It used to be like that, but now spambots actively use boosts, and overall the feed full of boosts looks terrible. As soon as I see someone using boosts, I immediately unfollow them.

Automatic un-following of npubs that reshare things doesn't require intelligence. It may help keep noise out of your feed, but it does so at the expense of discovery.
Putting in the low time preference effort of thought and nuance is worth it if you want nostr to be for humans and not just bots..
Someone make a boost scheduler feature. Or boost delay.
retweets are violent, because I chose to follow that person and not the one who is renoted, so they are centralizing, so they do not increase discovery, "make a flock".

When publications are blasted into the void with zero target, and don't get discovered, you don't solve it by having other people re-blasting it into the void.
You solve it by targeting + curating in interoperable Communities.

All the spam in this thread reminds me why downvotes are needed in the UI of Nostr clients. Then in your client settings, you can set what you want to happen when downvotes happen on comments and notes. For example, when 5 people you follow downvote a comment or note the client just hides it from you based on your setting. Or when 15 of your WoT friends downvote it, it hides it and mutes the npub etc. we need a way to actively NACK content for community mgmt results. I may not be able to censor you, nor do I want to, but I shouldn’t have to hang out with you when you’re a PoS rather than my WoT.

Y'all just retweet each others' stuff, so everyone just sees the same people being retweeted over and over. And it's the same people everyone is already following. Which are also the same people on the recommended list. Which are also the same people in the most-popular follow packs. Which are also the same people on the trending list. Which are also...
First thing I did, was turn off reposting. Now, every post gets seen by me, one time, and basta.
If someone reposts, I just add another profile pic icon to the posted note. I don't present it in the feed, again and again and again
But I let users sort by repost count.

Nostur has a feature that hides a post you've already seen. But it's still in progress #Nostr
Yeah, I do that, as well. But I do it locally, as I can't get the read-events to be persistent. Nobody can, apparently, as I've never seen it work very well.
The problem is that, because everyone follows the same mega-npubs, most people's feeds are basically ded, without the reposts. The reposts simulate activity because you can keep scrolling. You're just scrolling past the same thing, over and over, but the scrolling movement itself satisfies the desire to feel like you're interacting.
Follow concentration means that almost every npub's posts have zero views (which is why they almost always turn around and leave, as that's a permanent state) and 10 npubs have 20k views. And then there's the curmudgeons, who look at each others' stuff and have 10 views per post.
And that's why follow packs won't actually help. They'll all have the same handful of people on them, and the most-popular packs will be the ones with the highest-concentration of the most-popular people.
Were just early.
I see new things often through people reposting things. We just have a long way to grow.

Also true for most big music accounts here that promote v4v artists.
They just endlessly promote like the 10 most popular ones and ignore me anytime I make my existence known to them. They have no obligation to boost me, sure, but still has major "V4V for me but not for thee" vibes.
