On the bright side, I recently read a reassuring post about why nuclear armageddon is unlikely.

Yes, the Russians have a lot of nukes. But the maintenance requirements to keep a massive stockpile on constant readiness are huge and Russia doesn't commit the resources necessary.

So, if Russia were to pop off, many if not most of their missiles would fail.

The Russian military knows this. They also know that the American military's missiles are well maintained. Nuclear war would not end well for Russia, and it's arguable that they don't even have the benefit of Mutually Assured Destruction.

Let’s not take chances, though?

not worth the dice roll

So of the 5800 Nukes only 1000 will boom. Thanks god.

Russian roulette: only some American cities will be glassed.

Their satan missile test failed the other day

On purpose or by purpose? That is the question. In an age of blatent extreme propaganda, deep fakes, intelligence agency bots, you all still are believing the shit force fed to you and insist on not seeing the forest for the trees!

Are you a flat earth person?

It was so nice here until these morons showed up on Nostr

Yah and a transgendered string theorist to boot! Now that that's out of the way, why not come to Nostr and continue with the labelling bullshit? That's how arguments are won, right? Playing the clowns' game? Or you just a Fiat bro riding the coat tail of Bitcoin and true Bitcoiners?

LOL - except they have the most powerfull bombs in their arsenal. Doesnt take alot to ensure mutual ensured destruction. Anyway - you would want it in gridlock with nuclear powers check mating each other

Also that this system runs for profit, destruction is not good for profits.

The fear, drip by drip, this is the goal.

People in a low vibration state are easier to control

This sounds like zaihanian boomer cope to me. If you can be sure about one thing than its that Russia was, is and will be capable of MAD and they are constantly making sure that everyone knows this. However I'm still looking for an argument on why the Russians WOULD use nukes against anyone.

It’s not Russia I’m afraid of. It’s the hubric maniacs in Washington I’m afraid of. My worldview has changed a lot the last couple of yearsđŸ€·

Wouldn’t surprise me if they were still using some old soviet tech too, that not only lacks regular maintenance, but is unlikely to work as it should in the first place.

I actually know nothing about nukes in today’s Russia. Just extrapolating from my observations from growing up in an ex-soviet country during the 90s 😁.

It's 2023 and THAT Russia hasn't existed in 20 years!

Unfortinately that sounds like the sort of shit US political parasites would use to justify doing whatever they want to Ukraine & Russia.

This thinking is wildly dangerous as well, because even if their arsenal is diminished. Russia certainly has enough nukes to take out a non trivial amount of American cities.

"Hey, you know, that guy running the govt you're squeezing with economic sanctions, tanks & military bases on their border, the pipeline you just blew up, & the overthrow of their closest trading partner to start a proxy war... He has a bunch of nukes & has clearly said that he will use them."

"Yeah but they're not that well maintained so really what are the chances if that?"

America has become a nation of idiots. Truly.

Sum uv us are doin just gr8

Even the supposedly intelligent inviduals get fooled by the mass propaganda! Read history people, maybe check out John Mersheimer and other actual experts.. Not warmongers with interests in defence industry who have got their fingers in the pie

Not really! Just led astray by carefully crafted campaigns of mis-information.

Mutually Assured Destruction game theory breaks down when you remove the assurance.

Unfortunately It still breaks down into a place of wide spread devastation.

I have, on several occasions, chosen to enter conflicts in which I was extremely likely to loose.

At least I am not a nation state, nor do I own nuclear weapons.

Also, do you really trust any article to tell the truth about Russian stockpiles? Remember articles: "the war is not going well for Russia" "Russia wasn't prepared for the war in Ukraine" etc.

While I’m not scared of nukes going out actually, I am scared of what the FEAR of nukes will do to the populace.

Everybody benefits from the threat of mutually assured destruction—that’s what makes nuclear Armageddon unlikely. If one side doesn’t counter a credible threat, the other side will take advantage. Game theory. Think about it.

Can you share the post? Interested in the read.

I'm pro gun, anti nukes. Nuclear weapons are evil. I never bought MAD and I don't buy this pro nuke propaganda. #[0] #[2]

This is in a nutshell how russians think:

" find mush, you push. If you find steel, you withdraw"

Vladimir Ilich Lenin

Meh, complete quote, no edit ii nostr â˜ș

You probe with bayonets: if you find mush, you push. If you find steel, you withdraw

It's even more basic than that. Putin enjoys his massive wealth. And even if he didn't care, the oligarchs he depends on who run all of the country's major industries enjoy it even more. If there was even a risk that those oil, coal, steel, and other industry monopolists could lose that to nuclear war, they would assassinate Putin faster than he could say blyat!

We sure about no mutual assured bla bla bla?Guess America and it's "allies" are trying to fuck around and have us all find out. We all cool with that? Placing our hope on duds and denigrating the "enemy"? Seems very based and first principles guided.

And why the fuck do bitcoiners and mainly American bitcoiners who are supposedly anti government and anti state institutions the first to laud and proclaim all the power of the American military and all the awesome weapons the STATE possesses?

This describes why Russia has no particular advantage nor interest in nuclear warfare. But what gives us confidence that it won't start from or be provoked by NATO? Global hegemony is at stake, an economic reset needed. Western majority population is hypnotized and in normalcy disbelief, while politicians don't rule out nuclear as an option. Waking up to psychotic reality and speaking up is what's needed! Europe is conveniently far away. What was the only country again that ever used nuclear weapons in a conflict?

I hope Jason Lowery's paper is being read intently.

Ironically, this is exactly the sort of US-centric arrogance that would directly lead to nuclear Armageddon...

my same thought lol

Too much assumptions for my taste.

We need peace.

Have you seen the Ukraine on Fire documentary by Oliver Stone? It’s on YouTube. Whatever you’d think of it, I think it’s good to listen to more sides to stories. Personally, I think clashes between big powers are a mess anyways, so I wouldn’t bet on one party being more sane than the other.

No mention of hypersonic weapons? You need to read a bit more, it def wont be reassuring. Only the Russians have such technology already deployed that US cannot defend against.

American nukes are also right on Russia’s doorstep. Where as Russia has to shoot their nukes a decent distance to hit any major areas jn US

Been hoping this was true. How can we know for sure though?

The question is how many do you need?

There are maybe a dozen big European cities . A single bomb in each one of them will bring Europe to its knees

Russia only needs five nukes that still work to wipe America off the map. You wanna bet that out of the thousands of nukes that they have, there aren't five or so that would reach five major US cities?

It's hard to believe a guy as smart as yourself can fall for jingoistic think-tank propaganda like this. I guess no one is immune to statist brainwashing. Is this really a gamble a sane person would take? What if just 1-5% of their nukes hit their target?

I don't want my family to die in a nuclear winter. Something tells me you probably feel the same way, even if the chance of that happening is just 1%. You panicked pretty hard after you got swatted.

I hope you're right!

Nukes are fake
jeez you people are really lost in the government sauce. Possibly still fully darted.
