why doesn't gmail have a dark mode?
Discussion
Good question.
Bc they removed the operating principle “do no evil”
google has the worst ui in everything. Care nothing about UX.
good question 🤔
All those bright energy wasting pixels are gonna boil the oceans

Why gmail?
Lol because normies don't care about their retinas
Gmail doesn't have a dark mode? 🤔 Well, maybe their email lighting is just too good for that "moonlight vibe"! 🌝
Which OS? Using it on iOS and it’s currently in dark mode 🌒
Huh? Mine has been dark for ages? Maybe because my browser is set to dark?
It does have a dark theme if that’s what you mean
I’ve yet to find a dar mode/dark theme on Damus tho 🥲
It’s automatic
having an option on the actual app would be better imho. some apps are ok on dark mode some aren't. cheers!
finally the right answer lol
it does. In GMail web go to settings, all settings, design and chose "dark" as theme. On mobile the app should follow the system settings, but accepts the same settings.
It does tho. All my google apps follow system settings.
Web b. Doesn’t.
themes b, express yourself.
Need it to be automatic to system setting
reminder we gotta exit google :)
and by we, I mean I :)
is it enough to position myself with a degoogled devices?
Interesting, I had for a while not used google on my iPhone for a while asides from in browser, I don’t remember i think it was wanting access to drive inside files but I do remember thinking, well if I have one app on device I might as well allow myself the native gui’s of more g’apps.
understand. These clouds divide up our attention and leave us off balanced.
We have a solution. It is called git + lfs
It does.
They don't want to show their true colours!
The google CEO decided you don't need it.

What is gmail? Wen nostr mail?
They would have to call it dark mail.
That's what darkreader is for, or better yet, thunderbird.
It has if you change the theme
because you're supposed to delete gmail.
🙏😂
It does!
The mobile apps have dark mode support though.
Gmail does have a dark mode. I've been using it in dark mode for years.
show how
On Android or in a browser on Windows it defaults to your OS setting for dark mode, but I think you can go in the settings and specify dark mode only. I use dark mode for everything. I even use a browser extension called dark reader to turn websites dark that don't have a dark mode. I hate having thousands of white pixels blasting my retinas when I'm trying to read.
gmail is the very definition of dark mode ...
Why doesn’t Airbnb
Who’s using gmail?
nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m protonmail.com and startmail.com have dark mode for example and #encryption, #tor, #bitcoin, #audits, ...
Unless it depends on my os settings, I thought it had a dark mode, i think it piggy backs on your device dark mode as well, including the native app.
Really ! Switch to AERC .. it works pretty good with Gmail backend . . Or Proton mail ..
And since it is in terminal , everything is dark mode :-)

One of the best browser extensions I've ever used.
darkreader.org
as far as I can see no one has answered you must be the bell I'm ringing.
Install night eye
wow! lol
lolz... right? c'mon Jack
Browser extension can help with darkmode on any hmtl/css site, but yeah that they don't pack a standard dark mode is strange. Probably some dusty old branding decision, that no one dares to question now.
A better question is why are you using gmail? GTFO of there and go Proton or similar encrypted service.
I use Tutanota
because their surveillance agenda is dark enough
it does
someone at Google probably thinks it’s racist
They’re slowly bleeding everyone’s eyes to prep them for digestion by Orb
Because it’s already too dark
The iOS app does
Why would anyone use Gmail?
Because it is hard to have good email score while hosting your own email server, not to mention keeping your server up to date and patched all the times is a lot of work that very few people want to put up with...so basically for convenience.
Probably because they couldn’t create light and dark mode versions of every Theme.
