I’m looking for something with high amounts of potassium for recovery after training. Do you know anything that fits this? In fruits preferably. Easier to consume quickly after training

Dried apricots. A big handful is like 25% DV. Many nuts are high in it too.

The sugar is the problem with those too...and the gas πŸ˜³πŸ’¨. I LOVE dried apricots though.

Sugar might not be so bad post workout. Glycogen will be depleted so it has somewhere to go. I always give fruit a bit of a pass too for it's sugar levels, the included fiber and nutrients slows absorption compared to processed white. When I lost a ton of weight it was basically a meat dairy cabbage & fruit diet.

Dried apricots have fiber...trust me on this one...πŸ˜‚. Finding dried fruit without added sugar is a nightmare, this may just be for me though. I need to get a dehydrator πŸ€”

My wine making friend gifts me a huge jar of home dried sour cherries every year around this time. They are a fantastic dried fruit. Better than the candies!

I better call her and hook up a visit soon πŸ€€πŸ˜‚

I need friends like this.

I’ll be very old when I start talking about dried fruit unironically. Like not as old as nostr:npub132ny9cnwv5rjzw0ppk6ev34gn2n48zjejed2k0kcjxgawxt86mps7f9u95 but pretty old πŸ˜‚

πŸ˜‚ πŸ‘΅ I do like the dried fruits...just call me gramma

My dad used to have problems with his digestion. He was just fat and didn’t take care of himself. But I remember he would munch on dried prunes and swear that the fiber was helping him lose weight. Then I learned that old people love prune juice which I thought was disgusting. Idk im hella discriminating but I’m dreading the day where I post on nostr about the health benefits of dried prunes and whatnot 🀣😭

πŸ˜‚ staying hydrated helps with digestion...the massive amount of sugar brings moisture to the gut and facilitates the digestion more than the tiny amount of fiber in prune juice... Drink water and poop well all the time πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

This. Every gram of carbs needs 4 grams of water for digestion. Stay hydrated!

I cut down on fruit for a few weeks and noticed I haven’t been waking up thirsty in the morning lmao

I definitely need less water when eating minimal carbs πŸ’―

It's also why people think low carb diets are magic when they lose 8 lbs in 3 days, but then get disappointed when it doesn't continue like that. It was just water weight, not fat πŸ˜…

Yea makes sense. I just wonder how much creatine impacts that too. I definitely need more water because of that.

That I've never looked into. But it's usually taken with fluids, so it probably balances out. Too much water is hard to do though. Possible, but unlikely.

It's hard to tell when you're high and have cotton mouth lol

So sugar is bad for hydration?

πŸ€” yes and no πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

A warriors drink.

That guy looks like a yarnlady snack

That is basically my diet πŸ˜‚

It's a good one πŸ‘ helped me knock off 40% of my body weight in a bit over a year.

πŸ‘

Post workout smoothie with creatine πŸ‘Œ

Foods that have a higher potassium level are veg, greens, beans, and legumes. Show up to the gym with a pot of beans and share πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

I bet my potassium levels could kick all y’all’s potassium level’s asses (my diet is like 95% beanπŸ˜‚)

Probably πŸ˜‚

Lmao it’s not a competition 🀭🀣🀣🀣

The problem with beans is that they have anti nutrients that block absorption of important nutrients. Same with nuts. That’s why they don’t help even though they have helpful vitamins and minerals.

Beets. They are a superfood. Roast some up for the week and you will have them for pre or post workout.

Several studies suggest that dietary nitrates like those found in beets may enhance athletic performance.

Nitrates appear to affect physical performance by improving the efficiency of mitochondria, which are responsible for producing energy in your cells (12Trusted Source).

According to one review, beetroot juice could enhance endurance by increasing how long it takes to become exhausted, boosting cardiorespiratory performance, and improving efficiency for athletes (13Trusted Source).

Promisingly, beet juice has also been shown to improve cycling performance and increase oxygen use by up to 20% (14Trusted Source, 15Trusted Source).

Pickled beets still retain the benefits?

Yes!

Fermented even better

Yum

Yum

Anything fermented is mostly good

Okay. Go down on a girl with a yeast infection if you mean that 🀭

An acquired taste like natto 🀣

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

Beats are the NASTIEST though

πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

I love em.

They taste great

Beets 🫜

Are very good.

They taste like dirt.

Beats 🎧

By Dre aren’t good.

They sound like dirt.

But if you roast them right, they turn in to sweet beets

Take this back. They are good. Roasted with some salt & pepper & stuff. Yum. Or pickled on a salad (or by themselves) yum.

AFAIK dates have a high amount of potassium, even higher than bananas. And they’re delicious IMHO (I could eat a ton of them, especially Madjool dates, but that’s just me πŸ˜‰).

Dates are delicious

Dried dates omg🀌🏾🀌🏾🀌🏾

I tried dried fig once and it was surprisingly good. Some of the most delicious fruit look unappealing πŸ˜‚

Get out the food processor and make some date, coconut & almond energy bars. Now you're cooking, all 3 are good for potassium.

I heard this too. They’re pretty easy to eat just gotta spit out the seed.

I think coconut water is king of potassium ?
