Influencer onboarding is probably the best way to grow nostr’s social use case.
Most of us are here because of Jack. Had he not mentioned nostr and actively participated early on, we may not have found it or stuck around.

The taibbians didn't really stick about maybe?
He’s not really active here and I’m not sure if he even announced it or mentioned it?
Hm I thought he must've cos there was a couple of days where there was a wave of noobies mentioning him. I suppose snowden doesn't even turn up but pulls a crowd. I saw someone attempting to purple pill nick land on twitter. Which would be. Something. Interesting?
People are social creatures and get influenced socially: it’s not always effective to just tell someone about something, they have to know that some other people they know are into it and that they may be missing out.
I think content is a sort of issue. It's been mentioned a few times, the casual user will find it hard to find the pockets of interesting content. Not sure how many would stay for a feed of 'fix the money fix the world' for eg lol. However the strength really of nostr (and which I actually sadly can't participate in) is the ability to build and projects to work / join in on. I think that could be a potential angle imo. But yes again, I agree it would take an influencer/someone with a following to get that word out effectively. Just think out loud.
This is not meant to sound like a dig at anyone fyi, lol. It's said with the hope that nostr succeeds:)
It may be a different situation with other use cases like music. I think there, a grassroots effort may be more effective. Smaller artists earning get attention from bigger and bigger names.
Jack being called an influencer is kind of hilarious to me, but I totally get your point. I did find out about #Nostr because of his Twitter.
Oh, he’s an influencer all right. He was on here just the other day pumping Hanes comfort fit t-shirts. These influencer types, lordy!😂🤣😂🤣
You don’t say. Next up? #SKIMS
I came on here for the idea 💡, didn't even know Jack was here until I got here.
Had no idea who was here before spinning up my npub. Came solely for supporting a protocol I thought had value. Found an amazing bunch of people and stuck around. Prior to Nostr, I was a non-engager that observed only.
Very interesting, why didn't to engage on bird app?
It felt like casting thoughts into a void there. Became a place to source information for me rather than a place to engage.
How did you hear about it?
I believe I saw nostr mentioned when Twitter was banning promotion of competitors or something like that. I was intrigued cause it was new to me. If it was worth banning, it was worth looking into. Found the nostr white paper and new I had to give it a go. Felt inevitable after thar.
Ya that’s just a ripple in Jack’s splash.
My point is not to elevate or credit any one person here, but to trace it back to the type of event that led is here. Maybe not first order effect but 2nd, 3rd and so on.
I stuck around for quality engagement. Who was engaging was irrelevant, the what and the how made me stay and promote it to others. Likely due to the pseudonymity of most. The only thing that makes me disengage is grifty behavior. “Influencers” are pretty cringe most always and likely a turn off for folks seeking quality. Just an idiots opinion.
Welcome to social media then.
If you only observe, you are not participating.
Your vote does not matter, but your voice on social media can change lives!
I know I have changed lives on twitter..for the better.
And on social media 2023, you can be part of different social groups and even movements if you want.
And maybe help make the world a better place? It's all up to you 🙏
I am here for the decentralization, been kicked off all other platforms. People said stupid things so I gave them stupid answers.
How did you find nostr?
Through twitter and the announcement of Damus but SatsGodzilla helped me really get on board.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that either / both of those events were just ripples in Jack’s original splash.
Even if they weren’t in your case, the ripples continue in many others.
Maybe I brought some attention. But people are here and stay here because they could build whatever they wanted, and didn’t need permission from someone like me. Ultimately I’m irrelevant. As it should be.
Oh 100% - I mean solely for discovery.
I appreciate that attention! I would have missed out on joining this amazing community 💜
Não podemos negar os fatos!
I def became aware and joined bc of twitter post: TestFlight for damus.
I stay because it is so much more authentic than any other. IMO, It’s okay to be a bit obscure while getting it right.
No you’re Chill Papi
#[4] when irrelevantly zap type?
You are still great 👍. Like to explore and innovate. Keep working hard. If you decide something, you must stick to it. So Scorpio babies are powerful people. I really like the personality of Scorpio babies.
You raised visibility, and that’s why a lot of people even considered looking! 🐶🐾🫡
Thank you. It's really nice to hear this from you.
Or maybe like the bitcoin protocol, ~”everyone can be part of the story” and thus everyone is relevant. As it should be.
...and then in the not-so-far-future you will "pull a satoshi" and disappear. Nice
We need things like group relays, lists, etc so that more groups can join and easily have their own "space" and enjoy.
This has become the cypherpunk clubhouse.
Let's make it easy for others to build their own on the protocol.
Like the sound of that :)
I think it would be cool to be able to switch relay group to, say, a set of relays focused on a hobby, (kind of like an old forum) it could be like discovering a new, hidden country.
I want lists for pretty much the same purpose, but maybe a little more focused on specific people.
You log into the relays, read a curated feed of top posts there, and start saving the npubs you are interrested in into lists.
I would assume many are spectating to steal ideas. Give it time, even Twitter took a while to onboard people and wasn’t all that different to the public feed view we see on Damus.
I’m fine with time. Just sharing ideas. People are free to ignore them.
I found it because of #[2]
I’m fascinated at the point.
Definitely brings folks in. To have them stay, need a breadth of conversations. Right now, zaps and bitcoin chat is fun for our echo chamber but beyond that, I can only see really persistent folks staying (for now)
