a porch pirate? do they ignore it unless you already installed their spy cameras or?

They say tough luck, once it's at my door I'm in charge of security

i guess if you are in a porch pirate zone maybe there is secure receiving venues nearby as well? i see so much noise about this on the internets in big american cities idk how you can stand to continue living in places that are going so far down the toilet

where i live they could leave my boxes sitting up high on top of my entry fence with a big lit up display saying "steal me" and it'd be there two days later if i happened to somehow be away from home for that long

Private security that shoots to kill 😂 sorry for your loss

If it’s very frequent, maybe dummy packages. Plant a “steal me” package with a glitter or stink bomb in it and keep it cycling on and off the porch every so often. 😆

I give this advice as someone who has never done it, but watches YouTube.

Second option, and one I’ve been thinking about personally, is an auto-lock package “box” somewhere. Could also be something not permanent, but if you have some serious deliveries coming, you leave it out with a note to put it inside and shut it.

Won’t work so well if you have multiples arriving unless you want to go crazy with a camera and a wifi/app based lock/unlock mechanism.

You can have a default note for the driver like "leave package behind bench" or "leave package inside chest next to door"

To be clear, for anyone not yet had coffee... that nite has to be inside the APP. Not on the door !

A box that the Amazon delivery person can securely put your deliveries that you also have a key or passcode to. Or deliver packages to your work.

Hang out on the porch with a gun all day. 🤷‍♂️

Just think of all the extra sats you have by staying in da ‘hood though.

Or put out a fake package rigged to a perimeter alarm.

They probably won’t be back (hearing wont be back either!)

I feel like when the world is on a bitcoin standard there will be more prosperity for everyone and less incentive to steal things.

That is my hope anyway.

Maybe fewer but always gonna have poopy heads out there

I'm libertarian and if I have something valuable coming I have it dropped off at a nearby Amazon locker. They have them in some grocery stores and Walmarts, etc.

In a libertarian/free society people would probably have their own private security/insurance services they contract with to keep things like this from happening. If your package was stolen, your insurance would make it good and give you another one or reimburse you.

My apartment complex has lockers on-site and I get texted a code to open it when I have a package delivered

For home delivery, people have often had some form of one-way drop (eg English mail slots in the front door, a chute into 1800s American homes for coal delivery for heating, recent efforts by Amazon in which you give their delivery person some sort of electronic access to your home)

Get a po box... No?

Choose a nearby Amazon locker rather than your home address as the delivery location.
