I was banned again but im not missing bird app. Nostr is better and cleaner. It just feels organic.

The timeline of twitter is also corrupted. You get fed outrageous stuff without any knowledge why or who is behind. posts are suppressed by the algorithm. Shadowban of search. Shadowban of threads. It was so ugly.

I have thought often about the point you’re making. How much of “personality” (emergent complex behaviour) is shaped by a system built on theft where some people win at the expense of others versus what that behaviour would look like in a system based on truth?

I hope so. There is a battle for integrity for sure.
It’s the win/lose paradigm which mandates that in order for a few to win, many must lose. Nostr is demonstrating the win/win paradigm through the current zapping trend. If I think that Nostr will benefit me, I reward others so that they’re encouraged to participate in helping to build the protocol. Then they do the same. Zap, zap, zap. Everybody wins.
I often think about whether greed is the resulting behavior of a system built on theft, and would greed thrive in the new system.
I have a running theory that the lack of algos, deletion, and the addition of positivity-reinforcing mechanisms like zaps may make nostr "nicer" overall as positivity is rewarded. Sats give a real value to what posts people actually like, vs bots boosting outrage. May there is a bias right now because of all the bitcoiners, but we shall see.

You can’t take back talking shit in real life, maybe that’s a good thing here. Forces you to think before you post. If you make a mistake in your post, it’s okay because we all do it. We’re humans, not machines. This community is new to me and feel more welcome here than other social networks. Real people want to connect and build each other up.
Instead of deleting, someone will have to live with that post and really think about their viewpoint (hopefully!). Might actually bring real discussions.
This is also a great point because I think nostr is closer to irl compared to Twitter because you can’t delete. The way people act face to face vs behind a keyboard is not even comparable most of the time. At least nostr brings you one step closer to being civil.
What? Social media? I think it’s a net positive for humanity simply for the information flow. It’s the first time in history where a nobody pleb can bring truth to the world with ease. And nostr/zap is a game changer for that same group imo, especially in the times to come. This is the anti WeChat.
Zaps will eventually replace likes as the default / important metric, for exactly these reasons. People will stop looking at likes altogether. Or maybe only out of sheer curiosity.

The ability to zap any post is a real game-changer. I don’t think we’ve even begun to appreciate the implications. It is starting out as a fun exercise, but I think it will quickly evolve into the standard way to conduct commerce.

we're already seeing this to a certain degree. i've noticed more and more non-bitcoiners entering the space. probably because we're making so much noise about nostr on twitter, which we should continue to do to foster adoption and bridge the gap

You could compare it to a free market I guess. Everybody has the same chance to do (share) whatever they want, provide value and therefore get rewarded. There are no sanctions (bans, shadowbans and so on) or subventions (boosts for woke nonsense for example) which leads to the most valuable things spreading best and also receiving monetary value. This feedback loop contains so much positivity that the experience has to be amazing!
I also think your „bias“ will diminish over time because this feedback loop will also benefit people that are not aware of free market mechanisms yet. So they don’t know what they are missing but they will figure out soon. Receiving monetary value for content DIRECTLY will spread like a wildfire and attract the masses soon enough ✌🏻
