I thought the same thing. But now I use the relay.noswhere.com relay exclusively for searching. No problems anymore.
use nostr.band and listr.lol, go through other people’s following lists and see who they interact with, scroll through the explore page, find and explore different hashtags 💜🫂

I'd suggest you try nostr.band and explore various clients. There are many that make browsing profiles easy, and you can see who other people follow & follow those as well.

This advice is proof of stupid. No wonder nostr isn’t really growing. Few angry nerds that say GM every morning…
Sadly all the clients are kinda lame and recommend the same bunch of opinionated nerds (and Gigi) that circle jerk each other (they call it zapathon) on how nostr is awesome and it fixes everything and it’s the meaning of life itself. But if you hang around a bit you’ll see it’s actually just another product of broken money. These morons made their money selling bitcoin to other idiots and so they don’t have to make anything that solves anything or does anything anyone would actually pay real money for. So clients suck, relays suck and the whole new user experience is just shite. But it’s worth a visit if you’re into cyperpunk subculture phenomenons..

Primal is good for that. Just type A, you’ll get biggest starting-with-letter-A accounts. Also most zapped are good suggestions. Can’t talk much about it though, for some reason can’t post there

Just to be slightly contrarian, I wouldn't follow too many people, I would avoid following off trending/most zapped lists too. You kind of have to dig around for the good stuff lol. I personally find the community posts (only available on some clients eg satellite.earth ) and hashtag interests eg #bookstr more useful to find people. Welcome
