Have been vegan for 9 years. Been feeling low energy more recently and decided to introduce other humane sources of protein and vitamins to my diet. Decided to start with clams. That was last night. As of this morning and today, I’ve had to make the toilet my new permanent residence. These clams are ripping my insides a part. 💥🪦

I went 8 years with no meat except fish and then I tried some Parker Ranch Big Island, HI totally grass fed and no antibiotics or hormones red meat and I woke up at 5 am every morning for 6 days with the worst stomach ache ever. I had to lie there in the fetal position to get a little relief. I would last for about an hour. Boom. Now I love red meat.
I wanna know the farm and how the animals are treated to be sure I feel ok with it. I wanna start with eggs and see where it goes. If anything helped you in your transition, lemme know!
After that first incident, that was it. I never felt sick again. I took it slow and introduced meat about 1 time per week and then just kept adding more. Within a month, I could eat as much as I wanted. I definitely believe in Know Your Farmer practices. That goes from everything from cannabis to milk to the water I drink. I actually only drink distilled water that I distill myself at home and then add 2 teaspoons per gallon of baking soda it to get the Ph to 7.0 (neutral)
Why clams. That's the worst you can choose. Do cow fat or something of that nature. Not bugs from the sea hahahaha 😆
Because I feel too guilty.
Humans: empathetic apex predators.
O' the irony.
I have no problem with hunters who go out and kill to feed their family because that animal had a good quality of life. It’s that all the places near me farm them in confined and miserable conditions. I’m not vegan because I’m against eating meat. It’s simply not right to me morally the way most of our meat comes to be.
go to the source, or rerurn to the "seed".
Shake a ranchers hand, they say.

you can look into the ranch before you buy.
Thank you so much. I will totally check them out. It’s been super hard navigating all these farms and labels that are gimicky and false.
agreed.
I found a local rancher, absolutely have loved dealing with the family directly. It's been a great experience. They even deliver, meeting us at a local gas station. Feels like a hack. Prices are in line with local markets, especially when you consider the support network.
That is so rad! I’m gonna call some of them and ask questions about their animals. Do you know off the top of your head if any of them sell eggs as well or is it solely red meat?
I haven't used it for eggs, but I certainly assume there's some to be found. People are certainly passionate about their lifes work. It's so nice to see in the world.
from one in my state...
and thanks for the ⚡... 👊

Omg this is so amazing 🫂
All the more reason to support the ranchers who practice humane methods of raising livestock.
TVP not cutting it?
*he types from the throne
What’s tvp?
Textured Vegetable Protein
It’s like flavourless ground beef.
Ahhh I see. I do a lot of tofu-based products
Yeah its like the opposite of tofo, it can’t taste like anything but it is texture which helps immensely.
I have used it in lentils sloppy joes & bolognese sauce. The kids & wife were none the wiser

I would urge high quality well treated steak from a local source. Every time I start feeling low energy I almost invariably realize I’ve had too many carbs or just low density foods for a couple of days without realizing. Having a big steak flips it like a switch for me.
My plan is to start with eggs and then slowly transition to meat once I find a farm whose practices I like.

Just eat beef from cattle that are raised happily. Life changer for me and my family!
Yeah that is my plan. I live in a big city so there aren’t many near me. So I am researching ones than can ship.
I spend one year or so with very little animal proteins. Felt very weak. Went to an acupuncturist: he said "you have very low energy."
Now I eat chicken often. I like shrimps (wild caught) too.
any big change in diet will probably mess you up for a little bit
