I think being able to pay with Bitcoin everywhere is good enough already. I don't care if my counterpart received EUR or USD or GBP or whatever. I don't need to pay "in" Bitcoin, just let me pay "with" Bitcoin and that, works already.
How are you paying bills with bitcoin? I don’t have any options here.

Yes, eventually but the fiat powers that be classed it as an asset knowing full well that classification hinders its use as an everyday currency. Will take a long time IMO. One of the biggest pain points for me over the past year living on a Bitcoin standard. Every month having to scramble to convert enough sats to fiat to pay the mortgage and CCs adds extra work and stress.
I used to think that until I dug deeper. Not sure where you are located but here in NZ & AUS you can use something called the PIN network to pay bills using BTC. We tried couple weeks ago on a phone bill. Just used the iOS app. Only major thing now for us is mortgage. I think it’s coming sooner than later.
Granted the phone company didn’t accept BTC, but the PIN network converts your BTC and pays the bill on your behalf. It’s a good step towards direct payment. We can now do all household and life admin bills using PIN except groceries, fuel and mortgage.

the Orange reality we want to live in probably won't happen in our lifetime. It would be prudent to plan and adjust your expectations accordingly.
Yes we are heading that way but if you want it to speed up a financial crisis has to happen for people to lose trust in the fiat system and rush into a Bitcoin the companies have to start accepting Bitcoin and not fiat. It will eventually happen.
I think collateralized loans might be the best option.
1. You get Fiat to spend
2. Interest is going to be way lower than any other loan or capital gains
3. You get to use your Bitcoin without selling it.
